There's a 113 pages of mod requests here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?f=72 I wasn't sure what to look for - I suspect there might already be a mod for that as there was one for ver 2 of this board type - it might not be made yet though ..

Note - some 'mods' or 'hacks' are easy to add, others are very difficult to add and can make upgrading the forum software a nightmare.

There might be a 'mod' for that - or I can request one - good idea though - I liked that too ..

Test.[/quote]Is it possible that you can incorporate a way of replying that doesn't mean including multiple posts? Personally I find it a bit confusing (but I am of limited ability of course!) seeing multiple replies. I kind of prefer the current system that replies just using the one quote-but can understand why you've done it like this.

Ah, I see, you can only incorperate three posts (just found out after trying to post!).

Yes - by default, I can only set it to do a limiting number of quotes - 3 is what it's on now. The current board we hacked to get it to do what it does. I *think* there might be a hack for this one too but I'm not sure. Re quoting mods are very popular. I have already hacked this one a bit via skinning it - it no longer has the ridiculous lines all thru the quoting which looked garish.

If I'm honest mate what makes it look confusing (to me) is that the names aren't directly above the quote they've given.

I will add it to my to do list, that involves reopening the cascading style sheet again and editing the forum body file. These are files files I like to back up before tweaking first .. :ugeek:

Hi

It's too easy now - scroll down near the bottom when making a posting - click "Browse" and add a pic from your computer there.

To add a remote picture from somewhere on the internet, type or paste in the address in the body of the message, highlite it with the mouse, then click Img at the top above the message box.

The above graphic was done by Steve G for me years ago - I still use it today ..

How comes you've not got the graphic details below it?

Remote graphics don't do that - only locally imported ones do ..

I haven't added the words "Cannon", Chocolate", or "EEG" yet ... 8-)

Can you pm the words if they are different ? They need to be sent to me via this board however.

OK so here be I... what is the reason for the change? and will the current thread be migrated? How soon until everyone knows... so many questions left unanswered...

I made a few notes in the Faq and suggestion area which has some feature information in it. It is not possible to move over the quarter million posts into this forum - I will likely archive the current forum for a while though. I will be doing a few more things in the background (some colours, mods, etc) to finalize this one. I am working on a way to get the posts counts over and even possibly peoples original joined date (If it is indeed possible).

DHD wrote:
So why the change?

The current forum is running off my home computers and net connection which gets subject to down time.
So, if I ever move, change Isp, rebuild that machine etc ... the forum will vanish. (It does around 650 meg / day in bandwidth also)

The current forum is beginning to show cracks also - spam bots, edit function not going, no longer updateable, poorly supported, fewer features, etc. These are just due to the age of it's software.

This new forum is much better due to it's support basis, plus the server should have superior uptime and be faster. Updating should be easier, plus with this domain name, other features become available. (Email, ftp, etc ..)

There are more features with this new forum but they can be turned off (mostly) for those who don't wish to use them.

It was never meant to run on my home setup here and was always destined to run under a proper domain name. Judith and John are very happy with the new domain name. I just wanted to have a few users take a look and see what they thought.

Hello New Forum,
Seems more complicated, but I said that about the last one. Luddites forever! I am sure I will get used to it and I do understand the reasons for the change. When will the old forum be turned off?

Have a look in your control panel, top right - you can disable whatever you wish in most instances.

I will likely leave the current forum running to aid in redirects (so people will readily locate the new forum) for quite some time but it may be in an archived or locked state - meaning it may be viewable for a time, but not 'active'. Although the hardware is much better since the last rebuild, the software portion is nearing it's end. The solution Judith and I have devised will give the forum new life via this commercial alternative. (It's a tremendous interface now - for a remote server anyway)

Honestly not too sure - just wanted to show a few peeps and do some finishing touches to this one. Might show it to a few more to see if everyone gets on ok. Still might add a few more items in the backend ...

Great - have a look at the top of this forum now - Saves bookmarking the address for email - I added hotmail and Gmail links also.

"GleiberMail' can remember logins via cookies so it is just as easy to use as hotmail and Gmail - but without the ads :P

If people want, they can change their 'signup' email address to their GleiberMail address (if they have one) so everything can be done from within here. That way, board messages, emails, postings, subscriptions can all be done from this forum without having to use different mail programs, etc. A 'one stop shop' so to speak ..

If you change Isp's or your regular email address, you will still get your email from your Gleiber account as it will be unaffected.
