Is just it me or do these iffy decisions seem to always be for the first goal which is so important.

And for City! I can’t recall a really bad one they’ve had against them but can already think of at least 3 so far for them this season

Ridiculous. You can clearly see Haaland pulling cucurella’s shirt to get in front who then fouls Haaland back.

I don’t blame the ref for not spotting it, he wouldn’t be looking at it when the Haaland shirt tug happens. But how can var look at it and decide it’s fine. It literally drags Cucurella in to the wrong position from which he then desperately fouls Haaland

Penalty to chelsea. There’s no way that one can get ruled out. That was one of the clearest pens you’ll see all season

Is there anything more childish than footballers trying to scuff up the penalty spot! The nonsense that follows every penalty decision. If I was the ref I’d stand on the penalty spot and say everyone but the penalty taker has to be out of the area before I count to 10 or you’ll be yellow carded. Treat them like children because they are trying to cheat and gain any advantage. That’s every team not just these two we’re watching

Chelsea clearly getting their act together but they look better against better sides. Look like a team strong in transitions but lacking creativity - which is easy to understand when you see the make up of their midfield and forward line - most of them are athletic players but not technical creative players, stands true for those on the bench too. Really interested to see Nkunku when he’s back from injury in this team.

Home draws with Liverpool, city and Arsenal might look good but I’d expect all 3 of those teams to beat Chelsea at home

Roberto De Zerbi: "I am honest and clear, I don't like 80% of English referees. It's not a new thing, I don't like them."

"England is the only country where, when there is VAR, you are not sure the decision is right. In other countries you have to be sure the referee is 100%."

Poch storming across the pitch to confront the official after the game, given a yellow before he got there and his staff moved him away before it got worse.

Ten hag having to see the next game from the stands for his continued disrespect of officials.

De Zerbi with a blast of officials in his post match press conference which follows a red card he was given plus touchline ban last season

Pep has already served a touchline ban for his continued disrespect of officials

Klopp has served touchline bans, had red cards and screamed in an officials face….

In all his time Arteta hasn’t once been sent off or had a touchline ban - but who do the media single out as the worst behaved manager? In fact ask a random fan who they think it is and so many will say Arteta because they’re fed this rubbish by the media.

The narrative is already there. The CEO of ref support uk came out and declared Arteta’s touchline behaviour as the worst in the league. So you can already see people pick up on what influential people say and run with it.

Post subject:  Re: Supporters Forum

Two things I’ve noticed in the prem generally recently.

1) the tactic to subtly block defenders at set pieces. It’s less a block and more deliberately getting in the way of a defender trying to mark a runner. It happens in open play as well - a great example is Willock’s 3rd goal for Newcastle v Man U in the Carabao Cup. Gordon I think it is makes a cross over run and kind of bumps in to Maguire who Willock can then take it past easily to get a clear shot at goal. Teams should work on this because of the amount of goals scored at set pieces. In general play Man City do this all over the pitch

2) with so many teams becoming very, very good at the high press more teams are going direct and it’s a valid tactic. You can gamble against the high press by committing your own midfield forward to pick up the second balls even if you don’t win the first header.

Havertz is the last key. Everyone else will have consistently good games except him. If he gets some quality consistency, we'll be very dangerous. I don't think he's going to be anywhere close to a 60 million pound player but at this point, he doesn't have to be. We have enough quality around him.

What's turning my key is trying to fix a leaking roof - can I find the cause? Can I beggary. A bungalow with a number of upstairs adjustments/extensions with loads of channels and gutters. It's a wonder I haven't fallen off. Including retiling a bathroom (which doesn't have straight/flat walls). Then I "can relax" - apparently.

Beth is doing well thanks - into her first year as an acute/trauma consultant, and into her 34th year in a weeks' time. Loves her job despite some of the horror stories she tells; mind you, there's some funny stories too. The things that some people (mainly men it seems) get up to..........

We have the same problem with our roof. Its just too flat so the water just doesn't drain if the wind is in the wrong quarter and then always gets though .

Mine latest self-inflicted wound is our water system. Our system was borehole to top tank, then down to our house. I decided to put another tank in between with filters between the two tanks. Took me the whole of my vacation.

But now the pressure is a) not enough to push the water through the filter and b)not enough to fire up the gas geyser :1cry: :1cry:

I hate the Raya acquisition and fall out from it. I don’t think he’s as good a shot stopper distribution be damned, which I haven’t been wowed by either. It is maybe a slight upgrade, but cost us squad harmony, trust in Arteta - because he has basically spun a lie about rotating keepers - 30M in transfer fees plus extra wages. Not sure it’s really worth doing all that for a slight upgrade.

I think basically this was the “best” option available and the gk coach (who also recommend the AWFUL Runarsson) swung it.

The article is interesting because it hints we wanted Raya all along. I still don’t understand it if I’m honest. If we wanted to get him why not just get him on a free in 12 months or whatever but to prioritise that over other areas is weird.

Also his distribution is better but I think his overal game isn’t. He doesn’t cover his far post at all and that’s contributed to the goals at Newcastle and Chelsea. Also if im not mistaken the defence looks slightly more uneasy with him in the sticks, seems to instil a little more doubt in them. Just something I’ve picked up on

What I don’t understand is why he’s not rotating them a bit more. Play Ramsdale more in the midweek games so you can truly work out who is better. It’s like he doesn’t want to do that in case it undermines his decision

I think that’s a big part of it, If you take expensive “gambles” you naturally want and need them to work out. After some frankly brilliant recruitment, Havertz and not Raya himself but everything entailed in that decision, look like backward steps for this squad. Luckily we also signed Declan Rice who does the job of 2 men, and the CBs including Ben white and Tomiyasu have been immense. Almost everyone else has a question mark over them this season so far for one reason or another be it form, fitness or manager preference.

Spending best part of 100 million on those 2 looks madness right now. We could have gone for caicedo as everyone wanted and got a back up keeper on a free instead. I notice right now we are getting linked with midfielders left right and centre (today it’s Reuben Neves)

Post subject:  Re: Supporters Forum

Var audio released on the Newcastle goal. My thoughts:
Ball out of play - no problem with the outcome but there is a part when they pinpoint what they think is the point the ball has travelled furthest ‘out’ and they ask the controller to roll the video forward 2 frames which shows the ball coming back in to play but don’t ask him to roll it back 2 frames to see if the still they settle on is the furthest out the ball could be.

The foul was dismissed by only really looking at longer camera angles, but when they checked the offside there was a much better close up angle showing the foul more clearly or at least more damningly.

On the offside, one of the var guys starts making a mistake assuming he’s judging offside of Gabriel rather than judging whether Gordon is ahead of the ball because with Raya further ahead of the play there are not two players to judge against the usual offside.

Handball was judged as not deliberate and no conclusive evidence for the offside based on a there being no camera angle to see when the ball was played AND to be able to draw the lines.

There was a quick line with Webb saying Havertz and Bruno should have both been red cards. For me it would have been far more interesTing to hear the audio on those two decisions Webb deemed as incorrect rather than the goal. Let’s hear the audio of the var judging Bruno wasn’t a red card.

Back to the drawing boards.

Remove the tank you fitted and put the filter in the top tank ... or else put the second tank alongside the top tank that way you'll get more head pressure .

I hope Timber is coming back sooner than later obviously. The little I've seen of him, I think he will replace Ben White.
