It’s a weird and unprecedented feeling for me. I now don’t care how many we concede. None of it seems to matter right now.

We’re quite lucky Leno is having a decent game.

You misunderstand. I don’t see us scoring at all today.

I could easily see us conceding 8 though.

So true

Now AMN comes on.

How is he a worse choice than Soares?

Please, help me understand.

There may still be someone out there whose subjective opinion is that we are going to make a comeback.

It's possible - we have had a full 9 % possession in this half. :sad5:

Think he’s done more than enough to say he’s had a decent game.

Suckered us there then didn’t they? Let us have a little attack and then go up the other end and score.

Doesn’t come for crosses in his 6 yard box.

Sorry Bernard you can’t defend that

Norwich and the teams just above us won't be very impressed if City let us get away with 4-0.

This Arsenal backline lineup has to be one of the worst I've ever seen. No wonder we're getting destroyed.

He does. He was stranded by the positioning of our central defenders. He could have let it through his legs and he’d have done enough to say he’s had a decent game.

Only 5,

I’d have took that if you told me we’d lose Xhaka midway through the first.

Good result really.

Right where we deserve to be. We need to score goals to move up the table. Even 1 goal would be nice.

Kolasinac barely played a match for us in 12 months. Chambers and Holding as a central pair who haven't played as a central pair. and then Soares who has also barely played a match in 2 years. Wtf was Arteta thinking with that patchwork potato sack.

Nice wake-up call, actually. McLintock, Storey, Armstrong, Kennedy and co. suffered the same against Stoke in 1970/71. I'm sure Kolasinac, Chambers, Cédric, Xhaka etc will respond in kind.

A back 3 of Kolasinac, Holding and Chambers is a championship backline, Cédric at right back doesn't improve it either. Then you have Xhaka playing in front of them. Absolutely dire.

No wonder we didn’t keep Saliba : there’s nothing to learn at this club. Seriously would he be worse than some of this defending. Next game Norwich in the relegation fight.

Yeah only 2 conceded after Captain brainless lost his *%^@ yet again. I await the "we'll learn from this" shite getting another rerun.

Now let's see what the future midfield looks like without that idiot in there.

Please for the love of god Arteta, pick a *%^@*** first 11 and play them for a few matches.

Sure, we’re bottom depending on what Norwich do this weekend. But of the three league games we’ve had, for me Brentford was the worst result. I was expecting us to lose to Chelsea and City, but we should beat Brentford. I said I think Arteta will get until Christmas. If we lose the next game, home to Norwich, I might well be wrong by close to four months.

The Xhaka situation is so strange. Throughout his Arsenal career he's appeared to be completely brainless but multiple managers keep picking him.

I just don't see what he brings to the team. He lacks pace, moves the ball slowly, isn't strong in the air, doesn't have great tackling technique, doesn't cut the passing lanes well and to top it off he can have a brain explosion at any moment.

There must be something there because he keeps getting picked but I can't see it.

Xhaka's right foot nowhere near the plaqyer, left foot got the ball first, maybe that's also what Arteta saw, and we've seen plenty of similar tackles before the season statrted where no such punishment was given.

Why did we buy Saliba if he is considered a worse centreback than Kolasinac, who we are actively trying to sell?

I also expected losses and didn't even bother watching this one. What has annoyed me so much is seeing that team sheet and yet another tinkering with the formation. It's like Arteta is deliberately throwing matches to put players in the shop window. Not helped by Xhaka but more goals were scored before he was sent off.

It's a send off. He's off the ground, studs up, with both feet. If he connected with Cancello he would have snapped his leg.

Goal attempts were 25-1. Shocking.

Yes. Not too bad considering the team was setup to fail.

Good explanation by Keown about technical defending techniques such as body shape, sadly missing in such as Chambers.

We might be better off with the 70/71 team, even at their current ages.

But he gave the ref the decision to make.

That’s why he’s brainless

Its very hard to try to figure out what thought processes went into that team selection. It almost felt like 'we're going to lose anyway' was part of it.

I agree, the team selection was bizarre. Why play Kolasinac even though he is on his way out but pick Cédric over Bellerin or AMN? AMN came on later so Arteta obviously isn't completely against playing him.

A midfield of Xhaka, Emile Smith Rowe and Ødegaard was never going to provide enough defensive protection. If there was ever a time to play Elnenny, this was it.

We were without White, Gabriel and Partey. I would hope those three would improve the side significantly but everything looks so disjointed at the moment. Which is not a great sign considering they just finished a preseason without any travel.

That back 3 jumped out at me. Why did it not jump out at Arteta? Was it injuries?
