I have a friend who knew his adoptive family – and Dele – quite well. The parents of his best friend in the M K Dons youth set-up could see he was being dragged down by a corrosive family set-up, so they just took him in. He became one of their family and living in a stable and comfortable household, he flourished. The team-mate, whom he regards as a brother, didn’t make the grade but I believe he became (and still is) Dele’s manager.

He credits his adopted family for ‘saving his life’ in his own words

We took in our best friend who was orphaned pretty early. My older brothers best friend. I was too small to remember but he was treated no different any one else and mentally/emotionally as much as my brother as my blood siblings. Italian American background. I picked up some Sicilian slang from him.

But I've seen some similar stories to Deli. Some heartbreaking stories. Some very sad stuff. Makes you question a lot of things.

Watching the friendly v Nuremberg.

Still not convinced by the latest iteration of Vieira.

Can anyone persuade me otherwise?

I have a lot of thinking to do about how I regard some other people, especially in terms of how I judge people I don't really know.

(But I don't think I'm wrong about Johnson, Hateley Brewer, Morgan, Farage, Oakeshott, Wootton, Yaxley Lennon, Rees Mogg, Dorries, the S*n etc., because there's plenty of evidence to confirm they are the worst examples of humanity)

Saliba is playing, so his back is better.

Didn’t watch the friendly but read some reports from fans. Seems a lot of them are very impressed with Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri, seemed to fit well it’s the first team players.

Used to get free tickets for the Barnet friendlies at underhill. In a fair few we’d spend the 2nd half in the bar having a drink up rather than watching the actual game which was dire and boring. Not the same watching a hugely fat version of Arshavin going through the motions. Friendlies are exercise for the players, that’s all. Anyone paying that money to watch them online just be mentally ill.

Interesting quote from Arteta about Havertz… sounds like you are looking at a formation change or Rice is actually being signed to replace xhaka and we will have a midfield 3 of Partey, Ødegaard and Rice which sounds very combative with Havertz being cover.

Arteta: He’s not a replacement [for Xhaka]. He’s not gonna be a like-for-like because everybody’s going to be very different to what Granit gave us. It will be very different but Kai has tremendous qualities for our way of playing.

It's an age thing, you'll find out one day.

You however are just biased. Wooton eg talks sense and more times than not is 100% correct in what he's saying.

How useful would the Saudi clubs have been when we were struggling to get rid of Özil, Aubameyang and others?

Villa have bid £30m for Moussa Diaby, lots of bigger clubs than Villa are rumoured to be after him and the price was closer to £60m

Keep an eye on Villa next year, their record after Emery came in was top 6 form. Emery thrives in that slight underdog situation. I think they could be strong next year especially if they can keep key players through the spine fit - Martinez, Mings/Torres, Luiz, Watkins. They've added Tielemans and Jacob Ramsey is rapidly improving. If they get some more quality in the wide attacking positions they have a very good starting 11

I was just saying the same thing last night; I think Villa may be the surprise team this next season.

Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber to be confirmed as Arsenal players 100% today.

(If it doesn't happen, read this again tomorrow).

Balogun's pace and movement off the shoulder of the last defender are excellent and provides him with countless opportunities, as seen last year in France and even yesterday. I just don't know if his all round game is good enough or if his slightly one-dimensional style suits the way we want to play. In the right set-up he could bang I'm just not sure if that's us.

Basically if you are a Wally in your 30’s who believes everything in the sun newspaper that’s likely to continue into your 70s unless you find Buddhism or something.

I think this is a pretty good take. Like I’ve said for ages it will be interesting to see what we do here

So ... its your grey hairs and experience vs. John's tender years and naivety.

But ... you don't actually know how old John is, do you?

I would suggest that people tend to get stupider, or at least more dogmatic , from about 40 onwards, particularly because they think they know it all, and they have learned to seal off those aspects of reality that clash with their mindset and morality.

It doesn't only happen to people on the right. Look at Roger Waters for example!

You are such a patronising *%^@. Since 2011 people have been complaining about Child grooming among other things. Twats ignored the facts and mainly waived it away as young girls making it up.

Surprise surprise today Pakistani men, but not just Pakistani men, have been charged and found guilty of this heinous crime.

It takes intelligence to accept that it has been ongoing for many years and stupidity to deny it existed back then and still exists now.

Which are you?

MLS has potential to play that hybrid full-back role.

I read a fair bit from people who have a much better overview of youth football and they rate these two at 16 years old above, well above, anything in that age group and above!

Some people who watched the game said that Nwaneri looks more physically ready for the premier league at 16 than Fabio Vieira does.

At the moment Vieira feels a little bit like the odd man out in the squad. There are plenty in the squad who we know will leave either because they're pushing for it or the club are pushing for it. Everyone else feels very much like they can contribute - apart from Vieira right now

I like Holding. But Kiwior seems better with a far better upside. Unless he's willing to be a squaddie and be 4th choice. However if we need the money, lets sell.

Not sure if he's willing to go to Turkey though? I'd think a promoted side or a bottom half of the table side would be interested in him.

I hear ya on Villa. I've posted them. I think they will be a sleeper club that will get some shock results against much bigger sides.

Some talk of the Saudi club coming in with a proper bid for Partey, and that Arsenal are willing to sell IF we get the fee we want AND have a replacement lined up. The replacement names I've read are Caicedo, Frenkie De Jong, Tchoumeni, Camavinga and Lavia. The first 4 on that list would cost a lot of money. Lavia and Caicedo would be the most attainable but we'd have to beat others to their signature.

Keep an eye on Xavi Simons as well
