Yep, a few nasty ones in there.

But compared to Man U spending £85m on Maguire, or £75m on Sancho, or £45m on van der beek etc etc
Or Chelsea spending £90m on Lukaku only to send him back on loan after 1 year.

We're far from the worst offenders in frivolous and bad spending.

It is no coincidence that the teams who recruit well and sensibly progress much quicker. For all their money City rarely have the sort of transfer flop that Man U and Chelsea regularly have. Newcastle have spent a lot recently but it has been spent well. Liverpool for 5 years were top dogs for recruitment and it won them the lot. We've massively turned a corner in this regard so I'm willing to put faith in the talent spotting of Edu and Arteta

But then Arteta must learn to manage that situation and rotate players to keep them happy but also to keep a winning team. It is where any manager earns their wages.

Agree so let’s drop Jesus for tonight’s game and play Nketiah as Jesus is going to the World Cup. Likewise Partey and play lokonga instead.

Good idea eh ?

Our drop off is so vast his rotation is going to look skewed towards him looking like he isn’t rational about it . There’s a reason city have won the league cup 4 times in a row

And they get their reward. Pity Fulham were so timid when they were a man up.

The contact rendered his other leg jelly at a molecular level so he naturally collapsed poor love.

City hammering on the door though. Matter of time you’d think.

Didn’t cancelo get a red and a match ban? Obviously not as he’s playing? But was it not an automatic 1 game suspension? Or was it used up in the league cup fixture?

Uh, sickener just before half time. 1-1. Hopefully petrosmeg get complacent again now. Brentford are doing that thing of rarely ever getting the ball so when they do loads of pressure to make it count and making errors on the counter. Like spurs against us :42laughter:

When they do get, it, they just hoof it upfield. Not likely to be a winning strategy.

Tough game later. Going there and getting 3 points considering the crazy circumstances of the World Cup will be tough.

Some reason I’ve got a feeling we might not see a win tonight.

No reason to even consider the WC.

Huge opportunity here.

Too right, and I think Arteta’s messaging has been spot on regarding this.

Not in the World Cup squad? That's how you react.

Should we pry Toney away from the Bees?
I think he will thrive in this Arsenal team.

The possible positive ramifications of City losing is that the squad will look at the table and feel they are competing with City instead of thinking the title going to City is a foregone conclusion and they are competing with the others for top 4. The hope is they start acting like a club competing to be at the top of the table.

What makes you think that they aren’t acting like a competing club?

And it reinforces that City are vulnerable if you set up to counter with conviction. I think I was a little harsh with my half-time comment. They did sit back a bit before half time and paid the price but over the 90 they were very brave.

I'm very curious to see how Newcastle do against Chelsea. I have a wary eye on them .

There is absolutely no chance there are 4 teams better than us in this league. Top 4 was the goal, we have to seal that, punish these sloppy teams and put as much distance between us and them as possible. Give it a couple more months like this after Xmas then we can think about a title challenge

If Leeds can hang on take a point here it would be superb. Could go into Christmas with a 10 point lead plus game in hand against spurs

How on earth are Spurs 3rd in this league. Their spawny luck with awful performances is beyond belief. They need someone to give them a humiliating defeat their performances deserve

Spurs should really be on a run of 5 defeats in a row. They have lost 3 in those 5 to Liverpool, Newcastle and Man U, but were 2-0 down to Bournemouth and 3 times behind v Leeds and losing with 7 minutes to go.

They are an awful team reliant on individual moments with no proper patterns of play or attacking system
