That’s a stunning goal from Nwaneri. Let’s the ball run across his body then from 25 yards just bends it in the top corner. Just brilliant |

This is why I’ve been more than comfortable for Nwaneri to start prem games or certainly be trusted with more minutes. He’s just a really special talent, but it’s his decision making that really sets him apart from other young players. So mature in his play |

Van der ven injured for spurs, hamstring again for him. I think that’s the 3rd hamstring injury he’s had since the start of last season. Got to be a worry for him and then when his pace is such an important attribute. He looked close to tears coming off |

Is Nwaneri left footed ? Did he just hit the screamer with his weaker foot. Impressive |

Spurs 2-0 Man City. Interesting what can happen when you field a team missing some key starters against prem opposition. |

Havertz and Partey on for Merino and Timber at half time. You’d think (and hope) those were pre planned, particularly if we were a couple of goals up |

Nwaneri hits the bar. Man of the match performance from him. 17 years old. Nice comfortable run out tonight for the tee M. Desperate for a home draw in the next round, it looks like all prem teams in the last 8 I think. |

Watching the spurs game now and I’m reminded that we were a Son 1v1 finish that he scored in his sleep away from being champions last year. It’s such small margins like this that give little credit to those who believe title winners are everything and 2nd place is nothing. The difference last year was wafer thin. 1 goal and people would have to say everything about us they say about City and vice versa |

No excuses here I’m nervous about timber, his minutes need to be carefully managed after his long injury, it’s inevitable that he’ll pick up small knocks, almost every player post ACL does. Can’t imagine this was a game we’d have planned to play him in if others were fit. Ben White has just come off a 3 week injury lay off and he may be needed at CB again if Gabriel is out for the weekend. Shame that MLS hasn’t got another start but really looking forward to Nwaneri. Get a healthy lead then bring off everyone important and bring on any youngsters would be ideal. A Jesus goal as well please! And your wish was answered |

Gaz from Oz wrote: I really can’t see any logical reason to bring Saka on or even have him on the bench. This is not managing the players welfare. Arteta has continually done this in his time with us, when he’s heavily rotated and the game is won he’ll quite often give 20 minutes to a big player. As fans we’re praying he doesn’t get injured and questioning why take the risk but Arteta has the school of thought that keeping the engine ticking over is better than long periods of rest and no games. |

Gaz from Oz wrote: I really can’t see any logical reason to bring Saka on or even have him on the bench. This is not managing the players welfare. We needed to rest Martinelli who will clearly start at the weekend. Who would you have brought on instead of Saka? (Don’t say Trossard he can’t play off the right and needed resting too as we are asking him to play midfield) We need to accept that even when players are rested they will still need to contribute minutes. 28 minutes of keep ball that’s all. Despite all The Hale end hype I think there’s actually an absence of obvious prospects at hale end ready to cover our players. Nwaneri is a star, Lewis Skelly looks similar to Maitland Nile’s in that he has great qualities but probably needs more minutes to make a proper judgement on him. The rest look raw and lack confidence. Heaven just gave the ball away, Nichols previous round did well but wasn’t convincing to be trusted today and there isn’t an obvious winger in the group to take minutes off Saka or centre half you could sub saliba for. The next team selection in the competition could be interesting, I think Raya could come in now. Need Tomiyasu and Calafiori back fit. |

He can come good and our fans just need to remember 2 things 1) he isn’t a natural choice to cover saka as he’s right footed and we play with inverted wide players 2) he’s on the same money as Reiss Nelson and clearly is a far better player and contributing more in my opinion It’s a shrewd but temporary move. Will probably end up in Saudi next year |

https://x.com/dailyafc/status/185159397 ... -j6VVZXEoA Why on earth is Arteta having to defend questions about him revealing or not revealing the full and exact injury status of his own players before a game!? Why is this only a thing now and for Arsenal? I think there is a fear of Arteta in the media, he rarely gives them anything they can go on or get a rise from him, he’s articulate, straight, intense and some might say cold with the media. It was the same with Wenger, the feared him because they were intimidated by his intellect and thoughts on football which didn’t chime with the good old boys club. |

The problem Nwaneri has is he excels in the same position as Ødegaard. It would be like having the best U18 right winger in the country, how does he get game time ahead of Saka? I think there is an opportunity for Ødegaard and Nwaneri to play in the same team, Ødegaard can play as a left 8 and does often play a bit deeper to help progress the ball. It’s obviously super attacking but there may be a time when we might struggle to keep Nwaneri out of the team. He’s done everything he can in the few minutes he’s had. |

Hi Rich, Nwaneri definitely looks ready to make an impact. We are certainly not short of lefties in the squad. Saka, Ødegaard, Nwaneri, Havertz, Zinchenko, Gabriel, Merino, MLS, Kiwior. |

Ten Haag sounds delusional, Pep is grandiose and so over intense etc etc. I do think we are making ourselves unnecessarily unlikeable sometimes. Arteta giving the media nothing ever is part of that. That’s fine if it works. But the consequences are nobody likes you. You can’t really have it both ways. |

Pep always does his childish obvious sarcasm to questions he finds distasteful. Fergie regularly smashed the press up, calling them all idiots for questioning the veron signing. The list goes on and on. So a polite manager who gives detailed answers which may seem dull gets more sh*t treatment from the press than managers who insult the press because it gives them better headlines to write - but still never actually crucify those managers for insulting them and their bad behaviour. |

Kyran Thompson,The 15-year-old midfielder was at West Ham and being hunted down by the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Spurs. He has been likened to Real Madrid and England star Bellingham. Mail Sport understands that Arsenal beat Man City to Thompson’s signature by offering him a full scholarship to St John’s — as well as a £1.1million fee to West Ham. Starting to see a bit more aggression at youth level |

But there are loads of fans of other clubs who really dislike him and it isn't simply because he is the Arsenal manager. Klopp had buckets of charisma. He could be a right prick but he got away with it because he could also be charming and very engaging and interesting in press conferences. If Arteta wins things, the perspective will change. Pep is actually quite a bore to listen to but almost every journalist/tv presenter is in awe of him because of what he has achieved. |

I’ve been in San Francisco for a few days and from a number of conversations on election intentions, I’m surprised. Nobody I have spoken to is voting for Kamala, and this in a democratic safe state. Bizarrely people seem to prefer Trump on a personal level. They actually warm to him. They hate the way the cost of living has risen in recent years and they see Kamala as complicit. They think T will make them better off. They note the ongoing wars and most say that Trump kept them out of wars. They are voting for change. I’ve been very surprised. We don’t get the sense in the UK just how unpopular Biden and the Democrats have become. There is a perception that Trump will fix the economy, secure the borders from mass immigration and avoid/end wars. God help us. |

California is usually overwhelmingly Democrat but it doesn’t surprise me if I’m honest. When Trump was elected first time I found it crazy that I had US colleagues who were us born there but Mexican background and they voted for Trump also which was shocking given his rhetoric towards Mexico at the time. Some people know no other way and voters never learn their lessons they double down these days. People have such little genuine political choice too it’s like boomers in the UK voting for reform. I would still be surprised if the Bay Area went red despite San frans problems with homelessness etc. Will be the same in the next UK election too. The media in the UK will have bashed starmer for 4 years and we will turn back to the individuals who initiated and are responsible for the country’s decline or far worse. You can’t turn a ship that much in 4 years. Enjoy the steadier ship for a bit because it will be back to politicians nicking the public purse for their mates and screwing each other over to be leader whilst everything burns. |
