Man U dominating Chelsea in the first 20 mins although it's still goalless.

When are the press really going to call out Jadon Sancho and Man U for what a terrible signing he’s been. He was great at Dortmund, goals and assists aplenty- looks terrible now

Finally McTominey is properly punished for his reckless behaviour on a football pitch. Came on as a sub at 0-0, rugby tackled someone at a corner, penalty Chelsea 1-0 87th minute.
Nice one Scotty

94th minute equaliser for Man U. 1-1 is a great result for us here

A 0-0 would have been better though. That late equaliser is a big boost for Man U.

Antony is a horrible little player. I can see him getting red cards. He's also ridiculously one-footed. He doesn't even try to kick the ball with his right foot.

Aubamayang looked absolutely lost. Completely anonymous.

I read something someone said going back to the Man U away game when we’d got it back to 1-1 and then seemed to go for it too much and got caught and lost.
This person said they think Arteta is willing to go for the win late on in these tight matches…..and that this had some logic because you only need to win 1 in 3 of those tight games to get the same points as the 3 draws you could decide to lock down the result for.

The counter argument is if you’re playing a top 6 rival you’re giving them an extra 2 points. So I’d prefer us to ‘go for it’ against non top 6 sides, but particularly away from home to a top 6 side you sometimes need more caution and take the point home

Red cards, for a Man U player? Given what McTominey and the very snide Bruno are allowed to get away with I can see Anthony picking up any reds whilst he’s at Man U

Pogba didn't get any favourable treatment. Antony seems like a hothead to me and he looks like a gangbanger.

A gangbanger. I will look up the urban dictionary and see if it has any photos to demonstrate.

We seem to have remarkably few draws, especially considering that many of our games are close.

Must admit I don’t think 1-1 or 0-0 makes much, if any, difference. The fact is Chelsea and Manchester United both dropped two points. For me, that’s the most important thing.

Obviously if it should happen, I'd love for us to win the league. As unlikely as it may be. I'd love for us to be only the 2nd team (Leicester 2017 I think) to win the EPL having not being 3rd or better the previous season. (I remember those debates....haha)

That being said, its why I want us to finish 3rd. I still put stock in that stat because it's been proven over and over again. The exception making it the exception. It's not a 100 percent stat obviously but 29 out of 30 years is tough to argue against. Although at the time, people did but I suspect if anyone else had posted that stat, it would have been greeted with 'Oh, that's interesting'. It was more about who posted rather than the stat itself.

Arsenal are mold breakers anyway. So, let's see what happens and like Mikel said he was taught by Pep: learn how to win every 3 days.

Fair enough, but I wouldn't put too much stock in that stat especially for Arsenal.

We won the league in 1989 and 1991 after coming 6th and 4th the preceding years. In 1971, we won after coming 12th the preceding season :laughing7: :laughing7:

Interesting stats! And, as you say, given that football did actually exist prior to 1992, I'm surprised that there haven't been more pundits drawing our attention to the most relevant precedent to our circumstance: the 1985/86 season. Underestimated by many, Man United came storming out of the blocks, winning their first 10 league games. By season's end, though, they'd slumped to fourth and sacked the manager. (Sorry, Mikel, it was nice while it lasted ...)

Huge game today. No away game in this league is easy but after points dropped by Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U and with Spurs v Newcastle today a win would put us
7 ahead of spurs (before their game)
9 ahead of Chelsea
10 ahead of Man U
14 ahead of Liverpool

Then have Forest at home next. It’s a massive opportunity to put some psychological and physical distance between us and most of the big 6

There is a piece in the telegraph called ‘how Arsenal dribbled their way to the top of the league’ this season we’re ranked first for dribbles, last year 14th and the season before 17th

Yes, Soton aren't doing great this year but they have often been a banana peel for us when we play there. They sometimes catch us unawares. I'm hoping we start off fast and furious.

That said, I recall someone at the pub in LA many years ago said, he always used to bet against teams in the north, especially Newcastle and Sunderland when they play at Soton or Pompey because it was the farthest to travel and that little extra travel ends up with them not being completely prepared. Not sure how much truth is in that theory but I was told that. I heard the same about northern sides having to come to the Capital.

It's better to being chase than chasing and we have wiggle room. Haven't had this feeling (challenging at the top) for a long time. As I recall, far more butterflies in this situation.

I moan about it every week but I do think Arteta is getting it wrong with the full backs. I felt it made a massive contribution to our problems in the 2nd half at leeds.

Until we lose a game he won’t change it though and I’m not surprised at the team selection.

Massive game, Rich.

A win would open up a gap that whilst being far from insurmountable would leave the chasing group with little room for manouvre.

We have to perform today, no excuses.

Really attractive football, beautiful set up for the overlap. It's become normal for us to play flowing, usually one touch football.

How is that not a penalty?

No attempt to play the ball. Every attempt to grab the man.

Almost the same as McTomminey's yesterday. A stonewaller.

I like how Jesus, slips into a false 9 position at times as well. We are dangerous. I am still going to be cautiously optimistic.

Yes it’s great. He drops deep to collect the ball, gets fouled by the clumsy centre back trying to chase him and the ref doesn’t bother giving A FOUL 95% of the time :58big-emoticons:
