Quite compelling watching. Even more interesting with now having the benefit of knowing just how it panned out for both of them subsequently.

Out of curiosity, and also as an indication of deprivation, I’ve watched loads of German football this weekend. It really points the way to what we can expect next season.

Having previously been unimpressed with empty stadium European ties I’ve been surprised just how much I have enjoyed it. The games seem pure (if that is the right word). Just football, without all the annoying histrionics that pervade our Premier league games. A chance to enjoy the game for what it is when shorn down to its basics.

I've yet to watch any football. I will take a look at the bundesliga. I'm surprised at myself actually, I thought I'd be itching. I'm enjoying watching videos of old matches though. immensely.

Rog, I’m having trouble logging in off my laptop running Windows 10 and using Google Chrome. Takes my username and password, as ‘logged in’ on the first screen, but when I then ‘get latest post’, it takes me there but knocks me out.

Watched the re-run of the 2014 FA Cup final on Arsenal.com.

Thanks to a ‘surprise’ holiday booked by my better half, I missed it and had to watch it in a bar in Costa Adeje Tenerife. Surrounded by an extended family of Hull fans numbering about 30 people. They were obviously ecstatic at the start, and gave me lots of good humored grief.

However, as the match wore on and the circumstances changed for the better (well for me at least) one or two of them got a little bit lairy. To be fair, the others kept them in check and I tried my best to not be too excited and rub it in.

By the end of the match I had imbibed quite a few pints, and ended up buying a round for them. Thankfully a few had gone by then but the round still set me back over €110 euro. A small price to pay.

So you get to repeal one of the two biggest injustices of recent times, or the ones lodged in my mind anyway, which one would you go for:

1. The 50th game. Arsenal sitting at 49 games unbeaten travel to Old Trafford to be met by the war criminal Mike Riley and one of the most despicable displays of refereeing in living memory. Gary Neville should have been sent off multiple times. And then court martialled.

2. This one is more heart breaking than rage inducing - it’s Eduardo’s leg break. During a really good season for him where he’d stunned me with his incredible finishing, this was first and foremost a personal tragedy for him, but also a body blow to the team in a season where we were on course to finish top of the pile. Who know what could have been.

Putting aside if this were actually happening not unbreaking Eduardo’s leg would be pretty heartless, but it’s ok because it isn’t really happening, which would you go for?

Both have the potential to affect Arsenal’s legacy and both would mean my faith in the “it evens out over a season” b%*&s%*^ might be restored.

Completely agree with both of you. Not Arsenal’s greatest ever player by any means. But way better than some give him credit for. I find it hard to criticise him and I think those who did or do were or are being unfair.

If the June/July restart happens, Liverpool will win the title, there is no doubt about that. The only question is 'how' they will win it. If they lose or even draw a few more matches it will put a little bit of a stain on an otherwise historic season but I won't begrudge them. You only see seasons like that in smaller leagues in Europe, not much in any of the top leagues. Milan 30 years ago comes to mind possibly.

Abou Diaby being interviewed by Aliadiere. What I found interesting was Aliadiere's London accent. Confirmation in my mind that Jens was both a nut case and professional. Further confirmation Cesc was a lot better than some of us would like to admit probably based on how he left us. Theo was initially shy but understandable given how young he was.

Had both of them been lucky with injuries they would have been good and I think with Diaby he would have been great.

Yes, from the little we saw there was so much in him to be excited about. His ability to get from box to box at speed was exceptional. Cruelly cut down by injuries, and then just as cruelly became the butt of certain "fans", who would be lucky enough in their whole lives never to suffer the physical pain he did as a young man.

Maybe, but I think Mikel may be looking for economy and experience. Apparently Tot Ali Uzelez is available on a free.

Must admit I never noticed any huge criticism of Diaby by loads of fans. I’m sure there would have been a small number as you can probably find a few fans who criticise anyone. My guess is there’s a Barcelona fan somewhere who moans about Messi. But I don’t remember Diaby being subjected to mass criticism.

Never saw much in him to be honest. People got excited because every black French midfielder at the time was the new Vieira. He was warming the bench at Auxerre. I do remember him being very athletic and strong but never got the impression he'd leave a big imprint on the game.

I remember some games where Diaby looked absolutely brilliant, controlled the game, drove forward, broke up play - I think away to Liverpool when we won 2-0 with Santi and Podolski scoring springs to mind. But equally he had games where we didn't see him much. Any consistency erased by the multiple injuries. But I think it is those few amazing games that leaves supporters crystal ball gazing as to what could have been as opposed to a player who might have been consistently good but never world class even in a single game

That Liverpool game was comfortably Diaby’s best ever match in an Arsenal shirt. Never reached that standard before or after it, in my view anyway. Which gives me some sympathy with Gunfire’s position, to be honest. I wonder if his terrible injury record, for which I had every sympathy with him, made some people too ready to declare him as potentially the second Vieira. Even if he’d never been injured I remain to be convinced he’d have come close to Vieira’s level.

Remember that game very well - Diaby was absolutely brilliant. What a shame his career panned out the way it did.
