Nelson keeps shooting on sight. I like that. Wenger would not have allowed that.

He seems to be playing far more direct today with his running too

Cannot understand why he gives the youngsters their heads and the first team appear to be under orders?

What is Emery trying to achieve?

Well I’d venture it seems crazy to play Xhaka with players like Willock and martinelli on the bench. Just crazy

Willock can progress into the same level as Viera

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I mean it’s early days but he looks a very complete midfielder in that he can tackle, close down and run directly with the ball whilst contributing goals. For me he’s getting very close to our starting line up and actually I cant see much difference in the output between him and Ceballos. In fact he looks a better player

That is some prediction!! If Willock becomes even half the player Vieira was he’ll be a very good player for us.
Vieira for me was one of if not the best central mid in the world at his peak. You don’t get central mids like him in the game anywhere anymore. You’re a destroyer like kante, deep passer like de Bruyne or a box to box late arrival in the box like alli (when he was good) Vieira was all 3 and would destroy the current CM in the league

Game over early, very pleased for Martinelli who can certainly finish, and Tierney looks a bargain when you consider Wan Bissaka cost Utd twice as much. Talking of Utd, hearing a lot of bluster about Mason Greenwood - imagine if he had scored the 4 goals Martinelli has in the Europa, they'd be lauding him as the second coming.
Like to see us step up the intensity and go for more goals in the second half as it's turned into a training game.

Very impressed with Martinelli in front of goal. So clinical. Wouldn’t mind him getting some minutes wide left with the Aubameyang up top.

Tierney is great. I love how he just seems so confident and calm and knowledgeable about his position that he feels free to join attacks, even drift infield but never out of position. Crossing superb.

Willocks running and goal threat means he should be in the first choice 11

Ceballos is controlling things from deep, lots of time on the ball and is orchestrating everything

Nelson with his most impressive half for the first team, really direct, first thought is getting at his man and getting shots off. It scared defences and makes things happen.

It just looks like the Europa and league cup teams are allowed to play with more freedom that the prem team. Obviously it’s much weaker teams but the attacking intent, and quickly moving the ball forward and running at defenders is exciting

Tierney again looks a revelation, I guess Kolasinac would look dangerous tonight too maybe, but its the style and what he's doing that's so encouraging. Lovely crossing, imagining Aubameyang on the end of those.

John Hartson I thought would have praised that astonishing header for the first goal a bit more considering his MO when he was playing, for a player described as winger before and after he signed that's, as i say, astonishing.

So glad for AMN to finallly be playing further forward. He's a decent squad option there.

Good time to bring on Pépé?

Rest one of the fullbacks too? :12hello-bye:

Sometime during the match, Pépé should come on for AMN. A good time to test the Bellerin- Pépé play down the right.

I was thinking exactly the same about Greenwood. Martinelli is only 4 months older. Or Tammy Abraham- who is playing very well but is 4 years older.
It’s nice to get the praise and recognition for these younger players but really keeping them below the radar, and they keep scoring, is better

No it’ll be Pépé for Bellerin

Niles to right back. They won’t risk Hector for 90

Europa League not adverse to the odd ref shocker either, Nelson had an absolute stonewall penalty not given as he was tripped by the gk in that first half as well

Martinelli certainly has the movement and desire to be a good striker. And at 18 and already a decent size already he will get bigger and stronger.

He scores them. He makes them. Nice. Martinelli is proving to be quite a prospect.

Good to see Ceballos get his reward for a fine game so far.

Great move, lovely reverse pass from AMN but brilliant brilliant play from martinelli! And Ceballos shows some hunger and gets the job done.

Eddie Nketiah has been doing well at Leeds, but the emergence of Martinelli is bad news for him in terms of making it at Arsenal.

Only plus for Eddie is they're different types of striker, but yes you're right. Nothing much Martinelli can't do, and pace to burn.

Just like I hoped that Bendtner would be but sadly not to be (except in his own mind)

Tierney is really good at first time crosses. Very accurate and it opens things up at pace. Super to watch.

Thing is he knows when to hit a cross in it’s not just the delivery. He ensures it’s always when the defence hasnt had the chance to set itself if you know what I mean

Crazy decision to bring on Aubameyang. If he picks up an injury, Emery should be put up against a wall and shot.

Ten minutes gives Reiss (who has looked much better tonight ) a break and Aubameyang a quick run out

What are the odds. Ten minutes

If it was half an hour I’d understand the concern but it’s being played at snails pace

Why risk him is my thinking. Spose he isn't made of glass is he, as you were.

Özil could certainly learn a lot from Martinelli about work rate and pressing. He is a livewire

Four up, what is the point? Why risk it at all?
