In a part of Iceland more isolated than an Arsenal central defender, I was most surprised to bump into one of my heroes.

You have to (or not) have to feel sorry for Liverpool. They have put together a side that would have ran away with the title, and pretty much brought back the glory days and City happens.

Good question my pencils up the nose and ears loving American friend

Answer is possibly. Ericsson leaving in January probably and a manager who looks increasingly like the Penny has dropped. Could be a turning point

Exactly, it’s all about results. I’m quite sure if results go well fans will miraculously become more tolerant of Emery’s broken English. Also, when Emery has been in England as long as Pochettino has, or if he is, I fully expect his English will be just as good. Is it possible some bad results have made a number of fans looking to moan about Emery move onto his English?

They peaked in 1961.

Foothilled? Probably.

Please could someone who is on his wavelength let him know that they won the Champion League. So he doesnt have to feel sorry for them.

Caglar Soyuncu looks a good player for Leicester.

Pretty sure Mislintat identified him as a priority signing a season or so back.

Hmm. Now 8-0. I guess that Watford are finding that hugely different from playing us.

Yes, that should be easy enough, as City are not really all that special. Anything less than a 9-0 mullering of Watford at our place and the airplanes and banners will be fully deserved.

Let's be honest B, it is devastated English. Like Humpty Dumpty it is unlikely ever to be put together in a form of the language we recognise. If it is that really would be a miracle. But, as you say, if he wins a cup, who gives a *%^@?

Considering how much sooner Emery started giving interviews in English than Pochettino, it suggests to me that he’s at least trying with the language. And Top Gun describes Pochettino’s English as “now excellent”. So if Pochettino can do it, why can’t Emery? But the attitudes of fans on this issue is largely down to results, as you accept.

Aston Villa sits 18th in the table. 50/50 chance Xhaka will say he (we) are-were scared of them, lose or draw. :14laughter: A win for us, not so much.

Well actually I am with AG on this. There will be very few games Pool Might lose this year and we have to hope they don’t go undefeated. Quite a few of their supporters are pretty unbearable after the CL but if they win the league and go undefeated they will be terrible. They will be telling everyone that their undefeated season is a real one not like Arsenal’s and we will never hear the end of them. I don’t even know any City supporters so I still live in hope of them winning again.

I am pretty sure that Emery’s English proficiency does not affect whether our defensive midfielder Xhaka actually can stop attackers whether Socrates makes a suicidal pass to a player who was actually worst placed than anyone else to be getting it and whether for 10 years we run down the squad. There is a lot I don’t like about his management but English ability is not one of them.

However we had better see a big reaction after last weeks failure just as was expected at Man City. Aston Villa are really poor and we need to see a clear win by 4 goals to show us the players really mean business.

Time to wrest the initiative from Spurs again. They lost, so we need to put some distance, points and goals wise. Looking forward to an improved performance today. Hope to see Saka given a run as well. Emery needs to blood in more of the youngsters. The team is already looking stale after 3 winless games. Özil must not start. I feel he is no longer effective, and slows the team down. Xhaka must put out the same type of Captain's game he gave in the Frankfurt game.

Wonder what the lineup is going to be. Not expecting anything different from the Watford game tbh. I hope Torreria starts and Özil doesn’t though. If Villa have come to fight hard for every inch of turf it just isn’t the game for him. If we need to unlock them later on then it could we need him, but I’m not betting on it.

Also after playing 90 minutes Thursday, surely another 90 today you’ve got to think Aubameyang will be rested against Nottingham forest Tuesday, but who plays up front?? Is John Jules out only conventional choice?

Also, beyond today sorry to get ahead of myself and for spamming posts, but I’m most excited about seeing any of Holding Bellerin or Holding (and Mavropanos for that matter) play on Tuesday. Inching closer to a competitive squad. COYG!!

It’s been widely mooted he’s going to start

It’s incredible to think he’s the nephew of the cat from red dwarf :laughing7:

People were commenting that Tierney looked even quicker than Bellerin over 10 yards when they played for u23 other night

On his medical - so when he was still injured- He had static vertical jump measurements that beat Aubameyang’s current club record. If you’re into that sort of thing... That plyometric stuff is all about explosive power so it absolutely adds up that he’s lightning out of the blocks. Good news, it’ll make a nice change from watching Kola getting turned from behind the sofa!

He rested last weekend too, nothwithstanding a gentle stroll in the park around on Sunday afternoon.

Game hasn’t settled at all! Bit harem scarem, if we can work hard and match them Aubameyang will be the difference.

Jon Moss.

Not keen.
