Brilliant performance.

Gabriel, Partey, Elneny the standout performers, but they all played very very well.

Well done boys.

Now let’s use this as a springboard.

Great predictions Dec. Well done those feckers! Proud to be a fecker today!

Great result for us of course, but catastrophic for the OGS project. They had to win this one.

Hard fought and fully deserved. Tactics and performance spot on. No matter than it was ‘only’ won by a penalty and 1-0. We were miles better than Man U today.

Partey and Elneny absolutely bossed the midfield, all the more incredible as Man U played a narrow midfield 4 in a diamond, so it was 4v2 in there. I’ve written Elneny off many times but he proved me wrong tonight, he was everything you want, compliments Partey brilliantly.

Absolutely loved the aggression and physicality in our play all game as well.

Neither did I. Just shows what they’re capable of and that it’s not always down to the manager.

Grit and determination aplenty.

Bellerin made the most of the contact but I'll take it. OGS may not last the season.

Partey is blessing. Once we get better team defense, I can envision him being box to box and getting involved on the attack when he sees an opening.

Arsenal least goals conceded in the Premier League this season.

He was superb. He worked his nuts off and added value all over the pitch.

Ceballos and Xhaka will struggle to get back into the fold if that continues. That was a multi dimensional midfield performance that we haven’t seen in some time.

Great result obviously but particularly as it solidifies belief in Arteta's methods. Defensively we look unrecognisable from the Emery era. If only Lacazette could get back to being a real goal threat or we get goals from elsewhere in the team.

One guy who never gets enough credit is Rob Holding. He’s not a world class centre half like Gabriel but the truth is he rarely drops a clanger and always provides maximum effort especially in these big games. For a back up centre half he’s not as bad as many try to make out.

He played very well. I was hoping that he wouldn’t have to go off due to injury. A solid game indeed.

Reminds me a bit of Steve Bould, both in appearance and performance.

There was a moment in the 91st minute, we are camped in our box and Man U are slinging desperate balls in and Elneny chases down Man U on their right wing, the recycle it centrally and out to the Left where Elneny sprints all the way across, holds up Shaw, forces him backwards to Lindelof and then forces the mistake from him to win is a throw on halfway and run down the clock. Unbelievable

Lacazette’s press, closing down, tackling and hold up play were so much better today.

Arteta said about players winning their individual battles today, absolutely right. It felt like every Arsenal player had the better of their direct opponent today, for a long time it was just the goal that was missing.

On paper that is the 3 toughest Games of the season out of the way already. And another tough one v Leicester at home when you consider their threat on the counter. Shame that we lost 3 of them but the good is the league is pretty bunched up so whilst our position is low we’re only 4 points off the top

Indeed. It's a little known fact that "feckers" is a term of affection in a certain region of East Cork. :icon_razz:

Great win for us today. First half was considerably better than the second half, but the work rate throughout was excellent.

That was the performance I have been waiting for. Partey and Elneny were great but acrosss the team good performances and a mention for Bellerin. I think Bellerin, Holding and Elneny are improving significantly. We need to see desire and use of a football brain in every game from now on.

Defense seems to be sorted.
Midfield is moving in the right direction.
Attack next on the agenda?

As others have said, credit to Holding and Elneny today. They both played well. Gabriel is the star man in central defence though. Been so impressed with him.

Kane winning another of his cheating penalties. He literally does this move every game. Ball in the air, looks for his opponent, as his opponent goes up to win the header Kane backs in to him and collapses under the challenge. It is often a foul by Kane and often a very dangerous one by taking the guy out in the air. In rugby they give red cards for it because of the potential for serious neck injury

Be interested to see Artetas starting line up in our next league game.

Only downside for me was Willian who doesn’t seem to be able to affect a game. Pépé looks a far better option for me and more likely to provide an incisive moment.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence the first game where we won the midfield battle and dominated that part of the field was when there was no Xhaka in the side.

I'd go with the Elneny/Partey partnership and see where it takes us. It's more dynamic and more fluid.

I'd also consider giving Willock some PL minutes.

Me too. Those 3 are just more industrious and capable of more progressive play.

Cebackpass wasn't around to do that pivot thing where he turns in the other direction before passing it sideways or Xhaka to do that instep pass to Tierney and absolutely *%^@ all else all game.

I think you're being a little hard on Willian who I thought played well today. Maybe not as explosive as Pépé but an intelligent team player. Unlucky not to put us ahead as well.

I’m not writing him off and as I said previously you can’t be that bad a player to get 70 Brazil caps but I don’t really see him affecting games at the moment to be honest.

I agree bromley. Willian had a good game. I honestly don’t think there was a single Arsenal player who didn’t play well.

Don't be ridiculous, Bernard. Leno was hopeless. Had Martinez played today he would have had a hatrick
