I have zero to little faith we will get past Atletico. I am hoping for the best. But we will be done from the 1st leg and have too much to do on the second leg.

I think Oliver is the best ref in the prem, I also think he made exactly the right decision in giving the penalty and the red card to Buffon.

At 3-3 it would have been easy for the ref to bottle the penalty and let the game go to extra time so the teams could decide the winner rather than the ref have to make a decision which decided the match.

It was an ungainly challenge but the defender did nothing to make the Madrid player fall the way he did ..... so he dived .

He never looked like attempting a shot .

I don't blame Buffon for getting p***sed off , Oliver had just f***&^d up one of the greatest comebacks in footballing history .

Hopefully you were hooked up with that old duck they showed a couple of times in the crowd with the fabulous set .

Welbeck has started a scoring run. Hope he continues, and picks up his confidence. I was excited when he signed from MU. I thought he could develop into a new TH14, but injuries hit him bad. The goal he scored against Moscow was one which showed presence and confidence. Really hope he picks up from there. The true test will be against Athletico.

Tough *%^@, his job is to referee not to provide the narrative you prefer. You can argue whether his decision was correct but the last thing he should have been influenced by is the context in which he made it.

Glimmers in Arsenal of a team one might start to connect with again. Elneny is becoming a really decent and likeable player. Enjoying Welbeck's recent run. Ramsey is approaching his best again. A few things to enjoy at last. None of this is really about results it's about the spirit of the club and team. Hoy can Zzzz all he likes but it is exactly boredom that has created so much indifference to the club. A football club that bores its fans is like a comedian who doesn't make you laugh and it's a pretty futile form of sanctimony to wag your finger at an empty seat.

Like many, I still don't bother going to The Emirates any more. Off to Craven Cottage today - one of my favourite grounds - with little hope we can *%^@ up Fulham's charge.

I don't think it warranted a penalty ..... simple as that and in giving one Oliver f***% up the game . I don't care who won so no special narrative needed for my benefit .

Think if I was back in England I'd do the same select a little club to follow , go watch Arsenal reserves .

Apart from the boring style of our play , it's the uneven playing fields of the Premier League so much money available to some clubs while others struggle , massive wages for Joe Average players all fuels the disinterest .

Mrs Kiwi's father played for Brentford's reserves just after WW2

Hard to argue that much with the PFA player of the year nominations. I would say Sterling can feel a bit hard done by not to be on there.
Kane, De Bruyne, Silva, Sane, salah, De Gea.

My issue, the same as most years are the stupid parameters for YOUNG player of the year. Kane and Ederson at 24 are nominated.

Also, rashford nominated, is thatjust a lazy vote for someone who is in the headlines more than others. He’s only scored 6 prem goals and is mostly on the bench.

Chelsea are awful. 2-0 down to Southampton.

Apart from Costa it’s the same squad as last year when they were champions and they have spent a lot of money. Conte may not have got the exact players he wanted but there is still £150m worth of new signings there.

We could actually finish 5th

Going to be interesting what PSG do this summer. £300m spent on Neymar and Mbappe. There is no way that gets past FFP, or if it does we should just all give up this game.

I’d take a few of their players if they are forced in to a fire sale

Ramsey should be skipper under the new manager when he arrives. Miles more effective than Wilshere imo, who I think is done at Arsenal.

Welbeck is not the greatest but is a really honest, committed player who I really feel an engagement with. He's Miller's favourite player by a mile and he met him last week after the Soton game. Lovely, quiet guy. I like him and think he's been really effective of late.

Darren Ramsey will be gone before a new manager arrives but I feel you might be right. There's evidence to suggest he's a good player Wenger hasn't used correctly

Congratulations to Wolves on getting promoted. A club with a great history, glad to see them back in the top division.

I'm also glad Wolves are up and I hope Fulham join them. I know some here have an affinity with Brentford but I was disappointed they got a late equaliser at Craven Cottage to cost Fulham two points.

I also hope Huddersfield stay up. Moreover, if they do Wagner gets my vote as the manager of the season. In my view keeping a club like that up is more of an achievement than anything the likes of Guardiola, Klopp or Pochetinno have done. Dyche at Burnley is in second place for me.

Welbeck is my favourite current player too. He's not the world's best player but I think he's much better than some give him credit for.

He can't be gone, even before ever arriving at Arsenal? Perhaps his brother Aaron might a say about that too :icon_mrgreen:

Congrats to Wolves for promotion. When I first became a fan of the sport and league I thought "that's a cool name". I knew an old timer who remembered them as one of his favorite clubs in the late 50s. Their heyday I think. I will remember them beating Man Utd, I can't recall which season. '04, '05 or '06 but I think they had a couple Man Utd old boys on their squad at the time.

Missed most of the matches from traveling and looked at the table which I haven't in a while and notice that its possible for us to get overtaken by Burnley. I'd actually laugh if we did. It would probably also cement Wenger being asked to leave.

If Welbeck is happy to be a squaddie and give us 12-15 goals a season I don't think anybody can complaint too much about him. Similarly Elneny and Wilshere are ok as squad players. A new spine (GK, CB and CM) to augment the current bunch should make the team capable of putting up a decent challenge in the league. A new manager might be the most important ingredient though.

Don't think they would let go of Verratti to us though....

Lovely link up between Aubameyang and Lacazette for the goal.

Aubameyang looks ok out on the left wing. Hugs the touchline and brings things we usually miss from our wideplayers

It was a very good lob from Mustafi too

1-1
Didn’t learn from the balls they’ve been playing over the top to runners

Thought we’d been playing well, generally controlling the game, but with arsenal the opposition are always likely to score a goal at any moment

4 on 1 attack and willock completely misses his kick.

That really should have been a goal. So many options and ways we could have scored then.

So wasteful arsenal

Such a shame Lacazette found Willock with that pass through on goal, but this is why it’s difficult for young players to get starts, and I don’t mind if Willock ultimately breaks through. Not sure he will mind, but Iwobi is a good template for him.

Haha

So pathetic at the back.

Nothing in this game, no pressure but we can certainly give up a goal at any time to any team.

How many games is it now that we have been leading away from home to be pegged back to a few or defeat?

This is so likely to end 2-1. Most teams tend to give that little bit more when they have a victory to hold on to, with arsenal it means we switch off

I think I actually want us to finish below Burnley in the table. 7th place still gets Europa League because of City’s league cup win.

Finishing below Burnley will highlight even more what a pathetic job wenger has done this season.

Not a single shot for their gk to save this half.

Comedy defending combined with no creativity and no goal threat equals a mid table team

It';s *%^@*** Mustafi. Sorry, Bernard, but he's a total liability. Yes the odd good game but costs us over and over again. First the dopey header but then he just stands around waiting to throw his arms in the air as he always does. Just not good enough. I don't care if he now scores from a corner by the way, he's a defender and as such he is not fit for purpose.
