Jesus, this means Wilfried Zaha probably has it too then.

Too much fixture congestion lately. Seems C19 tests were done Monday.

I read that all Arsenal players were tested at some point after the West Ham game and there were no positives. Like all clubs, the players and staff must be being tested multiple times each week. The stakes are so high if there is an outbreak

Ornstein saying Arsenal are open to letting Reis Nelson go on loan this season. With Willian joining and Saka and AMN being able to play right wing I think it is the right decision. Get him playing a full season of prem football - including penalty clauses for the team who takes him if he doesn't get enough game time. Then reassess next summer.
Ornstein also saying Partey and Aouar remain the primary targets but Arsenal have back ups.

One player who's name has been linked with a number of clubs previously but I've not heard much this summer is Dennis Zakaria, plays for Muchengladbach, central midfield, 23, Swiss international. When Xhaka blew up there was talk of us trying to send Xhaka there in exchange for this lad

When needed we do have a bloke sitting on the sidelines who is a more than useful opener of defences. I don't mind a sideways pass provided it eventually gets to somebody with imagination - the great Gilberto played many of them for Arsenal and Brazil.

I think not playing/including Özil in the team could be to avoid paying him any extra bonuses. He would still get his basic but the club sort of save a bit of money.

'Özil' and 'saving money' look odd in the same post. But yes.

It’ll be interesting to see if Özil gets in the team tonight. If he isn’t selected for even the League Cup, the odds on him having already played his last game for Arsenal will shorten, I imagine. Same goes for Guendouzi.

I believe we can only register 17 non-homegrown players for the 25-man squad? We need to ship out a few to make space for new midfielders.

Arsenal have 19 non Homegrown players over the age of 21: Leno, Runnarsson Tierney, Sokratis, Gabriel, Ceballos, Lacazette, Özil, Torreira, Willian, Aubameyang, Cédric, Pépé, Mustafi, Pablo Mari, David Luiz, Elneny, Kolasinac, and Xhaka
The limit is 17 so we need to move 3 players on (or not include them in our squad *cough Özil cough*) to be able to make a signing
I would think Sokratis, Kolasinac, Torreira, Elneny are the ones targeted to move - as well as Guendouzi but he doesn't come in to this listing yet.
It doesn't mean we can't buy before we sell because we could buy Partey, not find a buyer for Sokratis (for example) and just not include him in our Prem squad for the season

Wolves sold Doherty for £15m and just sign Semedo from barca for up to £37m. Doesn't seem to make sense.

BBC also show a graphic that Wolves are 1 CB away from being able to field an entire Portuguese 11. It makes you wonder how Wolves are complying with the home grown and non home grown rules. They only have 4 englishmen in their entire first team squad

I didn't know loaned players could have a proviso they play a certain amount or penalized if not. I'm assuming this doesn't include injuries obviously. Great idea! :58big-emoticons:

It is just a contract between clubs, if it is agreed to you can put whatever clause you want in it.

Lots of players have payment clauses after a certain number of games, or payment clauses if they play over 70 minutes in games etc. Which is why, particularly lower down the leagues where money is very tight, you see managers dropping players or regularly subbing them off - essentially on instructions from the chairman because they can't afford, or don't want to pay those extra fees

Interesting article on our new left field signing in goal.
Good with his feet, good at 1v1's

I think this is a calculated gamble for this season for a very low price, then look to go back for David Raya next season.

Very tough run of games in the league after the cup match tonight. Last year we took 3 points from these games.
Liverpool A
Sheff Utd H
Man City A
Leicester H
Man Utd A

It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we don't win a single one of those games. Those 3 away games are the toughest in the league. I'd hope with Mikel's tactics we can put up a better showing. 3 draws would be excellent for the belief even if it doesn't push the points tally on that much. All 3 will come and attack us, so let them have the ball, stay compact and hit them on the counter. With those 3 away games, the 2 at home become must win!

I'm reading articles we are prioritizing Partey over Aouar if we can only get one. Glad to see Arteta has been reading my posts since I threatened to block him. :42laughter:

In the AG universe
Liverpool away draw
Sheff Utd home win
Man City away draw
Leicester home win
Man Utd away 9-2 win...payback is a female dog.

Clear pen foul on Saka ref gives a goal kick - presumably no VAR.

Seen the clip. That is unbelievable that it hasn’t been given. As Saka is 5 yards out with only the gk to beat and the defender is making to attempt to play the ball it should be a red card as well.
The defender may not be trying to foul Saka but he’s all over the back of him, clips his leg and effectively wrestled him to the ground. One of the worst decisions I’ve seen

Referee couldn’t point for a goal kick any quicker or with more gusto. Think he thought I’d have to send him off if I give this. I’d better bottle this with panache!!

Lucky break Maddison beats Leno all ends up and it bounces off the post back into the keeper's arms.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a scrappier goal, but Pépé aka scrappy doo showing a determination and hunger for goal there.

Perez misses a sitter wide open from a free kick. Not a defender in sight.

Just seen that Nketiah has made it 2-0.

Good result. Does mean a trip to Liverpool though.

Another scrappy goal. Nketiah worked his way up to that one, never stopped running. Great play from Bellerin to set it up too,.

His short shorts must've blinded the keeper during that great run :laughing7: stock still as Eddie bundled it in. I thought Reiss played well.

Impressive win last night. I thought we controlled most of the game and never looked in much danger. Saka, Nelson and Elneny were good. Good also to see Luiz back in the middle of the back 3, he's a completely different player in that system.

Nice little cameo from Bellerin at the end, I was dead against selling him when the rumours were around a few weeks back. We've seen so many players lift their performances under Arteta's coaching, Bellerin is someone who always had the raw ingredients but possibly never had the coaching intensity under Wenger. He's come back from one of the worst injuries a footballer can get and it takes time to get back to full fitness.

Nketiah gets his poachers goal again, he was also not happy when the owl goal was scored because he thought he was in a position to score and Pépé should have found him. I think I saw a stat that the average distance of all his Arsenal goals is 5 yards out. He also caused more than a few problems with his closing down of their gk and defence, creating chances out of nothing.

If this was a 2nd 11 it has a chance against any prem side, and any top 6 side also playing its second 11.
