He might be better than me at that age...might, mind you. :1laughter:

He ended up with 7 goals in a 9-0 victory.
28 goals in 16 games is the official today for the U18’s. New Srsenal all time record at that level, beating Flo Balogun

On form and what I see we should win at OT. How Burnley got back into the game for a draw I don't know. Man Utd seem to raise their game for us.

Stuttgart who sit 3rd in the Bundesliga, are up 1-0 at the beginning of the second half. They look good. Well organized. I am not so sure Leverkusen will get out of this one. Xhaka isn't playing as he picked up a 5th yellow last week. Hoping Leverkusen can pull it out, but its going to be tough.

Now down 2-0. Just looked up their manager, Sebastian Hoeneß. 'Only' 41. Has a great future ahead of him from what I can see.

If the truth be told we have done remarkably well just to still be in the title discussion against the juggernaut that is Man City.

They have a formidable squad and are basically a machine in which most of the parts are fully interchangeable with little or no loss of quality and that allows them to rest players. Even then we've seen how difficult it is to compete on all fronts and some of their players have complained of tiredness.

That makes it all the remarkable how we have remained competitive with minimal rotation because some of our back-ups are not quite at the level required.

In relation to the last sentence, I think that is one of our weaknesses. Arteta needs to have more trust and also ensure that he improves the players on the margins so they easily slot into the team. We have not brought any young players thru since he arrived. Plus the reserve purchases don't seem to get any game time, even in some of the cups. And the marginal players have one bad game or even one mistake and they are out of favour. Pep manages players on the margins better. Look at Foden and his slow progress over the years. I concede it is easier for him because coming to that club you are almost guaranteed of some trophy so they are better quality. But they have a reasonably compact squad. I think a few of our squad have been playing with injuries which does hinder at times.

I don't buy the whole City is always buying the title. You can have all the money and players in the world but you need to get them to play and Pep has done that. Look at teams like PSG, Bayern this year and even Man U : spending does not guarantee success. Its getting the mindset to win and doing the right things to ensure it. There are no guarantees. At City, they get to this time of the year and they expect to steam roll all teams to win the title. This year I still think we have a chance but Spurs is a big challenge.

I’m off to look at YouTube to see him kick a football for literally the first time, but I’m utterly convinced he’s the most perfect signing in our history and I’ll be devastated and bereft if it doesn’t happen.

Has positive attributes and seems quite clever on the ball. Lacks a bit of pace though. not getting too excited after watching highlights against some tragic defending and with far more space and time than he’d get in the PL. A good option as competition for Martinelli who’s become a bit one dimensional with his play.

I didn’t know he was recently in Oz at all. I am sure that suited him fine.

Nervous but scared is how I feel. This has draw written all over it. We are tired and Tottenham are rested. Just hope to goodness they don't score first. If we start out great I don't even think a 2-0 lead is enough, as they will press all 90 plus minutes.

Again, we must win, they must not lose. Not the same.

Why was Ferguson working on the door of a pub in Sydney? And since when has he been your mate?

I'm sure you've sussed that was a poor attempt at a joke.

More seriously, the edit function is playing up for me again. I try to edit something, press submit, and nothing happens.

There seems to be a big delay in my posts appearing, hence the multiple posts again.

Is it because they have to fly to Australia first Rog? :angel9:

With that sense of humour, you may have been barred. Steve used to use the power pretty liberally.

So Liverpool were 5 points clear, have just won 5 points out of the last 15 possible at the critical end of the season, got beaten 3-0 at home in the Europa league by Atalanta to get KO, and got KO of the FA Cup by the worst Man U team for a long time - and the talk is about this team over achieving this season, Klopp had to rebuild his midfield, no one expected a title charge.
Where was this mitigation for us last season? The moving of the goal posts is absolutely ridiculous

Obviously concerns have been raised at Pine Gap and all communications are being triple checked.

To me Spurs seem vulnerable to quick long balls to the wings when we gain possession. We need to be in to them from the very start. No playing ourselves in today.

I wonder if Arteta will trust Partey again? I'm in two minds about this--I suspect the wise move is to play Jorginho. Partey just adds so much when he is on song but he still looks like he has a mistake in him defensively. Ditto Martinelli. Trossard is obviously in better form but this feels like a Martinelli game. Tomiyasu has done enough to keep his place, and surely any thought of Havertz not starting up front has been banished. The rest pick themselves.
