Decent move. Aubameyang shot nearly fumbled in to the net by the GK

That's more like it. Move it fast.

Not been convincing at all, we need to keep forcing shots, not you Partey.

If some of our players start badly they seem to struggle to get out of the funk and up their level to anything vaguely acceptable. Too many players missing passes and too many players not even involved in the game.

Very nervy when they get anywhere near our goal. This is a hard watch so far.

My wife is getting really fed up of my painful groaning noises as we take forever to move the ball forward from Leno. Frustrating in the extreme.

They need a spark, a good tackle, something, someone showing some confidence so it can infect some others.

I hear you. He is very slow to distribute. Too slow.

It’s not just him. It’s the slow decreasing triangles just around him, and back to him, that then put us under pressure.

He’s contributed little if anything for a player of his reputation

Every time we have a fast break on, we pass the ball backwards. Very little attempt at beating the man either.

Emile Smith Rowe epitomise the type of energy and bravery we need.

It must be a plan to drive down his value and transfer fee. It’s been like that for a while now.

Hugely disappointing first half. So frustrated with that non-performance.

The problem I have on many occasions is who on the pitch is leading us, driving us on? We have a manager who is shouting and directing from the touchline and will no doubt have a lot to say at half time but who is pushing that on the pitch? Other than Tierney I can't think of anyone who naturally does this in the team.

Pedestrian stuff.

If anyone from Utd are watching, they’ll be hoping we scrape a 1-0. They’d be more worried about Villarreal on this showing.

I get that we need to be patient and cautious because once goal for Villareal and we are out (cant see us scoring three) but it feels ultra handbreak.

Pépé over elaborate. Play the simple game. Very frustrating for teammates awaiting his pass.

Arteta has 45 mins to save his job. What will he do with this team? How will he inject more urgency in them?

A steaming pile of manure with a dollop of extremely stinky dog shite on top.

Where is the energy and urgency?. How many backwards passes ffs!.

This is a european semi-final not a testimonial.

The awfulness of watching it is exacerbated by having to listen to Carney’s inane insights. Not improving my mood at all.

Good opportunity to replace Pépé with Martinelli?

Need to get Ødegaard off and get some help for Partey

The formation of effectively vacating the middle of the pitch and just leaving Partey in there is a bit strange - It worked against Sheff Utd but not sure it has worked since but we've stuck to it. Feels like a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Elneny needed in the middle of the pitch, Martinelli needed up top. I'd take Ødegaard and Pépé off.

At what point are we actually going to go for it? This isn't just a semi final this feels like do or die for the next 2-3 years for us in terms of progression.

One key weakness in Ødegaard is that he drops away from the opponent when he loses the ball.

He is Ceballos version II

An hour in and in a game we must score we've only had 1 shot on target. Villarreal probably can't believe how little pressure they've been under.

Ødegaard off for Martinelli.
Seems to be Saka moving more central and martinelli left and Pépé right

Too many of our players are afraid to play a quick pass. Everything has to be too precise, too careful, too secure.

Time to just go for it lads. Come on, you’re not really this poor.

Holding, good at getting his head on the ball (unless the giant Sterling is there to score) but never have I seen him get an attacking header on target.

We have absolutely zero threat from set pieces. Not even from the second ball as it drops from the clearance.

He just got tantalisingly close there. Just past the post.
