Martinez saved the penalty but Aubameyang tucks in the rebound. Not a great penalty but stayed alive for the rebound.

Nothing less than we deserve - we've smashed Villa

Why would that be? If Aubameyang had hit the post he wouldn't have been allowed to tuck in the rebound. Another player has to touch the ball before you touch it again.

That's a fantastic half for us. Good intensity. Well done Arteta!

All 11 players played well.

Thought Carragher summed up the penalty incident well. Lacazette has no real interest in playing the ball but makes sure he gets his foot in front of where the defender is going to clear it and is saying 'go on kick the back of my leg'. You wouldn't put much blame on the villa defender as there isn't much he could do about it and given that same situation another 10 times he'd instinctively do the same thing again every time - just got outdone by a smart striker

Nothing wrong. It is allowed.

Bailey warming up for Villa. The game isn't won yet, we need to keep switched on.

He's seriously dangerous. Back 4 for them now

That's a very weak claim for a penalty from Ings

That's surely that. Keep a clean sheet and a few more goals.

A bit lucky with the deflection, but that was an excellent counter-attack. Smith-Rowe winning the ball, great pass from Tavares to Aubameyang, great flick by Aubameyang and Smith-Rowe follows through.

2-0 up, an embarassed villa come out and really give it a go at the start of the second half and have some promising moments - that is how you snuff that out straight away. 3-0

Emile Smith Rowe cut off Villa, then ran all the way towards goal. Respect. He's what we need.

The Aubameyang flick was a bit like the one v Spurs that Emile Smith Rowe ran on to. Watch the move from afar and Aubameyang just suddenly came alive when we won the ball back, sprinted back onside on the blindside of the defender to make the flick

Arteta needs to use the bench well here to keep the intensity up. But wait until players flag because this 11 is playing well.

Another late tackle and a yellow card for a Villa player

Loved that. Bailey on the break, he's quick - Arsenal just swarm all over him with 3-4 players. Gabriel on him like a rash

Very good save Ramsdale from a 1v1

The question now is a) can we have this intensity more regularly - more like 3 in 4 rather than 1 in 4. and b) can we have this intensity away from home because there is no doubt the home crowd play a big factor in the intensity in our play

Villa players looking frustrated now. That third goal killed the momentum they were building.

He is playing a Captain's game. Always defending from the front. Good to have him back to his energetic self.

A) really should be a given. Liverpool are starting Henderson, Milner and Keita in midfield, and they're one of the best teams in the world. All those three players can do is run, but they do their part.

Aubameyang yellow for barging a villa player off the ball but he ran back because he knew 4 of our players were out of the game as Villa broke.

Lacazette with hopefully only some cramp, looks like he's coming off - he's been outstanding. No surprise Lacazette only lasted 65 minutes given his lack of minutes and the shift he's put in

Hugely impressed with how Lacazette has played himself back into the starting eleven. Excellent sub appearance against Palace, and possibly our best player today. Anyone who thought he would run down his contract and not be bothered was sorely mistaken.

Which Ode will turn up?
Will the intensity of the other players bring his up?

Ramsdale is very good with the ball at his feet, he pings penetrating passes through midfield. I must admit I doubted his ability foolishly based on the fact that he didn't do it at Sheff utd who were more direct

Feels strange to praise the professionalism of a player when that is the minimum we should expect but he's been very good. He's popular with the fans as well.

Glad he got the start after a game changing sub display
