A line by Tom Baker in Blackadder, albeit over whether ships need crews not a football team's defence.

Far Corner immediately came to my mind because I enjoyed it very much. I'll have to give the other book a read. Thanks for the recommendation.
I have a tonne of biographies I want to read. Arsenal and non Arsenal related. I will have a lot of free time after the holidays. I will catch up on my reading. Possibly next season, I plan to take a month going to different matches in England. Arsenal and non Arsenal. Brentford for sure as far as non Arsenal sides goes. I want to see a lot of the different grounds around the country.
Due to the 6 degrees of separation that Facebook as become I discovered I have distant relatives in England (London, Coventry, one or two other spots).

Brilliant protection of the Kronjuwelens there from Per. And now he's off.

As some northerner (I guess) once said - "we're as dull as dishwater".

Woeful owner
Terrible manager
Average players

We'll probably win 2-1 now.

Is there anything more pointless than an Arsenal corner? Saints have looked so comfortable they're not breaking sweat.

Debuchy must be a better player than Bellerin. He's bloody useless.

Bellerin is terrible today. His confidence and abilities has deteriorated quite rapidly

We need more players to play with the drive and daring of Alexis, Wilshere and Ramsey.

Sadly, the only new coach we are going to get is the one that ferries the players to and from the games.

Without a doubt, if Wenger ( :20hospitals: ) goes, we will get better. Both as a team and as a club.

A Mharez or Lemar would helpthen we could get rid of Sanchez, Welbeck and Bellerin.

Agree, Alexis tends to over do it too much nowadays.

Wenger will continue to go for the "broken" players at cheap prices. That is his measure of getting value. Welbeck is out injured more often than on the field. And has also deteriorated in his game. Hardly any impact from him nowadays.

Kolasinac seemed to hold himself back in the second half. He did not seem to want to support the attack as much as he normally does. Perhaps he was asked to fall back, to give Monreal cover. He was absent from his position for their first goal.

Xhaka does nothing useful for the team. He leaves the defence open, and hardly is back to play defense when our midfield is penetrated. And when he has the ball, he slows down the game. And like Ramsey of the past, more sideway and backward passes from him. Too laboured in his play. And not to mention the high percentage of misplaced passes.

So why is it always given when a defender lashes it out of play? I get it, it was never going to be given as those are never given. I’ve never heard the reason why and why the inconsistency elsewhere on the pitch. It probably comes down to one being a very forgettable decision and the other puts the refs neck on the block

There are two schools of thought as to whether with 20 mins to go and needing at least two goals you should take off your best striker. Arsene Wenger says you should, everyone else says you shouldn't.

We have again dropped points playing a team we should be bossing with a win. Why does it happen so often? We can hardly be considered good nowadays. We struggle to break teams down. We panic in defence. We have a manager with no variation to his tactics.

The biggest offenders today were Bellerin and Kolasinac who hardly ever took on their defender down the flanks. I can understand in Bellerin's case because he had a match to forget wherever he appeared on the pitch. Kolasinac was frustratingly unadventurous. He had countless opportunities to run his man but opted for the safety first square pass inside. Great goal by Giroud though and a draw was a fair outcome in wet conditions.

Apart from the pinpoint ball for Giroud Alexis was very ordinary today. Time and again he held on to the ball too long.

Completely agree OMOH, what exactly is Bellerin these days?. He's not a great defender and he's not a great attacker.
