Back at the emirates tonight. Think it should be another 3 points

Think he’ll go with Trossard. Eddie will have to play himself back in.

If ever there was a game which we need an early goal this is it. They have no Calvert-Lewin who was a decent outlet for them in the game at Goodison. We know what they will do, 4-5-1, 10 men behind the ball. For us that means:
1) scoring with intricate passing in tight areas - very hard
2) getting lots of men in the box and looking for second balls, knock downs, mistakes
3) more (accurate) shots from long range

Is it lucky for players to remain injury free? I suppose if they’re getting hacked repeatedly it’s lucky for them to avoid those impact injuries….but staying injury free is an attribute just as important as any on pitch skill for me. Diet, lifestyle, training, recuperation, stretching can all contribute. Probably no coincidence that the two best players of the last 30 years have barely had an injury between them.

I completely agree, and we shouldn't need to rely on luck. Refs should be more consistent in protecting skillful players.

Oh yes, that is a biggie, must avoid corners and set pieces

For £12m I can't think of many better players we could have bought in than Jorginho to give us what we need. I've got to the point where I'm willing to trust Edu and Arteta in the players they want as they clearly have a good eye and just as importantly they have a very clear system, style and personality and they recruit directly in to that so players are set up to succeed - but I must admit with the Jorginho signing whilst I was willing to see what happened I was sceptical.

The thing with fans is they see a player at one club and can't see how in their club with the right manager, players, tactics and environment they might be a completely reinvigorated player. A style to accentuate their strengths and mask their weaknesses.

I knew Jorginho was a player who kept possession, who set tempo and was metronomic in his passing but I din't understand his range of progressive passes, he passes forward to our dangerous players accurately and quickly.

Fair play to him for winning the fans over in a couple of games

As I said at the weekend I think it’s a shrewd move. I think it throws up a couple of questions though

1) does our best 11 now contain Jorginho and Partey? Could either play in the xhaka role because both move the ball quicker and have better levels of passing. It wouldn’t surprise me if you saw a starting line up containing both v city away.

2) how does this affect transfer policy in the summer ? Will we return for caicedo ? I don’t believe for a second Rice is joining us despite what’s being reported. So you maintain what you have or do we strengthen there again ?

Imo we strengthen. We Both Partney and Jorghino are aging so next year they could be backups. Strikers I'm not sure hope we keep Balogun and get Watkins, but looking forward to them playing for us.

Do we all think the Tielemans ship has sailed now? Still available for free in the summer I think, just picked up another injury ruling him out for 6 weeks. Currently he doesn't look the same player he was, he looks like he's lost a bit of sharpness and yard of pace in his play. If you gave me the choice between him or Xhaka I'm taking Xhaka every single time

Gary Neville on the Arsenal win vs Aston Villa: "It's all too desperate. Too much emotion too early. Emotion in football, when you're playing and you're that desperate, and you celebrate that much and you've still got half the race to go almost, it's not a good thing."

He's sticking to his guns and giving us zero credit at all this season. Now it is more likely we don't win the title than we do, so I'm sure Neville will come out at the end if that happens and say he was right all along - which is nonsense because he didn't even have us in the top 4 at the start of the year.

I don't understand his talk of being 'desperate' - we scored 93rd minute winner coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 down in a game we totally dominated the 2nd half so it was more a relief that we finally scored rather than any desperation. If it was desperate it would have been long balls pumped in the box with no composure. Just watch the passing for the 3rd goal v Villa it was anything but desperate!

Its pure b*(*(x! When Fergie's teams showed the same level of desire it was wasn't desperation it was 'intensity'.

Ramsdale, White, Gabriel, Saka, Ødegaard, Martinelli, Saliba, Trossard, Jorginho, Xhaka, Zinchenko.

Subs: Turner, Tierney, Partey, Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Kiwior, Holding, Tomiyasu, Vieira.

Arsenal have named an unchanged XI for the 12th time in the Premier League this season.

They have only done that once before, back in 1996-97.
Thank you BBC (About the only decent thing they do these days) :1laughter:

We've not started brilliantly here, bit sloppy and not sharp enough. Giving far too much encouragement to Everton who have given something on the counter

This inverted fullback is leading us wide open to counter-attacks

the constant 'injuries' and taking an age over restarts is giving absolutely no rhythm to the game

if we lose the ball there is a bit of a miss-match in pure running power through midfield. Dacoure, Onana are very powerful and cover the ground quickly.

We need to be pinning them in better and having Gabriel and Saliba like a rash over Maupay so there is no outlet and the pressure is relentless, this is how you create mistakes as you force them to concentrate without the ball constantly which is difficult
