Was thinking the same! It's a fine line between wanting them to get smashed and wanting Ole to remain in charge because they're going nowhere under him. Such a poor team, only saved by having a couple of absolute elite players.

And now it's 3. If I was a Glazer I'd be on the phone to Antonio Conte by now.

At this rate we might go past them on goal difference. :icon_mrgreen1:

Yes that's a worry. Conte is reportedly hovering the wings.

Nah. There's no fine line here for me. This is far too enjoyable. Another four from Liverpool in the second half would be super.

Money may be one reason, but knowing how obsessed the man is with football I can imagine him wanting to see as many "quality" games before he pegs it! The man simply loves the game - he is addicted.

You are right. If Wenger had been a money or glory hunter, he would have cashed in at Real or Barca. Top Gun is full of it again. In any case, Wenger is quite right that the international calendar needs reforming.

If Arsene has sold out or not is a matter open to debate but my opinion is no way would he have backed this ridiculous 2 year World Cup idea 8 years ago.

What isn’t up for debate though is that you are a muggy little snide.

He works for FIFA.. they have one agenda themselves.

There’s no absence of football he can indulge in we don’t need a World Cup every 2 years and it’s been rightly vetoed for the time being.

He visibly doesn’t believe the words he’s saying.

That thrashing had been coming for Man U. This has been in the making for a number of games. The comebacks and the romance of Ronaldo have let far too many people who should know better gloss over what a disorganised mess Man U are. A Gk who stays rooted to his line, a back 4 whose leader is so slow and clumsy and the rest barely look like they know each other, a midfield that is not even top half quality and a forward line that can bail them out with moments of brilliance but can’t or won’t do any dirty work off the ball. I feel like Arsenal have been there before but we didn’t spend what Man U have to achieve it.
Man U deserve what they’re getting because they’ve been too arrogant thinking ‘The Man U way’ and other romantic history is enough. No vision, no future planning and their displays on the pitch look like they’ve been unwilling to do the hard things on the training pitch.

I hope Ole stays longer though.

I was bewildered this summer by how many people ranked the Man Utd squad next to or even above Liverpool. If you only look at the best 3-4 players perhaps, but it's horribly unbalanced and top heavy. Great options going forward, extremely weak midfield, weak central defense apart from Varane. Wan-Bissaka is a non-factor offensively. If they were just starting a re-build that would've been a fine position to be in, but with the amount of money they've spent they should be the finished product basically. And Ole is just a nothing coach.

The real problem for Man U started when they fell for the Man City scam again. Man City show an interest in an ageing player who all the fans want, Man U can't be upstaged by City so they pay over the top, giving no thought as to whether the player fits into the team or even unbalances the team. Then they are forced to try and make it work: step forward Alexis Sanchez and Ronaldo. The real question is can Man City do the trick again. I hope so.

Surprised to see we are at touching distance of top 4, point-wise. Our 2 away games in Nov against Leicester & Pool will be good tests for us.

Klopp trying his best to save OGS's job after reading Rich's post:

Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp added: "What can I say? Did I expect that? No.

"The result is insane. It is special but we don't celebrate like crazy, we have respect for the opponents.

"We were lucky in some moments, United are not in their best moment."

Not much mention of the fact that Ronaldo should have been sent off in yesterday's game for a petulant kick out at Curtis when he lay on the floor. For every last minute winner Ronaldo brings I think his signing is doing more damage than good, there are the obvious wages but also you're playing with 10 men when you don't have the ball and he is definitely not a team player ready to encourage others after a mistake. Long may it continue for him.

He’s nearer to his 37th birthday than his 36th. However great he was when younger he’s now basically a past it has been.

Putting aside the Leeds cup game for the moment, the 4-4-2 worked very well against Villa's 3-5-2 formation, we have Leicester next so there must be the temptation to stick with it again. There are similarities in the two opponents. Both Villa nd Leicester have 3 CB who are good primary defenders but don't excel at bringing the ball out from the back or line breaking passes fizzed in to feet. Against Villa Lacazette cut off the supply line to Luiz the guy who takes the ball from the less able CB and ticks things over, without him Villa were forced to go long to strikers who couldn't beat Gabriel physically and we made sure Partey and Lokonga mopped up second balls. Can we get Lacazette to do a similar job on Tielemans and force longer balls to smaller strikers?

No, it isn't snide to say you are full of it. Its simply stating the obvious in a straightforward way. Snide means something else. Look it up. While I am being direct, you are also a disrespectful lout.

There’s a thing in football punditry or commentary when a non-world
Class player does something absolutely brilliant the pundit says “if player X (world class player) did that we’d all be raving and fawning over it”
I heard Ian Wright say it about Henderson’s pass to Salah for Liverpool’s 5th. I’d say that these things do get the praise they deserve in the moment, it doesn’t matter what player did it - but if people think it hasn’t been given enough praise it’s probably because the world class players are doing it every single week. Any player can hit the top corner from 30 yards on the odd occasion.

Snide

All you do is make haughty snarky comments. We call that a snide in our neck of the woods. Give it a rest rather than trying to pass a consistent comment on everything I do. SNIDE.

I can't remember where I read it but I read somewhere one of the players say that Bergkamp (and others) do stuff in training that were mesmermizing and far greater than what they did in games. Chips from crazy angles, etc.

I fully believe it because its training, there is no game time pressure, you can experiment in a non pressured way. Its that way in other sports with great players. I used to hear of Michael Jordan doing stuff in training that were simply outrageous even for him. Larry Bird, who some of you may have heard of, would fire off consecutive 3 point shots, so many it would be a record in a game.

One of our great defenders, said they'd just go to the other side of the pitch. Big Tone I think, not sure, but said he would just kick them so as not to get mugged.

Didn't we see a video of Bergkamp at Ajax (was it Ajax) lob a keeper from way out? I can only imagine what the invincibles training sessions were like Henry, Pires, Bergkamp. The game must have been easier to defend for Sol, Keown and the others after what they had to face in training.

I think it will be a strong team tonight, I doubt any young players will be involved. We still have a big senior squad and some players need minutes to keep fresh for when they might be needed. That said I wouldn’t be adverse to 1 or 2 young players on the bench, almost as a reward for their progress….but they may not even come on. It would be a good experience

Slightly embarrassed to say I didn't know who he was but have spent a little bit looking him up. I fancied myself a Rangers fan of sorts, not hard core and should have known he was.
