Oh well. Play ok for 45 minutes and then concede in stoppage time. Nothing changes

Now we are reminded why Luiz wasn’t in the starting lineup.

I heard a bit of commentary part way through the half was that Arsenal had played ok but you never feel they can do that all game without making a big mistake. Sure enough there it is.

What I wouldn't give for players who don't make these stupid unforced errors for goals, we make so many. If a team beats you with a good shot or good move it will happen, but when so many of our goals conceded seem to be us shooting ourselves in the foot it is so frustrating.

As far as I'm aware with the 5 subs rule we've got three possible players we can bring on but only one opportunity to do it. As we've used two for the injured players we've used up two of the three we have.

I think that you’re right. I had forgotten that. Adds to the complexity now.

Why call it 5 subs then? we have 9 subs on the bench? Isn't the reason they made it 5 subs was so we could use more players during the game. I hope you're wrong.

edit: from the Sun "FIVE ALIVE Premier League clubs allowed to make five subs per game with nine on bench after agreeing on emergency law change".

I had my first child during lockdown in April. Someone asked me if I wanted him to be an Arsenal fan. Genuinely paused :laughing7: He’s asleep now the worst he knows is global pandemic and society breakdown. He doesn’t need David Luiz too.

Because 5 subs is 10 possible stoppages during the match if they can be done individually. The new system is reasonable. I hope some manager brings on 5 players at once. That would be funny.

Yes, but only three interruptions allowed for substitutions.

FA have to complicate everything don't they...............

Isn't that why VAR is so ineffectual?

David Luiz. Useless. At least he’s off. He can’t do any more damage.

So unbelievably inept.

Hilarious.

F off Luiz, and when you get there, F off even further.

Luiz, what an idiot of a player. The guy no longer has interest in Arsenal.

Pathetic. Being let down by 1 guy. That must be the 3rd or 4th penalty Luiz has conceded by just pulling a player back in the box - totally brainless. He did it this season v Chelsea, he MUST know that it is a penalty and red card

Thanks Dec, furlough helps, effectively I've had 3 months of paternity leave, so massive silver lining for us there. *%^@*** David Luiz... :22cry:

He has cost us £24 million for one season. People up stairs need to be held to account for this purchase. Exactly the type of centre back we did not need.

That red card is a good example of why I find modern football pretty crap. Not defending Luiz at all but a peno and red card for something like that is a crazy punishment. It's a peno. That's it.

Agree with that. Wasn’t there some talk a while ago about stopping double jeopardy?

Willockfor sure doesn't look fit. Aubameyang also looks below par.

I'd agree. They changed the rule so that clear goalscoring chances in the box aren't red cards as well as penalties because the point was the clear goal scoring chance had not been denied - only delayed. The caveat on the rule is if you make no attempt to play the ball.
I'd also say players who do it are stupid, particularly with VAR, why do you think you're going to get away with it, VAR will always review it even if the ref misses it.

Luiz has put all his money on that William Hill offering of City to win at 25/1. It’s the only reasonable explanation why a so-called professional would play like a 5 year old.

That explains it. I have to observe that Luiz is a particularly frustratingly stupid player.

Luiz has equalled the prem record for most penalties conceded in a league season.

If anyone at Arsenal thinks of sanctioning another year deal for him I'm going to be mad. I'd rather play a youth team player now.

We’re actually getting stuffed here.

Never mind attack, do we have a midfield?

Guendouzi looks to have matured. Aubameyang not in it at all.

Fingers crossed that the 3 subs thing works. Another injury would be massive, albeit this game has gone anyway (a bit like this season really).

Yes. It’s annoying because I pay extra for 4K but that has the rubbish noise added. So now I’m watching the HD version. If this carries on then I’ll alter my Sky subscription.

Oh I know it is the rule. It's just really stupid and another absurdity of the game these days.
