The NLD is the 20th game to be postponed, the first Arsenal have requested - not sure I heard too much analysis of squads and criticism at any of the other 19…..let’s see how this news goes down.

Appalling decision

back in the day john Radford would have played a game in the morning, one in Africa in the afternoon whilst having bird flu and would have got fingered by jimmy saville as well. Games gone mad.

Feels like a lot of the outrage from Tottenham is because they know they'd struggle to win against a full strength Arsenal side. Anyway, if the PL board decides it's within the rules, there's not much to say about Arsenal applying to get the game postponed.

Sky deliberately took a stance on this last night and today because tomorrow's game is their prime event of the weekend. It is one thing that really bugs me about Neville. He has cultivated this image as this articulate, passionate commentator who is forthright in speaking his mind. In reality, he is a loud spokesman for Sky.

Nothing would sum up the premier league more than Arsenal fielding an unprepared squad of 13 for a north London derby, getting smashed and sky pundits pointing out “tactical flaws” and not even mentioning the obvious.

Be hilarious if the young Serb was signed in time for the rearranged fixture.

Happy it’s been postponed, a lot of energy expended at anfield.

You can just see it, can't you. 'What is Miguel Azeez doing there? Him and Charlie Patino completely lost the midfield in the second half, shocking stuff from Arsenal, they won't get top 4 playing like this.'

Neville is a huge critic of teams hoarding young english players and them not getting proper game time, so we send Balogun and AMN on loan to get that game time and then it is used against us in his criticism of getting a game postponed.

I'll say it again, 19 previous games have been postponed and not a single critical word was uttered or written by the mainstrem press and media.

Yes we're taking advantage of the rules, just as every other team has done, if anyone is looking to place blame look at the Premier League who should have made the rules clear from the start of the season. I have absolutely no doubt if everyone had been made to play every game no matter what we'd be in a stronger position in the league than we currently are.

100%

Souness with a massive sour puss moaning

I found it ridiculous when he was slagging off the 18 year old kid for Leeds who made a cock up versus us on his debut when he was chucked in at the deep end.

Never mind an elephant there was a blue whale in the room

That result away at Everton is looking worse with each week that passes. I guess that they raised their game for us.

Might just be that I haven't noticed it before because it doesn't get posted on Arsenal forums when it concerns other teams, but there's a huge wave of criticism against this desicion coming from supposed credible pundits and journalists. Has it always been like this?

All these postponements suit one team in particular, Man City. They have a big squad with the smallest difference in quality between starting and 2nd 11. They’ve also been quite fortunate that none of their opponents on any particular week haven’t had to postpone, meaning they can play out their fixtures like a normal season. Add in that with the disruption of players isolating teams who have settled squads and long term managers will be better off. They will walk the league this season and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them finally win the champions league

Well let’s put it this way. I can’t recall reading of a single complaint against any of the other teams up till now.

It’s always been this way. I’ll never forget Mike Langleys ridiculous daily mirror hatch jobs when we had the audacity to Sign Dennis Bergkamp. Sour old *%^@

The one that sticks in my mind is after the old Trafford van horse face incident when the footballing world decided Arsenal were terrorists

Not that bothered by the meeja reaction to Arsenal for the postponed match. Its up to the Premier League to decide whether or not we fulfilled their criteria. Any gripes should be taken up with them.

If you're talking about the 70s - and Talbot playing 70 games in 1979/80 during our endless-replays era - I hear what you're saying. But, as for the era of Kelsey and Clapton, there was no League Cup and no European football (for Arsenal, anyway). With barely 45 games a season (for Clapton, at least - did his one England cap really coincide with a match against Juventus the same evening?), the likes of those two were probably pleased to occasionally play a couple of games a day to relieve the endless football-less boredom of the rest of the year.
Yes 60s/70s/80s there were plenty of games in a season, though you are right about the Jack/Danny era, there were less. And yes, it is true about those two playing two games in a day - 2-2 draw in the Home International in Birmingham and then travelling back to London for a famous 3-1 win over Juve in the evening. Although it was a 'friendly' the match was taken seriously by both sides - Jack played with a groin injury and Danny played half the match. Over 50,000 attended - the win was big news at the time.

Had TalkShite radio on in the background as I pottered about yesterday evening, whose programming was basically an endless stream of idiots moaning about Arsenal and talking, well, shite. I put some music on instead, which I should have done in the first place.

Maybe he’ll start concentrating on his own performances instead of mentioning Arsenal every time he speaks. Decent gk but perhaps the 30 or so games he played between the end of that season with us and his start with Villa was the outlier in his performances. Don’t recall him being that great this year and that is an absolute howler today

The only games I watch in full are those involving Arsenal, Bayern in big games and Rangers when they play Celtic. So I haven’t seen the error by Martinez today and won’t until MOTD tonight. But Leno was and is a better keeper than him.

Pleased to hear Watford got a late equaliser away at Newcastle. Would love to see Newcastle get relegated this season.

Man Utd were heading for a thoroughly undeserved 2-0 victory, but Coutinho has just come on to get an assist for Villa's first goal and then score the second himself. 2-2 now.

Uproarious reaction from Villa park at the equaliser. Glorious, I’m finding Rangnick difficult to dislike though, I like my Utd managers more like Panto Villains please. He just looks a bit forlorn on the sidelines :sad5:

I thought this was interesting regarding the postponement taken from The Guardian:

"...the Premier League has arguably set a precedent that was impossible to unravel. When Leicester’s match at Everton, scheduled for 11 January, was called off the league cited “Covid-19 cases, injuries and players on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations” as the contributing factors."

So pleased by the comeback as I was fearing another undeserved win for Man U. We’re playing far better than Man U and Spurs so seeing them pick up wins when playing poorly is grating when we pick up the same 3 points playing well. The optimism I held was that you can’t keep playing badly and winning, or getting last minute winners. So pleasing that Villa came back to give Man U the maximum they deserved. De Gea kept them in it a lot

Spurs official website gave their response to the game being called off, it was a bit childish and one-eyed and read like something that was trying to be balanced, professional and non-comity all but couldn’t hide that they were fuming that Arsenal weren’t made to play. Save all that for fans forums etc. See Arsenals official response to the Liverpool postponement for how a classy club reacts

We are extremely surprised that this application has been approved.

We ourselves were disqualified from the European Conference League after a significant number of COVID cases meant we needed to reschedule a fixture and our application to move our Leicester fixture was not approved - only for it to be subsequently postponed when Leicester applied...

Tottenham weren't 'disqualified' from the Conference League. They had to forfeit one game because of covid, which meant they didn't qualify for the next stage since they'd already lost to Vitesse and Mura (best team in Slovenia to be fair) and drew against Rennes.

Actually, looking at the Slovenian league, Mura are currently the fifth best team.
