I read that elsewhere. It is utterly baffling. Getting his costs off the books right now and netting a transfer fee would help us hugely in the summer. This season is ‘gone’ anyway and we certainly have enough players to see us through the last part of it.

IMO we missed 2 opportunities this transfer window and both worth a lot of money. Could have got rid of Özil and I think we should have tried to sell Aubameyang. There can only be one reason for the failure to sell Özil - Arteta must believe we are going to get sucked into the relegation battle. I have to say that we need a couple of wins really badly as we are not far off the bottom 3 now. A win over Burnley is an absolute must.

Not sure about Arteta's team especially the front four. Lacazette Martinelli Özil and thankfully Aubameyang is back.

iMO Lacazette is not in top form and Burnley are not the sort of team he likes playing against.

Shame our new cb isn't on the bench...............

I guess that flying from Brazil to London, then back to Brazil, then back to London again this week hasn’t left him in a great state.

Expect Burnley to be very kicky today, and expect Arsdnal to pick up the first yellow card of the game.
We all know what we have to fight against, so let’s just go all out and rough them up as well, take the yellow cards, scrap, fight and beat them 1-0.

Interesting team selection.

Arteta has got a lot of praise so far but I have been unconvinced by some of his team selections. Dropping Pépé seems incredibly harsh and you could even argue that dropping Torriera is unwarranted, despite the fact that Gwen played really well the other day.

I hope Özil puts a shift in because we can't afford passengers today.

Smith-Rowe scores and got an assist as his Huddersfield team lost 3-2 to Fulham.
Even if these young players don’t make it with us it seems they are making enough of a mark elsewhere to gain us a proper fee.
Nelson, Nketiah should be £15-20m. Brentford bid £5m for Balogun who’s nowhere near the first team yet

Aubameyang should have been on target.

Our players do a bit too much staying down, not really injured acting. It's embarrassing.

Can only get radio commentary today, Alan Green....sigh

“Arsenal players are complaining to the ref that it was a foul, the ref was close by so if it was a foul he would have seen it!”

Do Burnley fans just boo everything?
For a team who plays pretty simple rough, up and at ‘em football their fans seem very precious whenever a a tough tackle comes in from the opponents

It’s quite funny

They lose the plot if the ref gives us a throw in on the halfway line.

Proper Brexit it’s brilliant

Burnley almost exclusively attacking down their left flank.

In France neymar was given a severe dressing down by a ref for what the ref perceived as show boating as psg won 5-0. Neymar took some rough treatment and exacted his revenge by beating and embarrassing players with outrageous skill. If your opponents are fouling you then I’m all for embarrassing them with skill. The ref should be punishing the fouls not legitimate ways of beating a man.

That was close. A few golden chances from dead ball pieces from Burnley. Although we have had a chance or two ourselves.

I suppose it’s the classic case of a set of knuckle dragging fans waiting all week to let out their life frustrations at a 90 minute football match.

I actually like how tough the league seems from top to bottom. No easy matches.

Half those knuckle draggers had a street party Friday night.

They blame the ref for all of the problems in their life

Well yes Rich - they're Burnley fans. Try and find a ground in the entire country where fans treat the opposition the same as their own team, and you'll be looking a long time.

Our front 3 have been poor. Lacazette having a stinker.

Surreal, it's February and we are on the same number of points as Burnley. Never envisioned we'd sink this low. But will rise like a phoenix eventually, possibly sooner rather than later.

Not great is it. Three gilt edged chances but Burnley looking stronger as the half progressed.

Özil is taking Martinelli's space so we've no attacking threat down the right side. Lacazette's confidence is shot and Aubameyang is out of position despite a couple of well timed runs leading to great chances.

Gwen can't defend, more interested in holding opponents than actually defending.

I'd take off Özil off and put Pépé on. Take Lacazette off, put Aubameyang central and move Martinelli to the left.

Saka off with that injury, Xhaka to left back and Torreira on.

Can’t say that I’m enjoying the second half. We’re not at the races.

Willock for Özil. Özil didn’t do anything to show why we shouldn’t have accepted the Qatari bid.

How often do we have to replace a player during a game due to injury? Seems to happen every other game. First 3 choice left backs out injured now

Hard to see how we are going to score today. No real threat. Not remotely dangerous. We need another individual bit of brilliance from Martinelli again.

If its not being done, Guendouzi needs some personal coaching. Decision making, passing or looking up to make make passes, etc.
With all the playing time he gets he should be farther along in development. The matches should also serve as self coaching opportunities but he's not improving at the rate he should given the minutes he's played. He needs to see game films and pin point his areas that needs improving.

We're simply not at the races. The few great looks at goal are going wide (Willock, Bellerin).

How lucky was that?
