It’s a relief that this keeper opts against the playing out from the back routine.

Guendouzi has been excellent since he came on.

Well fancy that. We get to injury time and can’t see the game out.

Where is the marking? Holding just drifts around the box.

That says it f%&$#n all about defence and effort at this club. Saka couldn't be bothered and Guendouzi did not mark. We look totally shattered after conceding. Lets see how they go on pens

Awful attempts at tackling from Saka.

This is bloody embarrassing I'm gonna have to hide should we lose this on pens.

Without the ball we are just an absolute shambles. Embarassing.

Do our players actually understand the concept of defending because it does not look like it.

I am just stunned by the sheer incompetence of our defensive work.

We didn’t look the same after Özil came off.

Handed the impetus to Liverpool. Our forays forward stopped.

Same old *%^@ different day

The defending or lack of it is a shocking indictment of Emery. Even if we win on penalties our defence has been poor.

Our defence is pretty bleeding average. Barring the dollop that is Mustafi, that finishing back four would be many people’s first choice. Can’t say I’ve been particularly impressed by Holding or Bellerin.

Yeah for those who told us Holding would make a difference - tonight taken apart - the first Origi goal was a disaster plus a late loose pass across the box.

I don't agree with a lot of what you say at times - but you are spot on with this observation.

Hopeless defending from both teams. Really enjoyable game though

Get that Spanish *%^@ out of this club, he's stinking the place out.

Taking Özil off was just plain stupid management.

*%^@ me. Did people notice that the much touted Bellerin, Tierney Holding (who would fix our defence) were all on the field. I am pissed off big time.

Some excellent performances from some our players, totally undone by extreme levels of dross elsewhere.

It's the League Cup but yet again we fall short.

Banter football club

Our problems are continual. Major change is required.

We just aren’t competing. Major questions have to be asked

I thought Mustafi, Holding, Bellerin and Kolasinac were terrible all night.

Willock and Torreria failed to track runners all night. Saka in the second half left Harvey Elliot with the freedom of the right flank.

We just seem incapable of doing the basics.

We played like an enthusiastic but not very well managed youth side.

Tierney has been good, Holding wasn’t great but is playing alongside an absolute clown.

Our substitutions were silly. Pépé for Maitland niles was a must. They were there to be hit on the break.

Shame to go out, but this comp is a troublesome one if you get to the semi’s, it’s hands you don’t need and City win this comp with their 2nd team every year.
Nice to see some free flowing creative attacking play. Worrying to see a Senior back 4 still concede 5 goals and continually give up a lead and not see out a game.

Let’s see some of that team in for Saturday.

They were younger than us LTG and had kids on the bench as well.

There are two parts to the game....what you do with the ball and what you do without it. If you completely ignore one part then is it any surprise that you throw away leads and lose games.

I am just really sad at the state of our club.

Great game etc etc and got to hand it to Liverpool for the usual never say die attitude but that's a humiliating result for Arsenal tonight. Our line up and bench was much stronger than theirs and twice we held two goal leads.

Our defending is a disaster no matter the personnel . Not enough guys afraid to lose the game. Shocking in the 50/50s and unable to stop crosses a fault for years.

Scundered.

Özil playing intelligently takes him off

Torreira chasing everything like a demented Rottweiler.., takes him off with 20 minutes to go.

They instantly start playing inside our half,

I wasn’t referring to the age of our team, nor trying to mitigate the overall awfulness.

It was simply that it reminded my of the sort of football that I would see from a youth match in the park.

I like it more than the Europa bleeding league.

The competition is just horrid, ruins league campaigns and means we can’t get Saturday games.

It’s not so much the competition just the Groundhog Day performance at Anfield again. Bad defending again, stupid management decisions again.
