Yes, I was offline for a good while, so missed the sad news. Same with Mee, whose posts I used to enjoy so much, especially his mock-fearful ones about Spurs. I was very sad to find out he had died. We lost a good one there.

End of extra time in the carabao cup final, Kepa is slightly injured and subbed off for Bravo - who is a penalty specialist, but Kepa refuses to come off, Sarri throws down everything he can pick up and storms off! Kepa saves a penalty and Chelsea still lose! Madness. As much as I wanted them both to lose, probably good for us if it destabilises Chelsea summore.

And also somehow we’re 4th! A single glorious point ahead of Utd. Lots riding on the home game with them 10th March :icon_eek1: Interested to see what people think whether we can make 4th? The fixtures are slightly kinder to us I think but really wtf does that matter with us! :1laughter:

That was a very good first half followed by a pretty drab second half. We really could have won that match 6 nil. Also, props to Iwobi who I thought was a real threat today. Unfortunately, I wanted to get some chips from the Arsenal Fish Bar and it's NO LONGER THERE! That was a real Arsenal institution, I cant believe its no more.

It was an absolute part of arsenal history. The photos of players behind the counter. Surprisingly good Chinese food, tons of fans used it as a meeting point.

A few pints in the barn then a walk down the hill for a sav and chips running to the ground to catch kick off in time. Great memories

Very sad about AFB. Both her and the fact it has now closed down. I wanted to introcuce my grandson to their fish and chips but he preferred to go to the Armoury which I couldn't see but he still managed to leave me without change of a £20 note never mind the rest.............

Can someone tell me where it is. I thought it was at the clock end at the top of the stairs seprate from the stadium.

Do you mean where the Armoury is? If so it's not inside the ground despite being part of the stadium complex. It's on the west side of the ground, where Hornsey Road is.

Different food experience but when I was a regular attender my son and I often called in at the Happening Bagel Bakery in Seven Sisters Road - excellent range of bagels and big Arsenal fans. http://www.thehappeningbagelbakery.com/

Cheers for this Old Man. Nice to see they boil their bagels first for the true bagel experience. Or should I say Biegel?

I don't see us winning Europa Cup. Not with Sevila, Chelsea and Inter in it. I'm not sure if we can get past a couple of others as well.
As for fourth...well, we'll need a lot of luck.

I expect Özil to come in for Ramsey v Bournemouth so that Ramsey can start the away game v spurs.
Suarez might well make his first start as Iwobi picked up a knock.
Guendouzi could come back in, I’d keep Xhaka in there though.

This is the type of profile of player we should be looking at. This transfer would excite me more than many we have made recently

"There's only one Wan-Bissaka, one Wan-Bissaka..." I recall the Highbury crowd singing "There's only one Juan" when the young Brazilian played for us.

Back in the late '90s, there was a player in the Australian national soccer league called Juan Nilo. He would have been perfect for us.

40m? Can't see it happening. More likely we will Mustafi as our 2nd choice RB with Lichtsteiner leaving.

Bellerin isn't going to be out forever anyway. Unless it's felt at Arsenal that he's better than Bellerin who will be sold? I would be delighted if we got the guy from Palace, but right back isn't a position that most urgently needs strengthening.

I think Bellerins injury is quite serious and not the type of thing a player can be rushed back from. I’d be a little surprised if mustafi is still with us next year so I’d imagine we will try and stick with Monreal and Kolasinac on the left for 1 more year and bring in better cover at right back.

Abou Diaby. What a pity. Him, Rosicky and RvP could have been worthy replacements of Vieira, Pires and Henry had they remained healthy.

1st May 2006. Late afternoon kick-off. Sunderland v Arsenal. Sunderland already relegated. Arsenal 0-3 up in the first half and coasting. Game won so both teams going through the motions for the second half. Bit-part player for Sunderland, Ben Smith takes the field as a late substitute for Sunderland. In the last few minutes, Diaby has the ball wide near the halfway line as the game peters out. Shit-kicker Smith launches a two-footed assault from behind, breaking and dislocating Diaby’s ankle and rupturing his ligaments. Shit-kicker Smith got booked by Dermot Gallagher though nobody could believe how he wasn't sent off. Diaby leaves the field on a stretcher. He didn’t play again for 10 months and never really regained full or reliable fitness. He showed flashes of excellence over the next few years but he was never the same player again – ever.

The league's refs as well as a few managers like Pulis and Allardyce felt it was okay to do to Arsenal players what they wouldn't do to others.
That's the long and short of it.

Unconfirmed report from Stamford Bridge that the Chelsea goalkeeper has put on his kit and is sleeping out in the goal area overnight. Won't bother to wait for the team sheet tomorrow, he has made his decision already - he will play.

I guess a draw is a good result in the Chelsea v Tottenham derby. Although, if one has to win, I'd prefer...cough...spit... Tottenham (need some water to wash out my mouth) due to 4th place ramifications.

The sad fact as well is this is now the biggest derby in London. I think this may now eclipse the NLD for at least the younger football fans in London and split, I'm guessing in older supporters.

Poch charged after his rant at Mike Dean, if the FA get their ar$e in gear this should mean a touchline van for the NLD.
I’d would be handy if Chelsea and spurs kick lumps out of each other tonight, a draw and red cards and injuries would be most pleasing

Is it a fact, sad or not? I would say Arsenal v Tottenham has more history to it for a longer period than Chelsea v Tottenham. I would also say that because of local geography, Arsenal v Tottenham has an even keener rivalry than Chelsea v Tottenham.

In deciding what is a city's biggest derby, I'm not sure the current quality or standing of the clubs should or even can be the only consideration. Look at it this way. In some of the years when Rangers were outside the top tier of the Scottish league system after being relegated some tiers down for financial irregularities, the Scottish Premier League's Glasgow derby would have been Celtic v Partick Thistle. But it's simply ridiculous to claim Celtic v Partick temporarily became Glasgow's biggest derby. There is far more tradition, rivalry and history to the Old Firm (Rangers v Celtic) game.

I accept the Glasgow example is surely more extreme than the London one. But for me London's biggest derby is still Arsenal v Tottenham, not Chelsea v Tottenham.

Another individual mistake leading to a goal. We lead the top 6 in this stat by a mile and have done for years

Half time 2-1, both sides look dangerous going forward so although we've had the bulk of the play the game is not won yet by any means.

Any side looks dangerous against us, even one that had had ten men sent off.

Kos in amongst the goals again. 3rd since he came back from injury. So important for CB to chip in with goals. Mustafiand Sokratis have a few this season as well.

Mkhitaryan playing well in the past few games. Earlier in the season I bemoaned his lack of goals and assists but he’s starting to rack up some numbers now. If we can get him back to the player Man U thought they signed and the one we hoped we could renew we could be in business

Awful lunging foul by Daniels on Torreira should have been a red not a yellow - Lacazette punishes it with the free kick drilled into the corner 5-1.
:22encouragement:
Unfortunately Man U 2 up as well and Chelsea now 1 up on the Totts.
