Surely his best plan of action is to keep showing up to work until he's asked not to. I'm guessing he won't even see the week out.

Agree entirely and have said the same a couple of times.

The Arsenal need to set the pace. Sack him for incompetence, let him sue us and prove he is competent.

Time to test the system imo............

Yep. Rumours are he's gone this morning.

I mean... that's quite a trek... But I can definitely see you leading that particular expedition with Captain Scott levels of steadfastness and fortitude :laughing7:

Ash ... it would be a labour of love ... I'd donate a couple of years to help build the boat .

Watching Emery , Xhaka and Özil sink beneath the waves would be right up there with my first bit of sex .

:laughing7: I keep typing in "Emery sacked" in the hope they will announce it at some odd hour when most of England is still asleep and I can be the first to announce it to the forum ....

I almost think the kindest thing for Emery is to sack him. What’s been happening lately must be horrible for him, as well as it has been for us fans.

Would agree. The guy seemingly puts his heart and soul into the job. Doesn't seem to be a bad guy. Couldn't really hate him the way one could easily hate Mourinho or Ferguson.

Absolutely right. He looked broken last night. It's only football when all is said and done.

Your GPS is malfunctioning here Granty .... the match was played at the Emirates .

Put him on the plane with the Frankfurt players would be a better idea ...... with a connecting flight to Vladivostok

Just read that due to his coaching badges Freddie can’t manage a club a period longer than 3 months.

Don’t know how true that is

I know it didn't end all that well and there was an obvious frost between he and AW - and by implication, the Club - but my clear preference would be Paddy.

Mertesacker can though and Freddie could assist till he get his badge.

What I'd hate to see is us doing a Man U and changing our manager every few months.

Let's keep it inhouse so many potential managers out there..........................

Has he done a Lampard or proved himself anywhere yet?

And if he doesn't and we have to sack him too?

No please not till he has proved himself.

Inevitable in the end. It just didn't work out, time to move on. Lots of interesting options for a replacement. I like most of the names that have been mentioned, apart from dinosaurs like Benitez and Ancelotti. Nuno, Arteta, Howe, Enrique, Pochettino, Allegri, all would be interesting choices for me.

The squad is good, we can still get top four with the right guy in charge and then build from there in the summer.

Camden saying on twitter we want Pochettino. He doesn’t have an agent.

For me that ticks all the boxes. Young, has a history of working with young players and a budget. Can speak English and Spanish, seems a good person and has a point to prove.

Failing that for me it’s paddy with a staff consisting of a number of ex players who get the club inside out.

Time to rebuild

Thing is though. It’s all very well having an interim boss but Freddie in charge from December till the end of the season. Seems a long time

Based on what? Vieira has not proved himself as a coach.

If he gets us through the next really hard games with good results he can stay interim for as long as they like.

Anyway if we find a Poch/Rogers candidate he can be moved sideways at any time.

Based on the fact that I’m not sure how attractive a proposition we are and it might be worth a fling of the dice. He’s proved himself more than Arteta for example and has now been around the running of big clubs for a while.

I’m not sure if we can get an Allegri or Pochettino. Do we really want Benitez ? I doubt Rogers would come. Nuno is a no no for me.

Oh yes indeed. That’s the difference between a decent and a commercially based decision.

Taking away all that money for what he has done!!! But they’re all at it with their noses in the trough.

Probably the first former underwear model ever to take the reins. Unless Herbert Chapman has a secret past yet to be revealed.

Harsh of Emery who seemed a nice guy but I can’t recall a manager more out of his depth.

He will now likely manage a mid table Spanish side or go back to starring in the Hotel Transylvania movies

I was there last night and I felt sorry for him. I know he didn't work out and he'll get paid off with sums of money that we can only dream of, but last night was grim. Empty stadium and empty team. Both players and fans had given up on him. He knew it, everyone knew it. They should have put him out of his misery weeks ago. He seems like a decent bloke. He just didn't fit at Arsenal. Onwards and hopefully upwards. Pochettino would be hilarious.

He started coaching in 2011 for Man City Academy and Reserves, then 2015 in sole charge at New York City and since 2018 at Nice. That's a decent apprenticeship.

Arsenal sack Unai Emery with Ljungberg taking over as caretaker :12hello-bye:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/li ... -countdown

"Karl Fredrik "Freddie" Ljungberg is a Swedish former footballer who played as a winger and is the current interim head coach at Arsenal."

Maybe if he's does a good job, they'd keep him ?

All the decent managers that have been suggested seem to already have jobs.

At least it will be fun watching Freddie in the dug out and giving him our full support

He was such a cracking player and when pires got injured in that title run in he was a colossus for us.

It could at least be fun again.

Wasn't at all surprised to wake up to him gone after reading arsecom's post match interview with him. For the official site to ask three times if he was done was a pretty big clue.

As I'm one of those who suggested the sacking with Freddie 'til the end of the season I'm happy right now but long term? Maybe Freddie could prove to be the man? To be honest I haven't a clue past the obvious names who keep coming up but I would like a manager who plays football.

On managers I must mention Gareth Ainsworth at Wycombe. Obviously not putting him forward for the Arsenal job but when younger English managers get mentioned he's never on the list. He's taken a bankrupt club who couldn't even fill the subs bench for a season to the top of League One. Really can't overstate the job he's done with no resources.
