If teams replicate last season's results for the rest of the season, this is how the table would look in May:

80 Arsenal (-4)
79 Man City (-10)
76 Liverpool (+9)
73 Spurs (+13)
66 Aston Villa (+5)
66 Newcastle (-5)
63 Man Utd (-12)

(in brackets, difference vs. 2022-23)

There's not a hope in hell that 80 points wins the league.

100% agree, but just shows that the top teams dropped a fair few points against last season against the opposition they still have left to play

They may have but it doesn't matter. We've seen what City do. They go on a run after Christmas and rack up the points. Nearly every team that wins the league does that. We probably need to hope that City falter but I certainly won't expect it to happen.

Did we just go through the window without any signings or departures?

Teams need to start being highly physical with Spurs gk at corners, he’s flapped at a few and they are conceding from them.

Surprised no team has properly done it to him before, it’s almost standard fare for a new gk to the prem to rough them up at set pieces to see how they cope

Tomiyasu's Japan played like Arsenal and lost to Iran in QF.
Leading 1-0 and comfortable all through the first half, they relaxed in the 2nd.
Iran started to run all over them, and they panicked.
Iran scored a late penalty after a central defensive mix-up in the final minutes led to a panicked tackle. And Tomiyasu was one of the 2 in the mix-up :20hospitals:
On the positive side, we will have him available for games sooner.

Bad for Tomiyasu but great for us. Teams who get to the semi are away the whole time if there is a 3rd place play off so we’ve probably got him back 10 days early

XG from the spurs match
Everton (2.89) 2-2 (0.85) Tottenham

They are getting lucky. So many games they are wide open and no one is really calling it out because the media is so transfixed by Ange and the reckless attacking.

I think it shows the standing and expectation of everyone on spurs because if a true top team played as spurs do they and their manager would certainly not be praised for being exciting and fun they would be slaughtered for being so naive and lacking defensive discipline

Let’s see MOTD and the media do an assassination on Vicario for his weakness at corners. The media were ready with the knives for Raya before he’d even kicked a ball for us

I know xG is not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s a much better sign of dominance and chance creation in the game than % possession and shots on goal.
So Compared to the worst xG conceded Arsenal have had this season ie: the most chances a team have created against us….Spurs have 14 games with a higher xG conceded than our worst.

I put spurs similar to Man U last season, picking up a lot of undeserved points and it will catch up with you. There are 3 teams who are miles ahead of the rest of the league in terms of dominance in games and this is what is sustainable

All made possible by Tony Blair and all propagated by woke Labour lefties.

Don't believe me google Keir Starmer 'refuses to define what a woman is' and or 'can a woman have testicles'.

Chris, I’ve no idea what the score is with Rowling, but if it’s anything to do with Harry Pothead, I’m not interested.

That said, Toby Young is still a talentless wannabe journalist/social influencer.

You can always tell when clubs aren't doing well. Just look at attendance.

I am assuming (and maybe wrongly) that West Ham was a bigger club in London definitely in the '60s but also in the '70s.

South Africa's keeper saves 4 PKs! The other keeper wasn't bad either. (pardon the music, a bit annoying)

Yes, it was ridiculous. All of William's saves were at a comfortable height, it must be said.

The save he made in extra-time was actually more difficult.

I was in a Marks and Spencer and an older gentleman laughed at the banter I had with the cashier. He was wearing a football shirt and it was red and black so I asked if it was a Bournemouth shirt, he said no and as I got closer it was a Coventry shirt. He was surprised I knew their color was sky blue.

Anyway, I love hearing the stories of supporters I meet randomly, especially from smaller clubs. I'd say most British football fans I've met were primarily fans of clubs either in the mid to lower tables of the league or non PL sides.

Always a pleasure to hear them rattle off things such as trophy wins, especially over big sides, players who started out with them and gone on to first division or PL greatness. I feel almost apologetic to say I'm a Gooner because initially it smacks of glory hunting when coming from an American.

This also invariably gets them talking of any matches between the two sides or players we share in common.

Spurs have the 3rd worst xG in the league. Ange-ball is the opposite of control. You can’t win trophies this way as it has too many external factors out of your control that you’re relying on

The only selection questions today are

Trossard or Martinelli
Emile Smith Rowe or Havertz or Jorginho

Not exactly easy!

----------Raya-----------
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
--------Jorginho
------Odegaard Rice
Saka ---Jesus---Trossard

Martinelli to come on for the last 30.

Chelsea 1-3 Wolves.
Pedro Neto tearing Chelsea apart down wolves right, Cunha looks like a classy player who could easily play at a better club that Wolves.

The only question is have on Neto is the main way I’ve seen him be effective is with space to run in, counter or high def line. Has he shown he can make a real impact and difference when he has as little space as Saka to work in. His raw pace would be a nice weapon to have though, not many quicker than him in the league

Raya, zinny, white, Saliba, Gabriel, Jorginho, rice, Ødegaard, Martinelli, Saka, Havertz

Jorginho AND Zinchenko, wonder if we see Zinchenko play more of a traditional left back role today?

I am still upset we only got a draw out of them. Although they seemed up for it from the start to be fair. Can't see Poch lasting, especially being a former Spurs manager.

It’s absolutely hilarious how bad Chelsea are, and thanks to the fact that they thought they’d out smarted the market by handing out long contracts they are now stuck with these players for 8 years, their value massively depreciating all the time.
With some of their players it does feel like a different manager might get a tune out of them, but some of them it’s just staggering how they paid what they did for them
