Arsenal and Manchester City fined after both sets of players surrounded referee in Premier League match.

Arsenal fined £85,000 (£20,000 a suspended fine from Oxford United FA Cup tie) for events in 56th minute.
Man City fined £75,000 for events in 42nd and 64th minutes.

Should we just set up a direct debit at this point?
If £20k of ours was carried over from another match the FA deemed our single offence worthy of a £65k fine and City's two separate offences worthy of a £75k fine. That's crazy, so £65k for doing it once and then just £10k for doing it again. City had all 11 men around the ref for our penalty.

It seems the fines fall under either
a) failing to control your players - surrounding the ref
b) failing to control your players - a pushing match between players

This must be the 4th or 5th time we've been charged - are we really believing that most other clubs aren't doing this? Arsenal fans have shown coutless examples of other teams doing it and getting no punishment.

Who investigates the investigators?

Who watches the Watchmen?

Since we went on a multi game slide, deservedly or not due to bad calls and the like, I'm no longer as confident going into what should otherwise be a relatively easy game.

No 'easy games' from now till the end. Playing first we can win and put pressure on City hopefully. The weekend will be nice if Newcastle wins the league cup. Albeit a big ask of the Toon, but cup finals have often gone differently than what the bookies say.

Fulham’s Palinha has 10 yellow cards meaning he’ll miss the match v us. He’s a very good player so that’s good news for us

Potential banana skin today. For some reason not feeling too optimistic. Leicester are in dire need of points

Doesn't matter who the opposition is, all the league games are important obviously but there is a sense of doubt that permeates the air now because we have dropped points surprisingly recently.

Who Mikel starts will be the first thing we look at. Does Martinelli start or does Trossard? Are there any other changes such as left back? Smith Rowe is healthy, isn't he? He won't start I assume but we may see him on the bench.

I tend to focus and worry on specific things and right now its Man Utd. Yes, City is who we have to worry about for the moment but Man Utd are playing extremely well and in touching distance. They could end the season being runner up and winning 3 trophies. Well within their ability given their present form. Likely? No. But many, if not most said the same in '99.

My main worry is also next season. They will buy in the summer, unload dead weight. I hate the feeling that Man Utd are back. As for us, the title won't come easier than this season probably. I hope we play like it.

In sports its very hard to beat any time 3 or more times in a season. It happens, we have done it but its especially hard to be a good team 3 or more times. We found that out with Middlesborough and Chelsea back in the glory years.

That said, I'm hoping this law of averages so to speak applies to us and City in the return fixture.

Martinelli starts up front instead of Nketiah.
Rest of the team is the same as the Villa game.

Partey back on the bench, Zinchenko captains the side as a mark of respect and love for the anniversary of the war in Ukraine

Maddison not fit for Leicester

Apparently Nketiah has played every minute since the World Cup so was due a break. I wonder if it’s Martinelli up front or Trossard as a false 9

Not a bad XI. Should do the trick. Kiwior makes the bench.

I like the front 3, all are comfortable shooting or passing. Nketiah is a out and out striker (which you want), he's looking to score only...not that he won't do an assist but he'll take a difficult shot sometimes over a pass...at times.

...as long as we don't over pass and try to walk the ball in. Hoping Jorginho has a great game. I want to see him feeling he made the right move.

Classy move supporting Ukraine with Zinchenko as captain and the armband in Ukrainian colors.

So foul on the gk….but yet look back at the goal villa scored from the corner where their man was fouling Ransdale far more than that.

That is not a clear and obvious error. Shouldn’t be a var review.

The keeper's free hand was more than enough and he made a mess of it. Oh well.

Utterly biased. Foul on Saka in the r box far more than anything white did on their gk. No penalty from var.

I’m seething yet again with the one sided nature of officials decisions.

Consistency has to happen in games. Give both or give neither

Remember var saw nothing wrong with this, no foul on the gk despite both arms wrapped around him and stopping him moving

I’m so tired of feeling we have to beat 12 men every week. The law of averages would say we get the odd one in our favour, we get nothing. The list of pathetic var calls against us this season is getting ridiculous

Rubbish. Clear foul.

If anything the Leicester defender has more contact on his gk than White.

If that is the standard for a defending free kick then no one would ever score a goal from a corner.

Once again you can dive in to the rule book and justify a reason for it to be disallowed but it is again us being judged to the absolute letter of the law when everyone else is seemingly given tolerance and leeway

Like I said if you decide white’s is a foul then that’s the bar you’re setting for fouls in the box, then Saka’s has to be a penalty

No way is that decision getting made at the other end. No way

Just as much contact on saka in the box

Martinelli booked. Let’s see Pawson keep up that benchmark for yellow cards for Leicester players. Goodness me

Mark Chapman on 5live summing it up really well.

We were told the threshold was high and we were not going to re-referee games, but that was a clear case of trying to find a reason to disallow a goal rather than adhering to the directive of clear and obvious error.

Then if you decide that is your standard then why on earth is Saka not given a penalty.

They mockingly laugh at the inconsistency but if it was genuinely inconsistent then we’d get some bad decisions in our favour

Not a single goal in all 4 matches at half time. What are the odds for that?
