Looks like we’re giving them too much respect because the fear is if we go at them with an aggressive press they are capable of playing through it.

But remember City’s second half record v the top 5 this season, they do tail off in games.

Looks like a clear plan for us to keep it tight, don’t lose the game early on, catch them in transitions -of which there won’t be many- feels like we need that extra pace for those counters - depends how fit Martinelli is but you can see him making a difference.

How to get a foothold in the game, though? Maybe earlier long balls up towards Havertz?

Yes, when we get it we’re struggling to get out, but despite the pressure they’ve put us under we’ve restricted them to 1 shot from a set piece. They respect us enough not to go 100mph at us in case we break on them with quality.

I'd like to see Martinelli on for Jesus.

We don't look likely to score from a build up, but against the run of play.

Is Tomiyasu fit to play?
He will give better service going forward.

Either very good or very bad depending on how we adjust but if it stays a draw late, City will go for it with even more determination. We will only be 2 points from Liverpool, but City will have to overcome 3. Possibly needing 2 games from Liverpool to drop points if Liverpool don't lose another game. And the Reds have the easier schedule, slightly, but the easier.

I can't fault the City fans to think the ref is giving us too many chances and not booking. Although I can see he's trying to let the players play.

We have done the lions share of the bad fouls, it will take manslaughter for City to get a booking

Ødegaard wants us to press them more as a unit and the players are too scared.

Anyone else agree that Rice and Ødegaard would both benefit if Rice was captain?

Both are leaders. No difference.

Can’t really believe I’m seeing it, but it makes sense. He’s been anonymous, although he’s had such little space.

Martinelli for Saka is a good call
Saka is not effective today

I know Raya has Ben taking his time on goal kicks but that wasn’t the one to yellow card him for. There was only about 6-7 seconds from the ref restarting the game to him deciding it was a yellow

Credit to the referee for keeping his card in his pockets. It's the worst passing I've seen from Ødegaard in ages.

Take the 0-0

That is the best defensive performance of any team this season considering the opposition and how they always score. 1 shot on target I think for them.

Anthony Taylor also shows why he is the best ref in the country and should always get these big games

Well, I like how we came into the game in the 2nd half and made a good faith effort to snatch a goal. The draw hurts City more than it hurts us...barely.

We would have lost this game and did a year ago. We are a much better side, especially defensively. The pundit said we are the first team to hold City to no goals at home all season.

Gabriel arguing with Haaland. The match is over. Let it go. Shake hands and move on.

Liverpool has a better goal differential than City so City will need to run the table pretty much. Depending on which Villa show up, they'll have trouble at home against them. Same with Chelsea and definitely away to Brighton will be a game that is potential banana peel for a loss if not a dropped points.

In the end it all evens out. We have a tough schedule as well.

And they did afterwards. Gabriel had the match of Haaland, brilliantly aggressive. Absolutely superb today, as was Saliba

Good point but it feels a good day for Liverpool

Not sure where that leaves us.

180 minutes against City and we’ve conceded just 2 shots on target. When you think back to Arsenal teams of the past it’s just phenomenal. Were the best defensive team in the league

Leaves us probably needing Man U and spurs to take something off Liverpool and we’ll probably need to win at least 8 of our 9 games, and even that may not be enough

Liverpool will drop points. Thing is we might too. 9 games to go and any of the 3 could win it.

Can't be sure if Foden was poor or we defended him well. I am relieved he wasn't his usual form.
