Bertie Mee who was a hell of lot closer to the action than you were ....... said the same .

Now of course you don't like Bertie Mee either so that's going to lead to another little mini froth at the mouth .

Plucking names out the distant past to bolster your case Gus Caesar , Geoff Blockley , Ian Ure ..... who's up next Tommy Caton , Paul Mariner , Stepanovs , Les Compton

Pete on the Beach is right , Gaz got the Young connection awry but he is also in the main right .

You and Wenger could well be twins , obstinate , stubborn , love Germans , irrational , can't be told anything , won't listen to reason , repeat the same thing over and over ...... the similarities are endless

You proved nothing. A big fat zero. Bertie Mee was the manger who nearly got us relegated, and a big reason for that was him signing Mancini. So I couldn't give a toss if he tried to justify that signing by claiming otherwise.

To be fair Bernard you have proved a big fat zero neither, so on we go

Sorry his exact words were:

"I still think John Lukic is one of the best keepers in the country; I just think David Seaman is the best".

I remember people on the North Bank singing "Don't go, Johnny" to Lukic prior to his sale to Leeds - he was held in huge affection by the fans and most were glad to see him come back as well.

A legend?

I'll leave that one to Bernard.

But I never claimed to have proved Mancini was useless, that's the difference. It was an opinion I formulated from watching him live.

Yeah me too. You won't agree maybe but I would put him slightly ahead of Lehman but after Jennings and Seaman (of goalies I have seen).

Ooh tough shout - Lukic just about for me as I don't recall him doing anything as daft as blatantly pushing an opposition player in full view of the world. Mind you, Lehmann wins on the warm ups - easy.

Neither. Richard Wright or Almunia. However, at least Wenger dropped the former when he flopped. Installing Manuel as no.1 despite all the evidence that he wasn't up to it was a sign of Wenger's losing it.

Lehmann had some dodgy patches which Lukic didn't really. Also Lukic was part of a more important period in our history including Anfield 89. So I would go Jennings, Seaman and Lukic as the three best keepers of the era I have witnessed. Rimmer obviously had his best years at Villa, Čech a magnificent keeper but best years at Chelsea. The rest are all a bit of a blur - Fabianski is actually a decent enough keeper - although I still like seeing Vito Mannone whenever he rocks up at Griffin Park with another championship side.

Still *%^@* me right off that Chezzers is doing the business for Juve.

I'd forgotten about him. He was pretty weak alright. Almunia gets my vote though. Bloody awful keeper.

It was one of those dodgy spells from Lehmann that got Almunia a run in the team. Jens' top level was better than Lukic though. He was world class at his peak.

Kevin Campbell better than Welbeck

Yeah didn't include Wright cos he was always a stopgp. Almunia was pretty bad too. Feck me weve had some shite goalkeepers. :laughing7:

I thought Wright was bought to be our new no1?

'Stopgap' would be pretty good for a keeper actually :laughing7: :laughing7: 'Sieve' would be more apt for Fab or Almunia, sadly.

It's possible that you are right about Fab. I can't remember any specifics ... just a blurry sense of him flapping horribly in the Champs league.

John Lukic really really wasn't a pretty weak keeper. Did you actually see him play? Not a sarcastic question, you might just be young.

I was referring to George Wood. Lukic was very good.

And thanks for the compliment :icon_mrgreen1:

I thought you might have been actually but if you look at the post you quoted it wasn't the Wood one.

I think Furnell was a Burnley boy...we'd need Hoy to verify that but he's obviously at church PRAYING for a City victory tonight so he can come and taunt the less faithful...

Annoyingly I'm being dragged to watch First Aid Kit which I don't want to do because weather and weather and weather.

Ah. I see what I did. I quoted the wrong post. Bernard mentioned George Wood but I picked up a different post of his. I am on my phone and not wearing my specs (I'm not that young :icon_sad1: )

Stoke tickets gone to general sale.

Can't give em away at the moment. Only way we could make them less attractive would be to stick Wengers face on every ticket, the loopy selfish bellend that he is

He was absolutely abysmal but hardly ever played. To get in my 'worst ever' team a player would have to have had a reasonable number of appearances.

One could imagine a 'damage index', calculated as NxC, where N is number of games and C is intensity of crapness (inverse of usual player rating). Stepanovs was like an attack of acute menigitis or being bitten by a mamba (stratospheric C but mercifully low N) whereas Almunia became like something fouling the water. Really not great multiplied by 175 games :icon_sad1:

And again we left the winger free. Too much space and time for them.

Sane is doing for us, what Özil and Ramsey used to do. Özil hardly impacts games anymore. Ramsey tries, but no longer have it. Receding as a team. Wenger out!

Always too easy to play against. Teams with half our ability make things far harder for city.
Barca and Bayern players have said they used to love drawing us because they would enjoy the game because they know we would let them play.
Basically if you are a better team than us and you play near or close to tour potential you will win
