Ever Banega has been rumoured to us. Really like him, a good mix of skill and positional awareness. Puts a shift in defensively as well. That was a lovely pass to Messi for the goal.

Was just about to post the same thing. Criminal that he didn’t start their opening two games. It’s obviously going to be all about Messi but Benega is controlling the game

Him and Pavon have looked really good when they've played. Don't see the point of Enzo Perez at all.

Another night, another dramatic, controversial exciting and passionate game of football. Fantastic stuff. And we're still at the group stage.

Argentina got out of jail :icon_mrgreen:

This world cup is one of the most balanced. Good to see the less favoured teams giving renowned teams a run for the money.

Such a weird side. Feels like the coach is determined to play his system even if it means benching some of his best players. To use Aguero and Dybala so little is criminal. Don't think they'll go far if he doesn't change his ways.

Or 'mustard' is just a variant of 'yellow'. Dirty yellow, rather than 'fairly bright' yellow, but still yellow.

I imagine that is the gist of what the referee was saying to Macherano last night.

If Nigeria had shown a bit more conviction going forward, Argentina were there for the taking. Moses hardly got forward at all. Even so if Ighalo had had his boots on Argentina would be out.

Petitio Principii?

Not quite. There is an element of Bedeutungsverschiebung there.

Or did it actually contradict itself? Because by delivering a near-perfect niggle at Bernard, I would have to say there was little dirty in the challenge so the statement itself is possibly incorrect which only adds to its success.

So Banega seems to be an Emery request, he has a release clause of about £17m, Arsenal want to pay a bit less. On last nights showing anything around those figures would be a good deal. Good replacement for Wilshere in the squad

And a bit yellower too (in Bernard’s case). :laughing7:

But unlikely to be zippier (in Bernard's case).

Speaking of the Bernards, is an upset possible? They seemed to have maneuvered out of the ditch, but I suspect there might be quite a bit of mud in the Panzerspuren and the Maschinengewehr may be Fehlzündung. But Korea? Seems unlikely.

Yes, Petitio Principii implies there is an error in the premise which is covered up by circular logic.

So, in this case VAR confirms that there was no foul. Just some very close marking that produced a flying elbow in response.

Enjoying this afternoon’s pair of matches. But got mistakenly excited when I thought that Germany would have to score at least 3 to catch Sweden. But of course Mexico’s goal difference is galloping in the opposite direction. So, and in keeping with how the so called big guns have been performing, I now expect Germany to score in the 94th minute to scrape through (and then go on to win the whole event)

Mental game for Sweden so far. Another clear penalty not given in the first half. Good first goal, then a second goal from a horrible penalty call. Capped off with the crappiest of crappy own goals.

Highly entertaining for the neutral. Loving it.

It must be.
For the anti-German it is torture.

Well who would have thought it. There was a goal in the 94th minute. Just not who I expected. Germany bottom of group.

Wow, what a result for Korea. Germany did it to themselves. They were almost strolling all through the game. Even knowing they needed to score to progress, they were still strolling through the game. Sad to see them go, but, they did it to themselves. Kudos to Korea!

The first one I remember clearly is 1970. Also some great moments in that World Cup.

First World Cup I remember was 1994. Brilliant tournament from a Swedish perspective, not sure about the entertainment value for neutrals.
