Leeds doing some interesting business. Lost Phillips and will almost certainly lose Raphina, but

de ketelaere
Tyler Adams
Luís Sinisterra

already signed Roca and the two lads from Salzburg and Gyabi the youngster from City.

The top 3 names are on the football hipster list of interesting players. And the signings in general at least on the face of it look part of a well thought out strategy rather than the 'obvious' signings

Another point about that tall, more physical central striker, is that Jesus versatility means we don't block that from happening by signing him. Next summer we could very well go for a player like that, because of how comfortable Jesus is playing on the wing. That versatility just gives us so many options in terms of building our attack.

Saw that one. Not sure about the source, but that is a seriously talented player. 12 goals and 13 assists as a central midfielder this past season.

That’s an amazing contribution

Where does he play ? Holding midfield or is he an Ødegaard. Just wondering where we would fit him in.

I think he's one of those CM/AM hybrids, but the few times I've seen him he has looked as a no 8. Seems to have played mostly CM at Lazio. He's 6ft3 so definitely has some size to him as well.

Eriksen close to a 3 year deal at Man U on a free transfer. Obviously he's a good player, not entirely sure it is an area of the pitch Man U need to prioritise, and in reality if Man U were humble enough to accept they require a total re-build (as we finally did 18 months ago) they probably wouldn't be signing 30 year olds.

On the Ronaldo situation I think Man U are in a bind either way. If they let him go that is a big ego-blow that he wants out due to lack of ambition and it loses them their only reliable goalscorer. If they do keep him he will probably still score goals but I completely agree with those that say he unbalances the side too much especially without the ball.

Albeit with the correct words. :laughing7:

I forgot to add an emoji at the end of my post but I'd surprised (and a bit disappointed actually) if it wasn't sung.

Welcome Gabriel Jesus.
At least he had the right shirt in the photo posted 27 June on here. Possibly photo taken after his medical cleared.

Seen lots of online speculation. Rumours it is a 29 year old man.

Not sure if it is making more headlines but these allegations seem to be happening a lot more regularly

Saw that Rich, loads of rumours that it's Xhaka. Still rumours though, nothing confirmed. Let's hope it's Kane

Man arrested at 'address in Barnet'. Worrying. If it's one of our players their contract should be terminated if there is any truth in the allegations.

That's for a court to determine.

People saying Xhaka but then some people are saying he's in Turkey at the moment.

That's why I said 'if there is any truth in the allegations'. But whoever the player is, if it actually gets as far as a trial it's not exactly a good look.

If it’s one of our players it will become pretty evident rapidly. We have friendly in Germany this week and Orlando later this month

Marquinhos has been given the No.27 shirt. Feels like the club will have a good look at him in pre season and decide how best to use him for the season, loan or perhaps keeping him for the first half of the year for europa and cups. When Martinelli joined as an 18 year old he played more than people thought in that first season

Interesting read. A few issues that stood out to me, not that I am doubting them. The arrest was at 3am : was that really necessary. The alleged rape happened at a resort and she left and flew home. From where: in the Uk? Otherwise where is the jurisdiction. She appears to have been holidaying with him?

I will look with interest for follow up.

In my youth I once got summonsed for an unpaid traffic fine. They banged on the door at 3 in the morning. When I asked why the horrid hour they said it is because it's when people are most likely to be home!

It’s quite peculiar this. It appears it can only be one of our players that mirrors the description.

The allegation is from someone who was staying with the accused so highly likely the players partner. The player being suggested is married. Until Arsenal release some confirmation that the player is with the squad in Germany the rumours will grow and grow fuelled by social media

If the police are trying to avoid the potential publication of arresting someone famous 3am is a good bet. Especially if it’s a delicate and difficult allegation.Everyone has camera phones these days and people tend not to be around at that time. I imagine you can get someone in and out of a police station at that time without too much issue.

I’ve checked the ages of the Spurs squad. There are a couple of people who could also fit the profile. 3am - wouldn’t happen here unless they were a security threat. Mind you the police wouldn’t cough up overtime for such a raid in most Aust jurisdictions.

According to Chris Wheatley, Partey is with the squad to go to Germany apparently.

So now it’s being reported that the alleged player being accused did travel yesterday and is with the squad. This would make it unlikely to be him if it was reported he was in custody. If I was him I’d seriously lawyer up, defamation suits everywhere

Yeah, I think it's best not to speculate at all with the little amount of info we have, and the way people have been running away with this is pretty damn distasteful. Forget about innocent until proven guilty, we now have players being labeled as a rapist when we don't even know if they've been accused of anything.

This also calls into question the way the media handles these matters. There is no reason to publicise information such as the exact age of the player, or the fact that he's "internationally renowned". All it does is throw a bunch of people who fit the description but are innocent into a story about a terrible crime they had nothing to do with, and fuel speculation on social media. Extremely irresponsible journalism in my book.

Looking back on it I have to agree with this. I know I looked up which Arsenal and Tottenham players are 29 and will play in the World Cup, as well as giving a link to a source saying Davies lives in Barnet and naming him in the headline. But I hope I didn’t go overboard in my previous two posts on the issue.

Generally Arsenal players do often tend to live in the Barnet area. Wenger himself was at Totteridge lane

Spurs players more so round Enfield way historically

If I was a footballer I’d want as far away from London as possible personally but there you go

I think fan base wise, while there are loads of Tottenham fans in Barnet and loads of Arsenal fans in Enfield, traditionally Barnet is more of an Arsenal borough and Enfield is more of a Tottenham borough. But I’m less sure that applies so much to where players live.

Basically the two clubs grounds and training pitches are so close to each other, and Barnet and Enfield as London boroughs border each other, I think it’s a bit simplistic to generalise like that.

Even by using the term ‘historically’. My dad showed me where Don Howe lived and it was Winchmore Hill, in the Borough of Enfield. Decades ago I used to go to a pub in Winchmore Hill called the Chase Side Tavern. Liam Brady was often there, sometimes with some Arsenal team mates.

Oh my.

PREM STAR 'RAPIST' Premier League international re-arrested on suspicion of two more rapes against different woman

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19099385 ... g-woman-2/

A PREMIER League international footballer arrested on suspicion of rape has been re-arrested for two more attacks against different women.

The player, who is in his late 20s and is due to play at the World Cup in Qatar in November, was detained yesterday after six police cars swooped on a North London address.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/20 ... e-attacks/

I have a feeling that it's not an Arsenal player. Could be wrong of course but just a feeling.

Spot-on Haz,

Its one of the worst aspects of twitter and social media in general. Rumours, speculation and outright lies are spread around the world in seconds and there is no accountability. People reputations are being tarnished, often irrepairably, based on nothing more than heresay, misinformation and quite often spite, jealousy, racism and, when it comes to football players, tribalism.

Its basically trial by social media. Whatever did happen to innocent until proven guilty, presumably it doesn't apply on twitter or twatter as it perhaps should be called.

Uh oh. The reporter who said the player was in Germany has now retracted that and said he’s just found out he’s in back in London. This is going to be painful and will run and run.
