Since the goal Liverpool have controlled the game and kept us at arms length.
Liverpool are well drilled, they know when to foul, they know how to win a foul, they’re very good in 1v1 physical duels, and their front 3 probably win at least 50% of long balls played up to them.

Which is disappointing. They aren't exactly 3 Shearers.

The false 9 formation is bloody frustrating. We don't need all of our outfield players in our own third of the pitch when we are defending. It makes it very difficult to launch an effective counter-attack.

We're at least keeping them from creating chances, but need more control in midfield. One goal is all it takes to at least send this to penalties if we don't concede, the players need to realize this tie is very much alive.

I notice at times we win the ball and get into dangerous positions such as the wings for a cross or whatever and we don't commit enough players to the box or near enough to trouble Liverpool. I see players stop and not continue support of a drive forward at times. We end up with the player with the ball not having options. Too often.

If jota was on that chance it’s a goal. That’s what you are dealing with at this level.

Bergkamp would have nestled that ball down gently that Martinelli couldn't control. Oh, I miss him.

Martinelli off please (sorry) to allow Tierney to attack more. Partey on to allow Emile Smith Rowe to take more forward positions.

Smithers is lethargic and shouldn’t have started. To me martinelli is probably our only player likely to score

Emile Smith Rowe for partey for me

Tomiyasu looks a bit lethargic.

Quite a few of our players don’t look fully fit or match sharp

Tomiyasu isn’t on it either. Don’t see this ending well.

Liverpool look dangerous from set pieces, they are a much bigger team than us.

Offer Vlahovic whatever he wants. Offer his mum a gold plated dildo ffs if that’s what it takes.

You can’t have your striker on the halfway line when you are on the edge of their box. Zero goal threat

I'd get the wide players to swap wings for 5 minutes.

Some of these Liverpool players are wasting more time than Xhaka did in the Leeds game.

The point I’m making is not that he got the yellow but I see players get away with those tackles that are attempts at blocking the ball and the foot comes down on the opponents foot. It wasn’t like the Xhaka one on the Leeds player.

In fairness, TG, that is obviously tactical. I'm sure Lacazette would much rather play as a striker than a false 9.

Liverpool know all the tricks and the line to tread. So often when they foul they kick the ball away just enough to not get booked but enough to slow down the game

It’s not one thing or the other. He’s dropping deep to help out in midfield because we are overwhelmed and we ask him to do that more and more because he’s lost his cutting edge.

Fabinho should be getting a yellow easily there. He flew in and was lucky he didn’t make contact then made a foul straight after. The guy is immune to a booking

He’s going to be replaced by Nketiah

Another one, a clear deliberate kick at an Arsenal player on the break and because we retain the ball the ref plays on and doesn’t punish what is a yellow card offence

I think this is the best I’ve seen Ødegaard play in that deeper role. Doesn’t seem to be feeling the effects of covid
