I thought it was a mistake to sub off Fodon but Grealish made it a good sub. City finally pressing more and commanding more. City are used to a lot of possession even on away games but Man Utd were stifling them in the first half.

It's interesting seeing how Man Utd chase the game. They commit a lot of bodies to the opposition at the back. It's going to be tough to break out of that. You need both skilled players on the ball and cool heads who don't make dumb mistakes.

Poor decision. Rashford clearly interfering with play.

City surrounding ref, 1-1 Man U goal imo was offside Rashford interfering with play even if he never touched it.

Just seen a similar incident as the Ref and Lino are surrounded for Mancs’ equaliser.

What are the chances?

Spoke too soon. Man Utd equalizer. I thought he was offside.

I’ll be there.

Despite everything it’s still the first fixture I look for when the fixtures are released. Arsenal v man united what a wonderful world. Rarely a bad game

How can that equaliser for Man U be allowed to stand? That’s a disgrace. Doesn’t matter if Rashford didn’t touch the ball, the pass was meant for him, he ran on to it, let the ball run between his legs and was just about to shoot before he left it for Bruno because Rashford was a mile offside!

Charge for this?
So that’s wolves, Forest, Fulham, Leeds and City all doing as much if not more than we did v Oxford….basically every single game involving a prem team since the Oxford game. No charges for any of those teams yet

It makes it worse that VAR overturned the correct decision. The commentators were pleased, though.

Edit: I see it was the ref who overturned. Not quite as bad.

Because the laws of the game have mutated into something quite incomprehensible to longstanding fans and seemingly unreasonable. Quite mad.

Peter Walton said that by the law then the goal should stand. One could almost hear the implication that ‘yes it is nuts’.

How can Rashford not be deemed to be interfering with play here. One of the worst decisions this season. Man U fans, pro man u media and any media facing ex-ref will probably defend it but surely no one wants that to be allowed to count as a goal

These are the laws. Surely Rashford running on to, dummying and finally just pulling out of the shot falls under these rules for interfering with play

Gallagher's explanation is that is irrelevent. What matters is that he (supposedly) did not interfere with an opponent, and the ball would have gotten through to Bruno if Rashford hadn't been there.

I think that is a massive stretch because, although the ball would indeed have reached Bruno, the two defenders and Ederson would have been focussed on closing him down.

I was wondering how the goal stood. Still don't quite understand it. Refereeing decisions are having a bigger impact on outcomes when we thought having VAR and more time for scrutiny would result in games without much controversial events.

I would routinely ignore anything dermot Gallagher says, he’ll trample over his gran’s grave to agree with the onfield decision.
Rashford is in between the city defender and the ball - it is irrelevant if you think the City defender is going to get there. Gallagher actually shows himself up by saying ‘if rashford wasn’t there’ how naive, he is there and is massively effecting play, defenders and gk

Liverpool and Chelsea are having absolute horror seasons. In any other season their seasons would virtually seal top 4 for the other 4 of the big 6, but Newcastle are having a tremendous season.

Time for us to make sure spurs drop back with the rest

The Saudi's money is having a good season. Newcastle bought what they could and have a great manager but the fact remains without that money they would have been very limited in how much they could spend and who they could attract. It will increase more and more till they are champions.

As you say - a massive stretch. Just seems plain wrong.

PS Was it Gallagher (not Walton)? I must have misremembered that bit.

I am nervous about the next 2 games. We could lose both and the heat would be on. Win both and we are in a really good position.

I hope there is a plan B if they do. Not getting reinforcements in this window would be mistake. We were linked to Danilo who is off to Forest https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/footbal ... r-AA16j0Qw

At this point it’s the most absurd and boring thing I’ve ever seen. We should bail and look elsewhere. They have spent the most insane amount of money and that d******* owner is just chucking cash around because they are so hysterically hopeless.

*%^@*** scummy little club Chelsea are.
If they meet the asking price we will bail out.
The only way it goes for us is if Mudryk refuses to go there.

I’m reminded of the old David Dein quote about Chelsea parking their tank on our lawn and firing money at us. Things haven’t changed in that regard.

He was the type of player we really needed as well.

How are Chelsea possibly abiding by FFP rules?
