Howard Webb’s explanation for why Van Dijk didn’t give away a penalty for deliberately pulling back Guehi.

This is absolute nonsense. Is pulling someone back by the arm a foul, yes , the fact the ref thinks he’s not going to get the ball shouldn’t be relevant. If a team is on the counter attack and a defender deliberately trips or pulls back the striker before the ball is even attempted to be passed to them it’s a free kick and certain yellow card. Why can you be allowed to foul someone in the box and be told it’s just a small foul so it’s ok.

I've stopped getting my emotions run high because of this bunch of bias (and idiotic) referees. Angry at that moment and seething to strangle them. But let it slide after that because nothing could be done about it.

17 points after 7 games last season and this season

Last season’s fixtures:
Forest (H), Palace (A), Fulham (H), United (H), Everton (A), Spurs (H), Bournemouth (A).

This season’s fixtures:
Wolves (H), Villa (A), Brighton (H), Spurs (A), City (A), Leicester (H), Southampton (H)

You'd have to say this season's fixtures have been tougher.

And it is striking that our only lost points have been when we've lost leads after having a man sent off for an absurd second yellow.

We haven't been sparkling, but the resilience and sheer will to win are remarkable.

There are some stories appearing that as a result of the decision in the Man City legal case, interest free loans may have to be assessed against a club. In other words you would have a normal commercial rate of interest put against your balance sheet as to profitability each year. If this happens then our club could be in some difficulty into the future as I understand we have a large amount of those loans.

Arsenal and Liverpool to escape liability for huge interest on owners’ loans after City’s legal case

Ruling declared it unlawful for borrowings from shareholders to be excluded from PSR calculations but this will only apply to future deals

Of course Gunfire .... in those early Wenger years it helped that we probably had the greatest collection of talent that Arsenal Football Club is ever likely to see .

I was watching some old game the other day , the sort of relaxed nonchalance of Pires Henry Bergkamp & Co seemed like they were almost taking the piss .

At the time I thought they were good ; but never really appreciated how good .

This geezer :laughing7: honestly as thick as mince.

You seem intent on trying to wind up the Irish lads. As a regular in Dublin I can assure you Irish humour largely extends to laughing at this type of stupidity rather than getting provoked by it. That said the geezer who sits next to me at Emirates flys over from Dublin for games probably would bash you regardless after laughing at you.

At this point all you have is attempted wind ups as nobody values anything you say and they aren’t working much either.

International breaks are shite aren't they.

There's another one in November I believe.

Talk about a stop start to the season plus lengthy travelling and the danger of season defining injuries.

By Christmas we will have had 6 weeks out of the season for international breaks.

Yes, and as far as England is concerned international football has been around since 1872, so nothing new there! Talking of international sport, looks like England are struggling in Pakistan...

Yes, I believe the arduous fixture list for the England national team in the 1870s - one match a year, always against Scotland - raised the ire of the players union at the time.

Yes, but never forget the huge effort (and understandable fear) of travelling to the wild lands of Glasgow in those days. Much more pleasant for the Jocks to come to London for a game at the Kennington Oval - the gasometer was probably the best architecture they had ever experienced.

Absolutely I’d veto him for the job on that team selection alone. 3 players who all want to play as a No.10 so you just pick them all. Pathetic and cowardly. He managed to pick a balanced team in the first two games because Foden and Bellingham were injured. Get a manager who is going to play players in their best positions rather than just pick England’s 11 most talented players. Ok Kane was injured but you have Watkins and Solanke in the squad, play them! At the moment I think there is only room for one of Foden, Palmer and Bellingham in the team. Maybe 2 if Bellingham plays deeper and more disciplined. It’s an utter shambles

Not playing Watkins! Just madness. I also see that Declan Rice is now getting pelters with people saying he can’t play as a 6 because of his distribution. Absolutely absurd if I was Rice I’d join the Ben White club on this because he’s about to be made a scapegoat because the England managers can’t balance their teams.

They will bottle it and still give him the job I reckon but shouldn’t.

You are telling me to grow up when you are the one who posted that there is a political revolution taking place in Ireland.

I am well aware of the financial and social issues in this country. I have been living here for over 50 years. Every Irish person knows there is a significant housing issue (as there is in many many first world countries). In Ireland's case, it has its origins in the economic crash and subsequent recession the country suffered from 2008 to c2013. The construction industry collapsed and the banks were taken into government ownership. This led to several years of virtually no new residential developments being built. In terms of construction and residential lending it was more or less a lost decade. There are now record numbers of houses being built but there is a long way to catch up and the country still has one of the youngest populations in western Europe (one of the few with a median age below 40).

The Irish property market is further compromised by our historical model of the vast majority of people owning their own homes. Our rental market is nothing like as secure as mainland Europe and that is something that will take many years and a cultural shift to reform.

Still, it's probably better to burn down properties earmarked to house refugees because that solves everything.

Finally, I did not "scream" at you but called out the notion that there is a revolution taking place in Ireland as b%*&s%*^. You were the one who told me to grow up and referred to "Irish boyos."

I’m slightly resigned that at some point Saliba may push to join a proper European giant, I’m certainly more resigned to that than the thought of Saka doing the same. So whilst it’s too early to consider it we must ensure a few things, we keep his contract in a state where we hold the cards, make sure this is a world record fee for a defender £100m!….and that we stave off any desire he may have to leave for as long as possible by winning major trophies asap

There is no need to put a brave face on it, Dec. Console yourself that you can apply for asylum in South Africa. The trip over on the wooden raft won't be exactly fun, and you'll be in a detention centre sharing a bed with 20 Somalians for a few years, but anything is better than facing the rampant mobs of revolutionary immigrant Marxist-Islamists currently taking over and destroying Europe.
