Ramsdale, tomiyasu , Gabriel and Ødegaard have been fantastic. White, Saka Aubameyang and Pépé have been poor.

There's the making of a good team in there. They've toughed it out today, in any of the last 4 years Arsenal would have lost today.

A new striker would be my choice for one big signing in the summer. Aubameyang looks like he doesn't have much left in the tank.

Agree.

Don’t change a winning team.

White won 4 out of 5 aerial duels. Tomiyasu won 4 out of 4.

Got to credit any clean sheet away from home. Pundits would have been rubbing their hands at the prospect of Barnes and Wood battering Ben White and even if it was uncomfortable for him at times he's the one that comes away with a clean sheet and 3 points.

An excellent 3 points. Allowed ourselves to get pushed back too much in the second half, but showed good resilience. A lot of credit to the team today.

People moaning on here about Ramsdale might end up with egg on their faces

Early days but looks a snip at 24

I Agree. Surprisingly resilient which is not something you associate with modern day Arsenal. I thought it was noticeable how much better we were playing out from the back. Overall the defence can be proud of their work today, the attack was a bit meh. Still, how nice to win a battling game of football.

A few things

I thought Gabriel was superb,

White did very well and the stats show likewise. Don’t continue a pre determined narrative

Ramsdale looks a very good prospect

Pépé and Aubameyang didn’t really click today

Spurs next week, we win that and the momentum behind the project will explode

Despite our worst start to a season in two thousand years, somehow we're only four points behind title favourites Manchester City after five games. Funny old world.

I cannot wait for Sean Dyche’s post match interview - just plug that stuff straight in to my veins!

3 clean sheets so far. I must admit the signing seemed strange to me, I hadn’t seen much at Bournemouth or Sheff Utd to convince me he could be our long term GK. seems to have had an instant connection with the Arsenal matchday fans

Gary Lineker already tweeted at the time that even though he won the ball he ‘followed through’ and so there was a debate whether this was a clear and obvious error.
People quite rightly pointing out to him that following through only becomes an issue if the tackle is dangerous ie you can’t two foot someone and use the excuse that you got the ball before the man.

There are plenty of tackles where the ball is won and there is contact between the players that leaves the attacker with on a heap on the floor. It is clearly not a foul.

Of course it will get painted as a big team getting a decision when in reality it was Arsenal being shafted by an awful decision that was thankfully just put correct so the situation became neutral again.

Read a fair bit that it was Arteta who really pushed for both Ramsdale and Tomiyasu ahead of other potential players in those positions. Looking good so far.

Will be nice to see a bit of rotation for the midweek cup game.

If Leno starts midweek game, it would be a huge psychological blow to him.

An inconsequential thing that has always annoyed me in football is the ‘stealing’ territory at throw ins. They throw starts 3 metres ahead of where it went out. Then the player stop starts and takes 2, 3, 4,5,6, 7, 8 steps and hey presto you’ve gained 10-15 metres. This isn’t really a massive issue but it never fails to wind me up. Where it clearly does matter if is someone is going to launch a throw into the box like a corner. Exactly what happened today. Ball goes out 5-10 metres from the half way line, then suddenly dipshit McClogger is chucking it into the box nearly level with the 18yard line. I was fairly screaming at my screen. Raging. :8angers:

No way would Ramsdale have let in the 2nd at Brentford

Great result. A win at Turf Moor is always a cause for celebration.

Some top performances today. Ramsdale obviously, Gabriel, Partey, Ødegaard, Tomiyasu to name but a few.

Would like to have seen White on the ball more and playing out expansively because thats really what he is in the team for.

Our front three just does not seem to gel in any meaningful way.

Pépé's decision-making and execution of those decisions continues to frustrate, he is capable of such brilliance and yet such shiteness, often in the same passage of play.

Aubameyang offers nothing bar the threat of a goal if he gets the right kind of chances, which he rarely does. Our main weapon of the swinging cross into the box from Tierney is no use to him it seems.

Saka was out of sorts and needs a rest.

So everton miss their two main strikers and best players, their established international gk and their captain and right back. Villa smashing them. Important players missing really does mean something for teams without huge depth

Dyche “I have to say the gk does get a touch so in theory that doesn’t get given….though you might question if that was a clear and obvious error”

The guy moans like a drain. You’d only question that it wasn’t a clear and obvious error to award the penalty if you were a complete idiot with no comprehension of the rules of football

Winning games buys time, we’re not fluent yet but so much of this team feels new and they still need to gel.
We finished the game today with all 6 new signings on the pitch and 4 of the back 5 as new players. I can’t think of any big team recently who have done that.

So much to like from two new signings in particular as well.

Ramsdale. Seems very vocal and the thing I love so much in a gk coming and claiming crosses confidently

Tomiyasu. Has only lost 1 duel he’s contested so far. So strong in the air, quick and combative and good with both feet. Already looks a good price at £17m. Only 22, looks older

These sorts of battling wins where the team has to really dig in can hugely help the togetherness of a new set of players.
We need to forge that team spirit and develop those leaders within the squad who take command and set standards in adversity

100 % this

If Partey gets injured your 50 million pound midfield player gets replaced by a 10 million pound Egyptian midfielder and a 12 million pound Switzerland clogger and the fans start moaning that the manager isn’t getting the best out of the players.

The actual truth is we usually look ok when we can pick our best 11

Give it a couple of games.

I am glad we have a GK who comes out to claim the crosses. Puts less demands and pressure on the defenders.

Watched Tomiyasu during Japan's Olympics campaign and was very impressed with him. Was ecstatic when he was signed.

Pépé was very disappointing with his decision making. He seems to be playing for himself, often trying to dribble his way to glory.

Some good performances in there and with a few less understrength passes and a few more played in front of the man instead of behind and there were more goals there. I would like to see a few more first time shots too. A few times there was that little first touch when it was a great time to just try to sweep it home. Especially on the counter.

Not helped by the amount of passes behind him so that he had to check his run. But agreed he lost it a lot today.

Like this photo. Burnley player trying to rush Tierney up, or remonstrate with him from going down with cramp, assuming he was just time wasting and Ramsdale straight in there to stop him and Gabriel looking ready for a fight as well.

Little things but this is the attitude we need.

Palace denied a 100% penalty claim and MOD don't even mention it.

Another VAR fail down to incompetent refs.

Liverpool played without Alexander-Arnold AND Robertson in a Prem game for the first time since December 2018.
