Holding caught in possession again in our own 3rd. He's the definite weak link in this system and style. Ask him to stand in the box and head, block, clear anything round and he's good.

Second half looking a little bit more like an actual football game so far.

People laughed at Liverpool for employing a throw in coach but they never lose the balls from throw ins and equally we find it so difficult to retain any decent possession. Specialist coaches much like American sport are going to be the way forward in football I think

Lacazette must have had 2-3 fouls on him not given by the ref.

I think he is but I feel sorry for the 3 centre halves who are exposed time and again. Not easy if your side can’t retain the ball

No I haven’t. I don’t ever recall calling our current midfield brilliant.

Fabinho slides in aggressively on Willian, doesn't win the balll, no free kick given. thankfully Liverpool put it out for us.

This new offside thing of keeping the flag down is a load of complete and utter bollix.

Ceballos on for Xhaka, not Elneny.

Hmmmm

He's had some good defensive contributions, but he's just not good enough on the ball. Looks like a good mid-table defender to me.

Yesterday you said xhakas passing was of a high level.

We only completed 5 passes in their half in the first and he’s just been dragged off.

I get that the whole team are struggling and he can't have much confidence playing it in to our central midfield but he seems to make more basic errors. He just let Mané come on to him and pick his pocket 20 yards from goal. I know what the philosophy is but I'd rather boot it 60 yards than give Mané the ball 20 yards from goal in a 1 v1

Cant afford to miss those. Lacazette 1 v 1 hits it straight at Allison. Must score

Is it worth subbing Willian for Pépé?

the annoying thing about the very best sides is they always find a way for the ball to fall for them

So you think saying some of Xhaka’s passing is at a high level equates to me saying we have a brilliant midfield? I’m speechless!

Absolutely, you might lose some shape and control but give him the last 20, his hold up play is pretty good.

Unbelievable. Aubameyang blocked off nothing given. Willian did it a minute ago and it was given. Bellerin now booked

It has been rumbling all game from this ref, niggly 50/50's all their way.

Now gives us a free kick instead of playing the advantage

This half has been so much better. We're much more on the front foot.

I think with that lacazette chance he missed he wanted to take it in his stride and just go round the gk, his first touch wasn't strong enough and he was too far away from the gk. I think then he just looked up and realised the gk positioning was perfect and ended up hitting it straight at him

Ceballos yellow. seems a bit harsh, its a nibble through the back. compare it to the two yellows Liverpool have been given and its chalk and cheese

I thought I said I am not confident it will be changed. I’m not certain either Aouar or Partey will be signed, let alone both of them. You’re twisting my words as that doesn’t equate to me saying the midfield is brilliant.

Clearly you think it’s ace ! You’ve said you don’t understand why we are signing midfielders as it’s creative enough. It’s been *%^@ in the first half

Have to say, watching the replay of that Lacazette chance he certianly should've scored but it's also a really good save by Alisson. Makes himself look really big there.

I asked for Pépé to come on because I thought Willian was poor and letting his head drop.
But the more I see of Pépé the more I think that £72mill could have been much, much better spent.
He’s a lightweight, and always will be.

again liverpool always with the run of the loose ball. It isn't luck, it is anticipation, sharpness and work rate. our midfield is sluggish in comparison.
I see Mané, quite a small guy, fight for every ball and beat much bigger guys just by his technique and desire

If you want to criticise my posts, try checking what I’ve said. I haven’t said it’s ace. But with Ceballos, Saka, Willian, Pépé and Aubameyang, I think we have a lot more creativity than you.

A second crap effort at a corner from him.
Someone needs to grab him by the throat and shake some life into him.

That's why Ceballos had to be on from the start. received the ball on the edge of the box surrounded by 4 liverpool players, just stayed calm and realised the 4 were covering the quick pass, so just turned and turned again and dribbled his way out

I was just about to say the same. His set pieces are usually good.
