There is a clip I saw which shows Emery constantly shouting orders from the touchline, but as soon as arsenal had to defend a free kick, Emery’s assistant comes out to the technical area and takes charge of the defence for the set piece. As soon as it is cleared Emery comes back to the front

Might have to get that game babu based on your recommendation. Not impressed with the new call of duty

Babu basing his hopelessly simplified and bigoted views on video games doesn't surprise me. But I'm hoping that your comment is tongue in cheek, Top Gun. Sophistication and culture?

Reiss Nelson scored again to equalise and now Hoffeheim have scored a second. Could he have scored again?

Can't imagine it'll be long before Eddie looks for a loan move, he must have some ambition and must be sick of not being given any game time in the top comps.

Michael Owen has picked his combined arsenal/Liverpool 11 from the entire prem era. An era where Liverpool have won zero titles and arsenal have won 3
Here it is
Seaman, Cole, hyypia, Adams, Carragher (rb), Gerrard, Vieira, mcmanaman, barnes, Henry, suarez

When pundits pick combined 11’s fhatsimply bear no resemblance to anything the average fan is going to pick they instantly lose any credibility. Barnes and mcmanaman as the best two wingers from the last 26 years? Haha never change Michael Owen you prat

Leno, Bellerin, mustafi, holding, Kolasinac, Torreira, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Özil, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Shame that Sokratis and Monreal aren’t fit as I really fear for Kolasinac against salah. Imagine Liverpool having to play their reserve left back!

Mkhitaryan over iwobi is the wrong call as well I think

Could be a smart move. They tire early and cannot keep up the pace
from kick off so with smart subs we could turn things around.

We can recover from 0-1 but any more and we really will struggle. Have to take the AG line and hope for a draw.

Well, today is the acid test of where we are as a team.

The first big test (I don't count the first two games because it was too early in the Emery transition period).

My heart says we will get a result today, my head says we still have too many weaknesses defensively and will struggle against Liverpool's pace and movement.

The other thing, of course, is that we cant turn up at halftime like in so many of the other games recently.

I'm just glad we have a left back at all!

Liverpool have been very good at getting wins this season, but their offense and pressing game hasn't looked like it did last season so far. We're not completely without chance here.

That being said, they are further along in their development as a team. I see any points gained today as a bonus. Just hoping we give a good account of ourselves.

Can someone explain how that is not a pen?
Mkhitaryan heads the ball towards goal, their gk is committed and completely flattens Mkhitaryan nowhere near the ball. If that is a centre back cleaning out a striker who flicks it on it is a free kick every time

Excellent chance for Mkhitaryan followed by a questionable offside goal for Liverpool and an excellent save from Leno when Van Dijk had an open chance. Not a boring game.

Well done Lino for ruling that Mané was offside. According to he complex and baffling rules he was actually onside.

Leno doing brilliantly, fortunately. It would be more relaxing if we weren’t relying on him quite so much though.

Excellent first half from us, this was exactly what I wanted to see. We might lose this game, but we're showing we can play our game against really good opposition. They've had a couple of great chances, but we've had our fair share as well.

Well, that was a proper game and we haven't seen that all that often when we've met the top sides.

Xhaka and Torreira have been excellent, infact everyone has. Some neat attacking play.

A few lapses of concentration in the left back area left Salah free a few too many times but otherwise we've defended quite well.

Agree with you 100% on this. Will have to catch the 2nd half later as I need some sleep

How can that not be offside? He's standing in an offside position then runs to the goal from an offside position.

I agree, its a stupid rule because Mané gains an advantage by being in an offside position to start with. Its an absurd rule.

Apparently not, once the play enters its second phase he's onside again. Ridiculous rule.

Baffling and confusing law. Needs sorting out.
