What is this *%^@ from the commentator!? Basically “I’m glad the referee is going to referee this differently because Everton have come to be overly physical. Refreshing to see.”

*%^@*** nonsense.

Is shirt pulling no longer a foul in association football? The passing has been really poor. Sluggish all round.

Is there any point in Martinelli being on the pitch?

Agreed. We need to be patient and keep playing our football.

A little less of the high risk stuff in our own half would be appreciated.

Even if he doesn’t get the ball he’s high and wide stretching the pitch.

They are the better side. We better come out 2nd half with a much improved plan of attack.

Oof. Bit nothingy. Conceding chances, wide players no space. No shots on goal I don’t think. Need some ideas. Game for Trossard in tight spaces as there’s no room to run in behind.

Pretty ordinary first half performance, hopefully we can make our quality count after the break.

Not great.

Everton have doubled up on Saka and Martinelli and taken them out of the game. Teams are increasingly doing this an we need to be quicker with our passing when space does open up.

That should mean there is space in the middle for others but we havn't been able to exploit it.

Calvert-Lewin is a big problem.

Everton chasing everything, doubling up and generally tearing around like crazy men. Doubt they can keep it up - well, I hope that can’t.

Could easily be 2 up.

Maybe bring on Jorginho and Trossard for Xhaka and Martinelli at some point.

If we can't step up our game we are in danger of losing this one.

Everton are playing well, especially after they switched the wingers back. Pressing, good wingers and a CF with plenty of physical presence.

Apart from the brief cameo against Man City Martinelli has not been good for weeks now.

Gabby Jesus would have been perfect today, dropping deep, turning and then running at them.

Clubs seem to have got his main move sussed out. Time for Trossard?

Sure feels that way. But Saka did have one cleared off the line.

Obvious corner there. Everton have walked the line between physicality and going over really well tbf. We in the other hand need some fire here without rousing this crowd.

We have had several sloppy passes today. All out of character. Perhaps it’s the Everton pressure causing it?

Martinelli needs to try to go on the outside and get to the by-line a bit more.

If anything space was tight first half suiting Trossard more, now their press has slackened off and space is opening up leaving space for Martinelli. Roles reversal really would have worked better.

Eddie to get an equaliser. I’d take 1-1 at this point. Showing my cowardice.

I knew it. All those tall bodies in the box was going to pay off at some point.

Test of the squad. Don’t think we’re going to have it. Ødegaard has had most of our best chances and hasn’t really done it in front of goal.

Just hasn’t been our day on goal. Cleared off the line. Some blocked, skied the rest and we’re never going to get a pen here because of the refreshingly different refereeing. Oh well. Still 5 clear. Come on tiny Totts tomorrow I guess.

8 clear sounds better.

Right now I’d settle for 6. But just can’t see it happening.

Goodison Park is always a tough outing for us.

That Iwobi seems a pretty good player too - Why can't we get more players like him ?

Exactly the same narrative twice in two seasons away at these twats. Sudden resurgence and dropped points. We’ve had some good fortune in terms of fixtures and availability internally and teams we’ve played against. This one went against us today and really we didn’t rise to this challenge very well at all.
