The problem the police have in taking cases are that the defence are allowed to use Facebook postings by the accused showing them to possibly be sexually active and promiscuous to the extent that the jury are overly influenced and find defendants not guilty.

The whole thing's a mess.

What a startling graphic. And what an absolute mess football ownership/governance has become in the premier league.
It seems like Arsenal's only realistic option to 'compete' in the future is going to be developing our own players...before we sell them on.

I am quite pleased for Newcastle fans but lets be honest it's a disaster for us.

It's also another nail in the coffin for the english game.

Discussing the football aspects of the Newcastle takeover seems such a ridiculous side thought right now.

Imagine if Kroenke was tracking down and murdering journalists. That’s what your dealing with here with this takeover.

There’s questionable business practices for people like Abramovich and usmanov and then there’s beheading human rights activists.

The sport is becoming more and more absurd and a risk of becoming so grotesque you will question your own morality for just watching it

Morning socrates. Newcastle presumably might have the spending power to blow Manchester City’s away, let alone the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. It’s not just us it’s a disaster for if Newcastle’s owners use their wealth to totally dominate English football.

You say it’s another nail in the coffin for the English game. If its appeal has anything to do with competitiveness, then it could become its burial in the deepest grave of any cemetery. Or even its cremation.

EDIT: And nor am I pleased for Newcastle fans. Stuff them.

Wonder where Willock will feature in the expected new Newcastle line-up next year? Perhaps happy to be a squad player and win trophies while warming the bench.

TG, may I suggest watching a re-run of "Little House on the Prairie" or "Lassie"? Those were morally right shows. :icon_mrgreen1:

The 2 different headlines on the bbc football website totally sum up the absurdity of the sport now ...

Alan Shearer says the Saudi Arabian-backed £305m takeover of Newcastle is a "special day" for the club's long-suffering supporters.

Newcastle United: Saudi-backed takeover is 'heartbreaking,' says fiancee of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Sounds like a real difficulty. Mind you juries, particularly women jurors, can be very judgemental

The Premier League approved the takeover after receiving "legally binding assurances" that the Saudi state would not control the club.

Oh, that’s ok then.

That is despite the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, being listed as the chair of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which will provide 80% of funds for the deal.

Oh.

A future Arsenal women’s team footballer came in to the world today, my beautiful daughter Isabelle was born this morning. Everyone healthy and happy.
She’s already told me to not bother with balloons and teddys, all she wants as a present is 3 points v Palace!

I love the idea that Newcastle fans are delighted that they ‘have got their club back’.

Oh no they haven’t.

Gosh. Quite amazing footage from the Andorra stadium where England are supposed to be playing tomorrow. Lucky that nobody has been injured.

Maybe the title was not completely accurate, I don't know but the fouling in the replay was insane. Where the eff was the ref?

Charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. The furore was because someone at the police as good as invited the press, was it the BBC?, to film the police forcibly entering Cliff's home and arresting him. Completely unnecessary and very embarrassing to anyone, let alone to Cliff Richard.
Thank you - you have answered Bernard's question for me - I believe the BBC had helicopters flying above Cliff Richard's home as the police arrived to question him. The subsequent BBC pay out to him suggests that it was not a case of brilliant investigative journalism, but more about an improper police/media link over the raid. Sad to say the BBC I grew up with is a poor shadow of its former self.

Hindsight is 20/20 and there was no way to know the future but had we stayed with Martinez, we would have saved ourselves time and money, no? Well, maybe not money since we presumably got a fee as well.

Funny how things work out. Can't see Leno staying.

Fury vs Wilder III. I have always been a boxing fan. Philly is known in America or at least in boxing circles as a 'boxing town' with some of the best boxers in history. In modern times, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Frazier, Meldrick Taylor, and many others. Sylvester Stallone wrote Rocky being from Philly for that very reason. All of us boxed as teens. Most of us, including myself giving up the sport fairly quickly haha...it was just what you did. But you learned a lot about yourself.

Anyway, Fury is a fairly heavy favorite and deserves to be so. The way I see it Fury should win. Comfortably, if I'm honest. Wilder has 2 things going for him. The undefinable hunger for redeeming himself. Frazier beat Ali the first time on hate. Yes, Ali was off for 3 years but Frazier was going to die in the ring before letting Ali win because of how Ali talked about him, calling him a gorilla in the wake of the '60s. Wilder may have some of that drive in him that may help him overcome deficiencies to redeem himself at all costs. He has a great punch. He only needs to connect squarely once as in the first fight. How Fury got up, I have no idea.

Anyway, in the comment section I notice that most Americans are cheering for Fury. It's puzzling. In a country that is very nationalistic to the point its a detriment, I find it odd. If both fighters were fighting in the Olympic final they would all be cheering for Wilder. Same thing when Mayweather fought McGregor, most American fans were cheering for McGregor. Again, a head scratcher.

I cheer for anyone I have a connection to. If they are from Philadelphia, American, an Arsenal fan, whatever, I cheer for them.

On the Football London website, I see that Arteta is concerned about Tomiyasu facing a 24-hour flight back from Australia after Japan plays a World Cup qualifier here on Tuesday. I suspect that Mikel is aware - and perhaps someone should tell Football London - that the game is being played in Japan. That's some incisive journalism there.
