I like the idea of a wrap around screen on the outside of the stadium or even lights like the Allianz arena in Munich. Agree that the screens in the ground need an upgrade as they are poor quality and often a bit glitchy. I wonder if the club will eventually redevelop the lower tiers so they can accommodate safe standing. Apparently it will involve changing the gradient which has to be a big job.

…and while we’re at it, the catering is appalling.

Every week we are treated differently. I'm not saying the decisions for us are wrong but no-one else gets called out the same way

Not at all convinced by safe standing, B. Can't see what it'll bring to the party.

I hear lots of supporters suggesting that going back to standing will somehow right the perceived wrongs of modern era stadia – high prices, lack of atmosphere and loss of fan camaraderie. IMO it just won’t.

The first issue often quoted is price, but standing in a person-sized cage will take up the same area as a seat so will not of itself increase ground capacities or reduce ticket prices. Indeed the cost of fabricating the ‘cage’ will get added to everyone’s ticket.

The other issues – atmosphere and camaraderie – relate to freedom of movement, not seats. The ‘safe’ standing cages will be numbered and ticketed. Whatever your ticket says will dictate precisely where you will (safely) stand so you won’t be able to shuffle off to a different area to be with your mates.

Ticketing was the essential difference between standing and sitting. It isn’t really ‘all seat’ stadia that get up fans’ noses – it’s ‘all ticket’. Groups of freely associating like-minded fans were an essential pre-requisite to the singing and chanting culture in grounds. Singing groups. Groups of friends and associates. Drinking groups. Multi-generational family groups. And you could move from one to another depending on your mood or the type of match.

Freedom of movement = atmosphere! Safe (ticketed) standing won’t bring that back.

Slightly surprised about the roof needing replacing. That sort of roof normally lasts at least 25 years.

Every time we score it gets a battering from the back row so I’m not surprised :1laughter:

Food and drinks abysmal.

Exclusivity deals for beer is ludicrous. Given your consumers a choice and they will buy it

Man coty close to signing Brazilian youngster Savinho, they already signed Kayky and Yan Couto. All Brazilians 18 or under and all for fees around £5-7m. None of these players have done anything yet but it was an area I was hoping Edu might tap in to with his knowledge and previous work with the national team possibly giving him an edge here.

If you have any super cars lying around in the garage I am happy to come to Sydney and take them for a run for you.

What percentage can be attributed to Edu possibly lacking or City's immense amount of money and scouts all over?

Shall we say 100% the latter? I can't imagine too many 17 year-old Brazilian footballers have Arsenal first in mind when they contemplate playing in Europe.

lol, omoh.
Well, I would suggest, 17 year old Brazilian footballers aren't thinking of either us or City that much and just trying to make it. But if they are good enough to be on City's radar, they are likely very good even for the football factory Brazil is and possibly thinking about Europe a bit more than their peers age wise.

That said, they'd love to come to the UK or the continent, period I would imagine. I'd love to get another 'Maritinelli' for a few positions.

One of the youngish Brazilians under Arsene was Juan. Memorably the Higbury crowd sang "There is only one Juan."

Our game with Liverpool rearranged for March 16th. Sky clearly want the arsenal v spurs game as late as possible in may, it could have taken the slot they’ve just arranged the Liverpool game and technically it should have as it was postponed before our Liverpool game which isn’t due to be played until next weekend

Obviously a 'must win game' as are all games of clubs below us and even some challengers for 4th especially if we play them at home.

We have it in us to win away to Sperz. A draw is a good result, but if we have shown we can play anyone in the league away, including City and 'Pool for large parts of the game. We can do the same to Sperz, Man Utd, even Chelsea.

I suspect that the most important factor determined which of our games during the run in will be the most difficult will be how close to full strength the respective teams are. Those are tough games at the best of times, obviously, but I fancy a full strength Arsenal to put up a good fight in those games.

Certainly am.

Mega sections of overlap boards gone as they drag down posts.

I guess that nobody will be around to fix them any time soon.

Soccer Saturday just discussing our arch enemy Neil Maupay right now :laughing7:

You know what I’d take him. This is how badly we need forwards. They showed clips of his goals lob, volley left foot, right. He scored one outside the box and has scored more than Kane this season. Just a level of performance alien to us right now from a striker.

With their money there will obviously be a purge at Newcastle as they buy big, I just hope Willock will be kept.

Win by 3 goals today and we go above West Ham with 3 games in hand. I’ll take any win though

Hope we thrash Brentford today for 2 reasons, (1) helps our goal difference and (2) revenge for opening day defeat (sour grape vibe here :42laughter: )

Brentford have been taking their time over goal kicks, throw-ins etc, taking every opportunity to 'slow it down', since the start of the game.

Irrespective of any opposition timewasting we have to do far, far better with the huge amount of possession we have. A real and obvious lack of cutting edge.

How is that not a penalty? Clearly came off the elbow of the defender

His arm was away from his body as well. Obviously he wasn't looking at the ball but he made himself bigger than he should of,

Reviewed as well. I just don't know how you can look at that and not think its a pen
