Plenty on the bench in case of emergencies.

Looking forward to watching Nelson's continuing upward arc (hopefully).

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, White, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Elneny, Sambi Lokonga, Nelson, Vieira, Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus.

Subs: Partey, Saka, Ødegaard, Martinelli, Saliba, Soares, Tomiyasu, Alencar, Hein, Zinchenko, Smith, Hillson

Nice to see Elneny back and Zinchenko on the bench there

Very sad news regarding Bernard. Proper Arsenal supporter. Obviously I had met him a number of occasions though not for a good few years. Knowledgable about Arsenal and lovely hair.

I was looking on Twitter for him the other day but his account was not showing which prompted to make enquires which is how I found out. I have let Nico know as well.

RIP Bernard.

Hi Steve,

Good to see you back on the forum (along with many others I might add) and I noticed you mentioned Nico, unfortunately I lost his contact details about 15 years ago if I provided you with my email address could I ask for his please? I would really appreciate it. Strangely enough I was always going to ask Bernard the same question but just never got round to it.

Maybe not in the stuff you write but I believe character development is still a thing in successful drama. Could be wrong though, I don't watch much telly these days.

Nor me. But you won’t, of course, have forgotten that I always have one foot firmly in the formalist school and I hold firmly to the Schklovsky view that the plot is a method of character analysis.

Well that had slipped my mind I must admit, but it's an interesting point of view. Where may I ask is your other foot? And is it equally firmly entrenched or does it move about a bit?

Babu's comments were quite entertaining, even if out there at times.

Well we are playing Zurich. Hopefully he's firing up a bong somewhere and checks in.

Zurich was his second team.

Decent left foot that bloke.

[Edit: Tierney, not Daz]

I half expected Bernard to come after me for my post about Tierney before the Nottingham game, and was a bit surprised he didn't. Seems fitting Tierney'sscored a cracking goal just now

I see the Zurich fans have the obligatory deeply irritating drummer in their ranks.

PSV put Gakpo and Simmons on the bench tonight, two of their best players. They have to win to stand any chance of topping the group. Seems like they might be conceding top spot and saving those players from playing on the plastic pitch

Wow, that was a very good jump by Nketiah. Unfortunate he directed the ball towards the keeper.

We're putting them under a lot of pressure with our pressing. Second feels like it's coming.

Yes, lucky they didn't slow down. We need a second goal to calm the nerves.

Likewise, and everything crossed! I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this season as I was feeling so jaded by the way the game has gone, but also never foresaw us improving this much so quickly.

So much to like in that goal and the build-up to it.

Perhaps I'm unfairly so :26surprise:

No, I maintain my opinion. He's poor.
Should have passed to Nketiah earlier, he took forever with so much space to pass on.
And not able to take the ball forward too many times.

Eh?

The keeper was right on top of him as he got to the ball. He couldn’t have done any more than he did.

Jesus is doing everything right. This isn’t a lacazette situation where he’s missing absolute sitters.

It will come, my goodness he’s been unlucky. Hope he scores the attitude is spot on.
