No Wi-Fi at the pub but that one was to you, Bern.

Apologies for the clunky presentation, but hope you all get the sentiment.

Man Utd scored a flukey goal just before half time, but Villa has just scored again to make it 3-1. Really hope they win, I have nothing but respect for Emery even though it didn't work out for him here. A very likeable guy.

Arteta called it a mature performance. Nail on the head. You aren’t going to sweep these good sides away, the game was won today by an outstanding defensive display, we restricted Chelsea to nothing (0.27xG), we bossed the game. And with them not having a sniff we just needed to poke one in and control the game which we did like a set of seasoned multiple title winning players.

People may say it was a scruffy or ugly win but not for me. That was a suffocation of a top 6 rival on their own patch where we just needed one moment to put the result beyond doubt and to reflect the dominance we exerted

Yeah, there's no way anyone can watch that game and honestly think Arsenal didn't deserve three points.

I'm particularly happy Aubameyang was rendered impotent.

I really understand that

Sheesh. Newcastle showing how it’s done at Southampton. 3-0 now. They are having a heck of a season so far too.

Eddie Howe doing a job there. Another ‘project’ in action.

If they do Haz they don’t know the game…..we pissed all over an expensively assembled team ….won as a team and won as departments …defence, midfield and forwards and won every individual battle….a complete performance…I love this group… they seem to be very together….

Hmmm ... maybe although I'm more inclined towards Terry Mancini .

Great performance , Jesus just needs a goal to release the tension , he is trying too hard .

Being a Chelsea fan right now , not pleasant after getting tonked by Brighton last outing , you'd expect some sort of reaction but they weren't at the races .

I’m not ancient enough to have seen Mancini play Pete, so I’ll bow to your ageless knowledge on that score. (Good to see you posting regularly again btw)

Tottenham missing Son today, there's a gulf in quality when comparing their starting eleven to Liverpool's. Even if Liverpool win today we're 15 points ahead of them, so I hope they absolutely smash Spurs.

If it’s any consolation, I just missed out. My first visit to Highbury was in the 76-77 season, and I’m pretty sure he’d left by then.

That all said, I used to go to Maine Road, Goodson, Anfield and Old Trafford from about 71 with my Dad if ever Arsenal were playing there, so it’s possible I did indeed see him play. No memories of doing so however.

Little bit hard to read this stuff. Whilst that’s delightful It burns a bit if you know what I mean.

I’m not certain but didnt Nick Hornby discuss in a chapter of fever pitch about the difficulty of going mid season if Arsenal were top of the league. I’m not certain but it might give me an excuse to get re read that splendid book again and I’m sure bern would consider that funny.

If Man U lose this they remain in 5th and are as close to the relegation zone as they are to us

Good manager, not minimizing that fact, but it also helps when you literally have a blank cheque to write for any player willing to come.

True. But they haven’t really spent silly money yet have they. Howe is doing well with the bulk being players that he inherited.

They’ve spent a fortune

..

Funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), their controversial 80 per cent owners, they have spent £210million ($238m) on eight new players, smashed their transfer record and invested everywhere.

They spent a decent amount:
Sep 2, 2022 — Newcastle United have spent £123 million (€142m) on transfers this summer

But you are right, he's inherited most of the players and he's a good manager. They will go from strength to strength and very little doubt they'll buy in January.

They might get top 4 this season. I (and many people) wouldn't be surprised. Toon fans kinda remind me of the Chicago Cubs or the Boston Red Sox. Massive fan base of teams that went a long time with no title. We had one Geordie at the pub in LA. The other Brits said 'Just smile and nod, you won't understand a word'

The media seem intent on perpetuating the myth it’s not about money. Give arteta 210 million to spend over 2 windows and I reckon he’d win you the league
