who is going to win the Wimbledon ? ....Womens I'd like the Kazak sheila to beat the Tunisian but I'm not fussed if Djouba wins '

Mens ... I'd prefer Djokovic ; previously I didn't like the guy but listening to a few interviews he is...... calm lucid succinct sharp ... reminds me of myself .

One question about best players he went back to Sampras Rafter Edberg ...... of course Old Man and I ; the Cool Hand Lukes of the Tennis World would have rumbled back to Tilden, Savitt , Hoad and Olmedo

Before I read your post I had no idea who was in either final. Djokovic is obviously in the men’s one against someone. No idea who the Kasak Sheila and Tunisian are. But one of them must be called Djouba.

I care who wins even less. I haven’t seen a single second of any Wimbledon game this year, from the start of it to now.

The biggest interest I had in it was when John McEnroe used to play. Didn’t mind Jimmy Connors either, and before that Rod Laver.

Btw your mate Putin seems to be ignoring your predictions and maiming, killing and raping across the Ukraine as well as flattening entire cities. Obviously I’m assuming this is the west miss reporting obviously as you said he has a special bond with the ukranians !

Maiming killing raping ...... :laughing7: :laughing7: wonderful so you dismiss Sky News yet believe all the crap they put out .
One of these fine sunny days you might stumble on an alternative News Source .

Laughing faces? Are you for real? I work with a number of Ukrainians and also Russians with family in Ukraine. Trust me, the maiming, killing and raping is all very real. You are an utterly clueless Neanderthal. Honestly, you should be banned for the laughing emojis alone.

It’s not a logical or accurate article.

Where’s saliba ? Charlie Patino has been wearing 35 in pre season training. With bellerin about to leave you would assume saliba gets 2 and Ramsdale could get 1

A rumored no 2 for Saliba. He's not back yet. And Hector wants to leave this summer, so still with no 2 shirt so far. Whether he will still get a stay at Real Betis is yet to be seen. Atletico seems interested apparently. Don't know why Patino was left out. Ramsdale should have no 1 shirt.

The No.12, No.24, No.28, No.29 and No.31 are among the other shirts currently available.

Slightly disappointed to see Sterling join Chelsea. Always a player that I admired and for some reason I always felt he might end up with us.

That said that’s a big transfer and we need midfielders

I'd have to say I was in pretty much the same boat didn't have a clue on players apart from Djokovic and Nadal .

However the other day after checking a few important issues Ukraine , how a single Mother of three from Bolton is coping with her food heating bills
what's happening in Sri Lanka , what flavour ice cream Joe Biden is eating ......I logged on to Sky Sports .

Decided to watch all the quarter finals mens and womens in an abbreviated format . Found I quite enjoyed it .

Quite enjoyed the little Tunisian Djouba's style of play but the Kazakh girl Rybkina [ ?] had a much lower ranking so was keen on the underdog .

The Aussie guy Kygrios facing Djokovic has a bit of a bad boy reputation but I'm not sure whether that is deserved or media induced .

Seen some links to Kante to us, 1 year left on his deal. I’d say no to that. He’s become quite injury prone, is 31 and is on enormous wages. We could do with a few more proven winners but Kante isn’t a vocal leader/organiser he quietly goes about his job very well when at his peak but I think he’s past that now

Thanks for taking the time to explain that.

Other than the bit about self inflicted damage it is indeed hugely different to any view that I have seen expressed elsewhere.

Interesting debate but I gotta go with the earlier era. Although I do think Van Dijk would have been very good in that era as well at the same age and development he is dominant now. He would have been good but no where seen as good. I think Henry would score way more today than previously.

"Van Dijk is very lucky to play in an era where there is no Drogba, Lampard, Shearer, Henry, Rooney, van Persie, Tevez, Adebayor and Diego Costa in the Premier League. No wonder they think he is the best defender in the league."
Michael Ballack clearly doesn't rate the standard of today's Premier League, or Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Jamie Vardy, Son Heung-Min, Raheem Sterling... - Michael Ballack

I wouldn't be against it as a stop gap for a year or two, AND he came fairly cheap. We would have to buy in the interim and the person be the long term replacement.

Let's unpack this.
1. The Russian speakers in Ukraine do NOT identify as Russian. They are Ukrainian who speak Russian. You are from New Zealand but you speak English. Are you therefore ok with someone saying you identify as English.
2. What happened in 2014 that Ukraine is now attacking a section of their own country? Deep breath now.
3. They didn't ban the Russian language. The President is a Russian speaker.
4. Negotiations? Based on? Ukrainians giving up chunks of their own country? Moscow having a veto over their foreign policy?
No country will enter into such negotiations. Anyway Macron leaked his conversation with Putin who said he'd rather play ice hockey than negotiate.

Remember random Telegram accounts are not always true.

