Always amazes me how much hidden talent there is out there around Europe.
I'd never heard of this guy until today.
I wouldn't mind a left field signing similar to Tomiyasu.
Absolute bargain.
Would rather someone like this guy or Jonathan David at lille then 60 million on Calvert Lewin.

Been watching a documentary about ABBA. They showed pictures of Frida Lyngstad, the darker haired female singer in the group, wearing an Arsenal shirt.

Mate, don't worry. There are people on TV, who are so called football experts, who only know about 30 cliches when telling us what to think. Just be yourself.

Late to the party here. Happy Christmas all.
Oh and all the best to Judith, Rog and those involved in keeping the Gleiber forum exquisitely going.

On a side note, Spurs-Palace game called off for tomorrow. Stevie G now has Covid.

Far be it for me to discourage anyone from posting. I recognize your screen name and you have been on here a fairly long time.
You already know the various personalities and such on here.
I can only assume you learn from others experiences. :toothy9:

You will or won't when you feel it. People will advise you based on their forum standing, etc.

As the kids say in America 'do you'.

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Provided our game goes ahead Spurs will have 4 games in hand. I hope the FA don't do them any special favours to catch up. If they end up playing every second day so be it. I also think UEFA should ban them for 2 years from European competitions for failing to fulfil their fixtures. But then unfortunately I am not on UEFA.

I can’t see any info about today’s Tottenham game being off. It still looks to be a goer.

Thank you Soc and I will try to be more forthcoming in the future but I will have to think of something original to say first which is another thing I’m not very good at.

However I will say I feel pretty positive about our progress at the moment and Arteta is currently in my good books so I think we will shock the entire footballing world and knock the scousers out of the cup, either that or we will lose to Norwich which is probably much more likely.

I must admit that feeling of positivity comes and goes quite quickly.

Given the billions of words and opinions expressed about football in general and Arsenal in particular it would be quite remarkable to say

something original although Bernard does tend to be off-field. :toothy9:

We’re all more than happy to have you on board. Think of it as Arsenal mates having a chat down the pub.

Thanks for your encouragement LTG

Must admit I didn’t know what ‘off-field’ meant. My initial assumption was that it refers to views that are something out of the ordinary, although I’m not really sure why mine are.

But I looked ‘off-field’ up and it apparently refers to sportsmen (and no doubt sportswomen) whose behaviour off the field makes their success in sport unlikely. The example given was George Best, although equally relevant will be the likes of Paul Merson, Paul Gascoigne, Tony Adams and countless others. So now I’m even more puzzled how the term ‘off-field’ applies to me.

BBC Sport (a website I see as highly reliable) say the only Premier League games called off at the moment are Liverpool v Leeds and Wolves v Watford. Nothing about Tottenham v Palace being off yet. That may obviously change, but at things stand you seem to be right LTG.

It was a tongue in cheek way of saying unusual. An example being that there are no other forumites who support Germany. It brings some variety and entertainment so thank you for that.

As explained, that’s what I initially presumed it meant. But apparently it means sportsmen and women with issues in their lives, such as addictions, who still achieve in their sport.

I had no idea. That’ll teach me not to make up a phrase.

Oh the Spurs-:Palace game was to be off due to Covid cases in the Palace camp. Many media outlets reported it. Just within the last hour or so both clubs now say match to go ahead.
All the best to PV4.

Now it's just been reported the Dec 28 match between Leeds and Aston Villa has been postponed. Makes sense Stevie G has Covid.

If there were any doubts as to why the Spurs-Palace was to be called off, can read it here.

Basically all our right backs have covid so we are playing Ben white there. Surprised he’s done that and played holding rather than Tavares in that position

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, White, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Ødegaard, Martinelli, Lacazette.

Subs: Leno, Smith Rowe, Pépé, Tavares, Mari, Sambi Lokonga, Elneny, Nketiah, Patino.

Someone mentioned White going to wing back to replace Tomiyasu. It seems that is what's happening AMN not even on the bench.

Not good. Vieira has Covid. Osian Roberts will take Vieira's place.

I think none of them fill Arteta with confidence.

This means chambers, Cédric, Tommy and AMN will miss wolves and city now because they will be isolating

That’s quite a big blow. You would also have to assume there is a chance other players could catch it as well leaving us short.

I think Ben White has experience at right back, and I expect him to do a good job there. Looks a strong side, bit nervous about Norwich getting a new manager bounce, and our very patchy away record, but a great opportunity for another 3 points nevertheless.

It does seem massively unfair that we play Sunday and then Tuesday whilst Wolves will go into the Tuesday game having had 10 days rest. It feels like we will have to rotate considerably for that game and we all know our levels drop when we do that. Plus the risk of injury is ever present with only 2 days between the games.

Wolves will probably suffer similar disadvantage later in the season when fixure congestion causes them to have to play several games in a short space of time but other teams will benefit from that, not us.

Not sure what the answer is.

Actually, I would say this is an ideal time to get 6 points on the board*. Given that there are going to be fixture pileups, rather have them now when we can rotate and against moderate opposition, than having a backlog when we are depleted.

Good to see we are at absolutely full strength today. 'a bird in the hand' is a sound philosophy, indeed.

*touch wood.

[edit: I didn't notice that Tomiyasu was out]
