You can not play Mustafi in a team that you are getting pressed from the back. The commentator said a few minutes before Chelsea should close down every player except Mustafi because he seems nervous each touch.

Well the rules were different back then, the ref in the CL final had two choices he could send Lehmann off or play the advantage and give the goal.
I thought the rule had changed to avoid the double punishment of red card AND penalty because the reason the red card is given is denying the goal, but all you’re doing is delaying the goal as the penalty is such a gift wrapped opportunity

No, it’s still a red for deliberate fouls. They relaxed the rule for accidental fouls, whatever they are

Ok, just read that if it is considered an attempt to play the ball it is no red card, as Luiz just shoves him so not considered an attempt for the ball it can still be a red card apparently

Mustafi is a joke of a footballer.

But this situation will tell us a lot about the motivation of this set of players.

It is Mustafis fault and god knows he’s hopeless but our defence is always under constant pressure because we as a team are unable to move the ball up the pitch or retain possession. It doesn’t help.

I think 3 games is only for serious foul play or violent conduct. Straight reds can be only 1 game, such as handball on the line or what Luiz did. I’m certain it’ll only be 1 game.....and that could be the FA cup game.

Luiz's attempt to clear the ball is ludicrous, such a stupid challenge. So clearly a foul rather than an attempt to defend.

Pépé is not even looking like a player. He is such a whiner. Play on, instead of "putting hand on head" after every miss, or "appeal for a foul" when you lose the ball. Giroud used to do that too.

Agree on Pépé, he’s very sadly starting to move into potential flop territory for me. Apart from anything else he’s apparently suited to a counterattacking style of play, a style we aren’t aiming for. Although in his defence (I wish we had one) we’ve not got near a recognisable style of play since forever.

If he takes Martinelli off and leaves Özil on I will be dismayed. Get Özil off and at least leave us with some pace up top on the break.

Pépé has amazingly quick feet and dribbling ability but he just isn't able to impose himself on a game.
