Can our top manager ( :20hospitals: ) turn the team around in his half-time pep talk?

There are two schools of thought on whether a football team needs a defence........Arsene Wenger says you don't, everybody else says you do.

The desire that Austin showed to score was inversely proportional to the desire our defenders showed to try and stop him.

We are certainly the world's best at fannying around with the ball on the edge of the opposition box.

Anyway my general lack of interest in American Gooner extends to his blocking policy although I am grateful for his lengthy and entirely non-attention seeking explanation. I adopt the radical position of scrolling past 99% of his posts which is easy enough to do. I occasionally see people replying to him and feel they are sometimes too directly abusive - something I have mentioned before. Sadly it earns me no brownie points in Philly as I am on the list of those who have upset him.

I would observe, however, that this list of "trolls" is pretty long and seems to extend to everybody bar Hodd and Hoy. I would also observe that when he doesn't get the abuse he so ostentatiously ignores, he normally goes looking for it - a phenomenon I have witnessed on several occasions. This reduces any sympathy I might have for him.

Now in my line of work I might not like a note. But when the list of people giving me the same note grows longer by the day, I sometimes have to stop and contemplate the terrible prospect that they might be on to something.

Same goes for Wenger really.

Knew bloody Charlie Austin would score if he played.
About 3 minutes too.
Pathetic
Why do we always give these teams a helping hand???!![

I will never understand why you never get penalties for the yoshida late tackle of Lacazette? Just because Lacazette got the shot away and it went over he bar yoshida slices right through him moments after. Anywhere else on the pitch and it is a free kick, it’s nonsense that the ball is dead because imagine a defender whacking the ball in to row z and getting cleaned out right after by the centre forward.....free kick 100% of the time. I would love a ref or former ref to let us know why they are never given?

It's this kind of backstabbing and needling of our great manager that I find very disappointing in you, Socrates.

A line by Tom Baker in Blackadder, albeit over whether ships need crews not a football team's defence.

Far Corner immediately came to my mind because I enjoyed it very much. I'll have to give the other book a read. Thanks for the recommendation.
I have a tonne of biographies I want to read. Arsenal and non Arsenal related. I will have a lot of free time after the holidays. I will catch up on my reading. Possibly next season, I plan to take a month going to different matches in England. Arsenal and non Arsenal. Brentford for sure as far as non Arsenal sides goes. I want to see a lot of the different grounds around the country.
Due to the 6 degrees of separation that Facebook as become I discovered I have distant relatives in England (London, Coventry, one or two other spots).

Brilliant protection of the Kronjuwelens there from Per. And now he's off.

If the ball is already out of play, how can a free kick or penalty be the right decision?

As some northerner (I guess) once said - "we're as dull as dishwater".

Woeful owner
Terrible manager
Average players

We'll probably win 2-1 now.

Is there anything more pointless than an Arsenal corner? Saints have looked so comfortable they're not breaking sweat.

I think the problem I we're too static. Nobody running into space at all. We need to stretch them.

Debuchy must be a better player than Bellerin. He's bloody useless.

Bellerin is terrible today. His confidence and abilities has deteriorated quite rapidly

We need more players to play with the drive and daring of Alexis, Wilshere and Ramsey.

Sadly, the only new coach we are going to get is the one that ferries the players to and from the games.

Without a doubt, if Wenger ( :20hospitals: ) goes, we will get better. Both as a team and as a club.

A Mharez or Lemar would helpthen we could get rid of Sanchez, Welbeck and Bellerin.

Wenger will continue to go for the "broken" players at cheap prices. That is his measure of getting value. Welbeck is out injured more often than on the field. And has also deteriorated in his game. Hardly any impact from him nowadays.

Kolasinac seemed to hold himself back in the second half. He did not seem to want to support the attack as much as he normally does. Perhaps he was asked to fall back, to give Monreal cover. He was absent from his position for their first goal.

Xhaka does nothing useful for the team. He leaves the defence open, and hardly is back to play defense when our midfield is penetrated. And when he has the ball, he slows down the game. And like Ramsey of the past, more sideway and backward passes from him. Too laboured in his play. And not to mention the high percentage of misplaced passes.
