Today he went down holding his face for contact on his chest. The women’s game just banned a spurs player for 2 games for attempting to deceive a match official - that is a clear case of that and any player doing it should be banned for 2 games as well. They’d stop doing it.

He’s no leader, he gave up today, sulked and threw a strop because his team were awful and got spanked. Showed his true colours for me

He also appeared to push a linesman. I expect no further action though

But at least he doesn't over-celebrate when they win!

To be fair he has been good this year but funny to see Martinez defend like this.

What a picture this is.
How different players react!
Nelson is the calmest man in the stadium
Saliba runs off to karate kick the corner flag
Gabriel is on his knees
Ødegaard is flat on his back
White is giving the gk some stick (assume after his time wasting and punching White in the back)
Zinchenko with the primal roar
Martinelli booting the ball high in the air
Other players chasing after Nelson
Jorginho on the pitch…
Ramsdale is one of the first to reach Nelson!
….and I’m sure every fan in the place going through their own uncontrolled celebration

Any Twitter compilation of Man Utd fans watching this game?

Souness and Neville going at it.

I can see both sides of this. I think when a team gets beaten like this after having won so many games you can call it a freak result but it can also make you look back at a lot of those wins and performances and perhaps reassess how good they actually were.

Having been there with Arsenal I know how he feels BUT I still really enjoyed his outrage. Can't stand the club, mind you I equally hate Liverpool as well.

The good thing about the Utd result was that I saw some of their players actually give up and stop trying. That type of culture is a gift to any adversary. Long may it continue.

He either doubles down on his views despite all evidence to the contrary or he shifts the goal posts to suit his argument

Sadly for Gary, he's no stranger to seven-goal hidings. His brief tenure at Valencia included a 7-0 thrashing by Barcelona, admittedly not helped by a red card to ... what was that guy's name again ... something Mustafi?

I wan to live to see:
* Arsenal put 8 or more past Man Utd
* win the CL
* have the most titles and FA cups
* win a quadruple

Anthony has to go down as the worst signing this season. £90m! What does the guy do that actually affects a football match? He can’t beat a full back with pace or skill, he rarely tries, his defensive contributions are not existent. Total waste of space this season.

Didn't we lose 6-0 or was it 6-2 to Man U and we went on to win the Premiership.? :42laughter:

He’s spectacularly useless. How bad must sancho be to sit in the bench with that guy in the 11

Wasn’t that the Rumbelows Cup in 1990? A ‘we are not that bothered’ game. It was before the Premiership but we did go on to win Div One with just a single defeat.

I don't know about the defeat but here is a reminder of the team who I consider the second best Arsenal side of all time and built on very little outlay.

Yep. Beat them a couple of months later with a Smudger hattrick after Forest beat L'pool. Apparently, most of the team started drinking before the game that won us the League!

Gary and Richard Keys are 2 top class pr***s
They decide and keep at their own narratives
Only way to show them up is to keep doing what we do best

He’s a total show pony, even yesterday when taking down a cross field pass he couldn’t resist over egging it. I was amazed he got a start at the World Cup with Brazil, he’s everything Martinelli isn’t, thankfully.

I totally agree. I'm getting on a bit now, and should have grown out of it, but, like ice cream, seeing United getting walloped remains one of life's joys.

Paul Davis was a very underrated player. Abszolute class.

A great team and sadly they do not get the recognition they deserve. One defeat and was it 25 clean sheets for the year. George was a great manager.

Probably because it happened in the dark ages before football started.

Anything pre-Premier League is lumped in with Wanderers and Royal Engineers.

Indeed. Football existed before the Premier League and there were many great players, and more than a few great teams, in the old First Division. One of my favourites was the Everton side that won the title in 1963 - Alex Young, Roy Vernon, Jimmy Gabriel, Billy Bingham and Gordon West - what talent. Always had a soft spot for The Toffees, so hope they do not get relegated.

Understandable though it was, the mass encroachment onto the pitch was a bit o.t.t.

To be fair, he did say Sperz were down 2-0 to the same side and came back 3-2. I hadn't known that.

Yeah it was crazy. Usually I’d say let’s just ask for consistency….but I’m not sure we’ll see other teams have those scenes

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english ... y-red-card

This guy reviews all the var calls and possible calls each weekend. Ruled two of our handball shouts as nothing doing, 1 he said if it was given it wouldn’t have been over turned by VAR and the Mepham one that hit the post he was very lucky. That was the worst one for me.

What he didn’t mention was the kick through Tomiyasu and Neto punching White in the back in the area which could easily have been a penalty and a red card.

The biggest question for me on something like the Neto/White thing is how does var decide what to review and what not to? If you were watching the game you’d have easily missed that punch, but how can everyone in the var room be looking at every single incident in the game. That’s why I think there has to be some sort of fuss made on the pitch so someone in var can go ‘hello, what are they complaining about here, best take a look again’

It’ll be a big fine. Half the bench was on the pitch it’s not like it was 1 or 2. It was hysterical and I loved Jorginho leading the charge.

Still, compared to the other problems they have at the moment ... time wasting, VAR, players mobbing refs... you'd wonder how much of a priority this should be. Also, it does seem weird that we are the ones singled out again.

Perhaps because they don't have as much to celebrate? Look at the way Argentina's players behaved in the WCF. Much worse.
