Not a single yellow card for us today. People may say the defending has been desperate but it can't have been that desperate without any cards! Still only 1 shot on target all game from City.

We've defended brilliantly

So important for us to see this out. The confidence and belief it will install. Players can look across the pitch and see more talented players but we need to be in a position where we're aren't fearful of it and know that we have a way we can beat them. If we can hold on it will be massive

I'd add Tierney to the list - the back 3 have been brilliant. But the overall team performance is the really impressive thing.
And two top, top finishes- we have to keep hold of Aubameyang.

and I'll also add Maintland-Niles and Ceballos to the list as well.

To a man we've been utterly utterly brilliant

Really want the clean sheet now

There has seemed a calmness, but I didn't know if i was imagining it because it was working, but they seem to be positioning rather than sprinting in defence when it goes wide, which is a little alarming, but I do think there's a calmness. Martinez not put a glove or foot wrong helps.

And I don't want to hear a peep from the media about how City dominated possession. Just give all the credit to Arsenal. Arteta came up with a masterclass today.

I don't think anyone gave us a prayer today. A lot of people need to eat their words when they say they can't see any improvement in Arsenal under Arteta.

Great team defense. Well drilled. I was thinking the win over Liverpool recently was the biggest win of the season but this one is and of course if we win the final, that will be.

Who do you want? Man Utd or Chelsea? I prefer Chelsea for a couple reasons one of which is I don't want to risk giving Man Utd any more chances of FA cup wins.

When I woke up last Monday morning, it felt like something was different in my view of the world. Like something had shifted in the time and space continuum.

And I was right; I’ve moved into an alternative universe.

COYG!

Why would Aubameyang want to leave? Why would we get rid of Luiz?

Wow, that an amazing performance and result.

I was always confident we'd beat them :laughing7: Seriously though, I didn't see that one coming at all.

Many players had their best game in an Arsenal shirt today.....Luiz, Xhaka, Tierney, AMN to name but a few.

Unbelievable result and a real team performance, the best team performance I've seen in years.

Correct Soc.

A team performance and as much as we’ve all criticized over the past couple of seasons, it’s right to pay due compliments to a performance George Graham would be proud of.

Definitely a Graham-esque performance. An out of this world striker who you just need to give a few chances to and he can win you the game whilst the rest of the team keep the ball out of the net the other end

We’ve beaten the league champions and now the runners up.

Monday morning playground rules; Arsenal are now the best team in the land. Official.

Really pleased for the player but what an achievement and vindication for Arteta. When he came in the entire club was on its haunches.
What Arteta has had to do is build every player's confidence up from rock bottom, whilst re-drilling his team in his way to play, and ensuring the team believe in his methods when he has absolutely nothing on the CV to back it up, he's also got to make every player better on the training pitch - on which he's had very little time and make them perform as a team that is greater than the sum of its parts......All the while ensuring he wins games because defeats can undo everything he's trying to set up.

I feel we have a young manager who is driven, fresh, innovative, disciplined, focused and clear. Of course he will make mistakes, but the message is clear and the direction is clear.

The turnaround in some of the players under Arteta is astonishing.

What a performance tonight!

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport: “We’ve had an incredible week to beat the best two teams in Europe, it doesn’t happen every day.

“I don’t care who plays, I can trust them - we made changes ad everyone was ready.

“We had to suffer in many moments. We had to be really well organised and minimise the spaces."

Damn. I completely forgot there was game on. It was showing here too :sad4: . I was somewhat preoccupied -- our borehole collapsed and the country is falling to pieces. But that is hardly an excuse.

Some seriously promising signs of late.

The real downer on this is that the players can't enjoy this with the fans. Away win at Wolves, and then beating Liverpool and now City - the atmosphere in those last 2 wins would have been electric. Hopefully the players can sense at least from social media how much the fans are enjoying the effort and performances.

Arsenal has needed to get that connection back between fans and players for a while, that's why its a shame they both couldn't properly share the last 2 games

Shout out to AMN. His final balls were a little wayward at times but his pace, energy and commitment to the defensive cause were exceptional.

David Luiz was sensational tonight, seemed to get his head to everything (although City are a small side), made great interceptions, blocks and passes and was the cornerstone of an exceptional defensive performance. Credit where credit is due.

Interesting interview with Luiz. Talks about us being mature and humble. Also says he’s pleased for the rest of the players, you do get a sense of his leadership that Arteta has mentioned.consider if the decision on his extra year happened after today’s game rather than the 3-0 v city.

Luiz was also asked about the recent criticism of him. His answers show the tough mentality he has.

BT sport had van persie as a pundit and after the game he said he’s not a believer in arsenal having to spend millions to compete. Well you’ve changed your tune Robin because wasn’t that the exact reason the little boy inside’ you said you had to leave Arsenal!

Good point. It has been very good recently. Perhaps a notable tweak to the way Arsenal use him. The central striker dropping deeper and facilitating the more explosive play from the wider men

What a win.
Did not see that coming and thought it would be the same old story against city.
After a nervy start we grew into the game and were absolutely outstanding in terms of defending comittment, game management and spirit.
Each to a man we were excellent and city were made to look ordinary.
To beat liverpool and city one after the other shows progress is being made.
Arteta seems to know what he Is doing and is improving the players and seems to be administering game plans according to the opponent. The board need to back him.
So so proud of the boys today.
Immense!

None of us know the whole story. I think we’d be a better team with a committed Guendouzi.

It’ll be sad to have no fans at an FA Cup final, apart from a small band of people attached to each club, hired helpers at the stadium, and television crew and reporters and journalists. Suppose it’s happened with each semi, but it still seems odd.

I imagine Stan will feel obliged to come over for it, as I assume owners will get in. Not because he wants to, but because he may feel he has to.

I like Ceballas as a player but I think if he's not consistently starting he will quickly grow disillusioned and be a spanish version of Özil. The amount is a decent amount for the quality of player but attitude and willingness to play your role, is just as important.
