I get the feeling the scoreline has a bit of revenge in it from the home loss. We kept coming which hints at it. Normally we settle in and slow down after a goal or two in the first half.

I remember the Newcastle away game we drew 4-4 after being up 4-0 at half. Very few games made me so angry.

Does Rice have 3 assists?

This is stunning 4-0

We had many performances that warrant this sort of scoreline, without actually creating so many chance. Let's hope that this is a turning point.

We've been excellent to a man.

Trossard is a breath of fresh air up front in this sort of game. And I can see the logic of Havertz in that 8. Kiwior rather good.

The energy from the team is tremendous. They did not let West Ham play their game, if they had any at all.
We should be playing like that all the time. Get a healthy lead through working the socks off.
Likely a subdued second half, possibly with only 1 added goal, for a 5-0 win.

Just don't get lackadaisical

The pessimist in me (and it’s a huge part of my football character) reminds me we were 0-4 up at Newcastle too.

Let’s not get carried away, he says to himself.

Top Gun borrowing Decaf's computer here:

Not a a chance. Not his Arsenal. Expect 3 more in the second half stroll in the park. :angel8:

2. The other was Ødegaard's and for Saka's penalty the key pass was from Trossard.

Really is the chance to see some youngsters from the bench.
Give Walters his debut at RB to protect White. Get Nwaneri on in midfield.
Nelson on to protect Saka.

I don’t mind if this ends 4-0 (although obviously I want 8/9) but more important is saving legs because we’re down to the bare bones.

I agree with you. If it is still 4-0 on 70th min, make all the changes to rest key players.

Would be nice to see the youngsters play some minutes.

Maybe because I watch us so often and not enough of Liverpool or City, but pundits say just how scary good we are at times. I see it more and more now that others have pointed it out. Not saying I don't think we play well, we play very well, but when I see Liverpool and City they seem to win effortlessly or at least seem to have more shots on goal. The fact is we look the best in the league fairly often.

What a goal! Trossard and Ødegaard in each others way, either could have scored.

Good to see substitutions made.
Let the other players play their part.

Wasn't Arteta in the Everton team we beat 7-0 and Moyes was the manager?

I thought he looked very good and I know it was only a 15 minute cameo but prior to that we had Nelson in that position and the only thing he really does is recycle possession in the final third. Nwanieri was actually trying to make things happen. To me he looks comfortably the best deputy for saka we have.

To be honest it was the usual performance from our back ups. As soon as subs arrive our goal threat departs… Eddie running round giving away free kicks and nelson playing within himself.

Nwanieri looks a star though

That’s done a wonder for our goal difference.

I really do think Arsenal and City are still a level above Liverpool. We are the best team defensively and without the ball. The amount we restrict the oppositions chances is on a different level to everyone in the league bar City but they’re still behind us.

Watched until 2-0 and went to bed. Just watched extended highlights. Yep a stroll in the park. Well done across the club.

Wheels are coming off for Emery and Villa. I bear no ill will to Emery, but the way the media are talking - they were unable to just praise his work without making it a dig at Arsenal for sacking him. The guy is a good manager, we all know that, but he has a ceiling and suits an underdog team. So in order to hit back at the media I’m glad the wheels are falling off for Villa

Last year 2-0 up in consecutive games v Liverpool and West Ham and ended up drawing both. This year we’ve smashed them both.
We’re not perfect yet but we are a better team than last year for me. More mature, less reliant on emotion and brilliant at restricting opponents from hardly any chances

Yeah me too I get bit frustrated with his never ending " after you Claude " I'm plagued with the thought if Kai could sweetily connect with an absolute missile we'd see a changed player .
Everything reeks of gnawing doubts about his game ; scuffed shots , mistimed headers . reluctance to take a shot .

The important aspect though ; he is thereabouts for lots of chances .

Disappointed the much changed formation didn't score another to rub in the gulf in class ,

Apart from the goal scoring it does say a lot for our defensive qualities ..... did they actually ever threaten ....? I can't remember one " Ooooh this looks dangerous " moment
Like the clip of droves leaving the stadium before half time . :laughing7: I quite like West Ham as a club although I've endured a few less than cheery moments at their hands .
I was at Highbury one year when they beat us 2 -0 in an FA Cup tie think Alan Devonshire scored one , also my sole visit to Wembley 1980 when they beat us 1 - 0 .... Trevor Brooking's only ever headed goal [ I think ? ]

Dunno if they keep this statistic but I’d be intrigued to know how many passes we had today each possession .
I think I counted 16 passes before our fifth goal
I bet our passing sequences were something crazy today
Something like 15 shot 17,30,6 header at goal, 12 goal,14 dink over gk, 15 goal,9 goal, 10,16 goal ,12 goal 11, 8 goal etc…