I read unvaccinated players were finding it difficult to move abroad to Europe where players are required to be vaccinated. Kante is unvaccinated.

After thinking of him as the Premier League’s best midfielder for around half a dozen years (his year at Leicester and first five at Chelsea), I do understand your opinion. At 31 he isn’t that old. I try to avoid calling players a past it has been before they’re 34, but I probably have at 33.

But the loss of fitness required to play football at your peak starts in your early thirties. That’s a clinical inevitability, and physical decline sets in once it starts. It isn’t something that begins at the same age for everyone, like your 30th, 31st or 32nd birthday. There is a window and I’ve heard clinicians suggest it can be as wide as around two years. With some it may start at 30; with others 31, and others 32. But is does happen.

Considering Kante’s obvious decline last season, perhaps it began with him at 30? Not impossible after all. The Chelsea fans I know tell me he is no longer able to show the work rate he once did, and it was his energy that was one of his biggest strengths. They feel he simply no longer covers the ground he once did.

Hence if we did buy him, we would not be getting the Kante that Leicester and Chelsea (before last season) had. We would be getting a Kante in decline, and could even be getting a clapped out Kante. For all we know the same thing happened with Aubameyang? Was it solely attitude with him? After all, after a bright start at Barcelona I’ve read his form dipped.

People may say Kante would still show more energy than Xhaka. Maybe, but with Xhaka it’s more a lack of pace than energy as he does keep working throughout the game. Also, Kante is on £290k a week at Chelsea. That’s a lot for Arsenal to pay someone who could well be miles past his best. I think it’s more likely PSG will take him at the end of his contract next summer for £300k to £350k a week, made more tolerable by avoiding the huge transfer fee Chelsea will insist on to get him now.

Greetings Kiwi. I was addressing TG's specific point.

There is no such thing as a 'different view' when something is a matter of record.

How is there a different view over for example, what Trump, Biden or Boris actually said, when what they said is on film?

I've had this conversation with you before. Didn't we agree that it would be safer to stick to football and the efficacy of nettles and comfrey in the treatment of digestive and dental complains?

The world No 40 has been accused of domestic abuse. It was revealed on Tuesday that Kyrgios is due to face a court in Australia after being summonsed to face a charge of assaulting a former girlfriend

Lots of reports that we’ve made a €7m euro bid for Grimaldo from Benfica. The dominoes from that will probably be that we end our interest in Martinez, Tavares goes on loan and more money gets pushed in to midfield signings

If the West is so concerned about the welfare of Ukranians why don't they broker a peace deal instead of continuing to ship weapons ..????

A lot of the damage highlighted on the Newsreels is being done by departing Ukranian troops .

OMG - this must surely be the sickest wind up ever? If not, and you really believe this, I genuinely feel sorry for you.

There are literally billions of people suffering from this form of delusion. It is sadly very commonplace and is testimony to the feebleness of the public's political intelligence and the enduring power of propaganda!

A cracking final, albeit one where I wanted both players to lose.

A very high standard of play though.

That's an homage as he didn't win the major trophy.

1 Aaaah but they do identify as Russians firstly thousands are getting Russian passports and second WHY is the majority of the fighting against Ukraine so far being dome by militias of the Luhansk and Donesk ....? 1 - 0
2 Deep breath taken ..2014 the democratically elected president was overthrown ; CIA inspired .Donezsk Luhansk broke away ; Ukraine understandably p**sed off started the shelling them ... with me so far . 2 -0
3 Just checked They did ban the language ... but challenged in court it was overturned a year later . So a point to you well done . 2-1

4 Negotiations ... okay ever heard of the Minsk agreements look it up .... Ukraine along with France , Germany Russia agreed to recognise the Luhansk Donesk and Crimea ... they never followed through . 3-1

What Macron says ... ha ha a true political lightweight [ where is de Gaulle when you need him ] non credible to the extreme The Telegraph ... usefulness ; a fish and chips wrapper maybe

4 -1 Decisive victory to NZ ; better luck next time ...you have a nice day

Listen Terry and Top Gun .. peace brothers . :

It is not my intention to come across as some know all or waffle sh***t as some sort of wind up .

What you have to realise most of the news about Ukraine from the BBC CNN MSNBC Der Speigel , La Monde , Four Corners is total bullsh**t . \

There are a lot of books and very sharp commentators who don't agree with what Boris , Joe . Emmanuel , Olaf , Ursala , Liz and Annelina are shovelling in to the general public .

Here's a little example ... British newspaper trumpets ""Russia holds world to ransom over food exports "" wont let grain etc leave Odessa .

Dig a little deeper you find Odessa is unusable because the UKRANIANS have heavily mined the entrance plus sunk several ships near the wharves .. because they feared a Russian sea borne invasion .

That's all I am putting forward alternative viewpoints .
