Squad just cracked eventually. Bit too small. But none of the players we let go would have helped us bar Aubameyang, but we had such an upturn when he left it’s swings and roundabouts there.

Whatever the question is I’m sure that Lacazette is not the answer.

More than happy to be proved wrong.

And btw, it’s incredible that despite everything, money, time, new ground, manager after manager, success for Sp#rs is 4th place in a league they haven’t won for 61 years.

Injuries have done for us.
Tongith was once again that p*ss awful perfect storm, late monday game away from home, knackered from thursday from playing with 10 men, opponent nice and fresh, partizan home crowd up for everything, finding it physically hard going. this was always going to be an absolute mountain to climb

If you were to list the players we really couldn't afford to lose this season, Partey, Tierney, Tomiyasu would have been in the top 4 along with Saka. Nearly every other player has a replacement close-ish to their level

It would be easier to have some faith if we showed some attacking signs. Newcastle look far more likely to score again

How on earth is that not a free kick for Martinelli? One Newcastle player might have gotten the ball first, but the other one who crashed into him sure as hell didn't

So, Martinelli gets the ball first, then clattered. No foul there. 10 decisions like that tonight.

The foul throw that lead to the goal, again I'm sure any ex ref can make a case for it being a foul throw but its another time where I feel we're refereed to the full force of the law where plenty others aren't.

Before anyone starts, I'm not blaming the ref for us losing, we simply haven't been good enough and across the game Newcastle deserve to be beating us

We’ve got no central midfield and no proper CF. No wonder we can’t create anything.

From the moment White was carded after 8 minutes we werent going to get anything at all from this ref tonight. Probably no real big game changers but every 50/50.....and even just awful decisions like a clear dive from Almiron will all be in Newcastle's favour tonight

Finishing the season with 3 away games is also just rank bad luck. Even without the Tottenham game it would have been two.

There is no way the ref is responsible for our position in this game. We've been second best all evening and blaming the officiating is pointless.

The thing is, while none of the decisions are important in isolation (no missed penalties, no red cards) it gives Newcastle a boost because it plays into their game plan of pressing and tackling hard. Imagine if Man City got away with half their fouls, they would destroy every team 8-0.

I’m not convinced that they do deserve to be winning.

Both sides have had 8 shots, and we have had 2 on target to their 1. Hardly a drubbing.

You aren’t getting a through ball from that midfield. Include Ødegaard in that

Aside from bringing in a striker we need new players who can move the ball quicker in the middle of the park. First touch and weight of pass is everything

No one is blaming him. Just pointing out he's been quite biased to the home side with a lot of the small decisions. Newcastle have committed double the number of fouls we have but they are card free and we've taken 2. They are being allowed to play to a higher threshold.

Remember when Xhaka was yellow carded recently and the ref pointed to 3 fouls across the pitch and it was Xhaka's first foul? We are reffed differently. Just to reiterate we're losing this game because newcastle have generally been better than us, they look more threatening going forward and we've looked tired and weak.

Oh well. Europa next year, the rebuild continues without the boost we thought we might get. Did I say keep the faith? It’s abandon ship at the moment. After the anguish of losing out on fourth I think there’ll be some circumspection and realise we’ve done ok this season overall. We carry on.

Well done Ramsdale for bailing us out after Pépé’s pass.

Pépé lazy pass across the middle of the pitch, newcastle go through 2v1 and it should be 2-0.

that is why Pépé will be moved on this summer I'm sure of it

Just about everything you've posted has been a complaint about a decision Rich. Seriously it's like a broken record.

£72m for Pépé. Good grief. A totally useless cross. Not that difficult.
